Chapter 7
CHAPTER 7
RYKER
Pushing the other man to the ground, I listened to his wolf whimpers as my fist was clenched and outstretched to land a blow that would end this damned other Alpha life…
My mind was thrilled with killing him and claiming the aura of his wolf as mine, at the same time I couldn't ignore the urge to see if the woman who had fallen into the ravine was fine.
All efforts to ignore that urge proved abortive,
In annoyance at the entire situation, my eyes narrowed slightly at the man who had his eyes closed and was expecting to breathe his last
before glancing at the body of the woman lying haplessly about twelve feet below.
“The next time we cross paths, I will be slaying your damned wolf."
He pulled away as soon as I backed off and scrambled on the ground before making his way back to his defense.
“Fall back!” He growled heavily enough that I could hear the impact of his voice as it trembled even while finding my way down the cliff.
The woman was covered with blood, yet elegant and perhaps lifeless.
“She lives still," I muttered in a low voice to my wolf rousing deep inside of me after feeling her pulse.
She stirred and fluttered her eyes, muttering something inaudibly as I made my way out of the pit.
Alpha Zane's gaze had hardened a flicker to show he wasn't expecting what I had done, at the same time a second of having eye contact with him, he was waving the men over, acting all concerned about this woman who looked more like a she-wolf from my pack — With her Auburn hair that was nothing but a leaf blowing by.
I’d let out the breath I was holding. “To the victor goes the spoil, I claim her as mine."
I could hardly convey the thought of the other man as we called things truce for the time being, all he gave off was a smile that would’ve come off condescending.
“You can have all, we don't need her here as well." Was all he muttered.
At that moment I didn't care, all I cared about was about the woman in my arms who could as well be my mate.
*****
The sound of water dripping from my hands as I washed my bloody face filled the room, confused at everything that was happening. I walked back to the room where she was.
There was something about the woman that I can't wrap in my finger about and that one feeling left my heart filled with vanity.
A lot of questions flew through my mind, as I stood there stunned!
Was it her beauty?
Was it the fact that she didn't look a bit like she was a White Pack Wolf?
I felt restless as the questions all came back to me unanswered.
I stared at her as she motionlessly lay in the bed still unconscious leaving my wolf aroused by her scent. The gland at the side of her neck was significant because she was unmated, making the situation more tricky.
“Get me one of the healers!" I ordered one of the men that was beside where I was.
Outside, it was all cold as it drizzled slowly
dripped down crystal glasses, as the wares around glinted in the dying sunlight.
A knock startled my thoughts and I waved for the door to be opened marking the entrance of one of the Omega.
“You called me Alpha." I stood aside as she stared past me at the girl on the bed.
“Is that her?.” She questioned.
"Yes, get to business," I muttered before making my way to the door. “And Kara makes sure she lives."
I slammed the door behind me, making my way out.
*****
“She is awake." Kara basks as she announces excitedly.
Three days was all it took and those felt like the longest time of my life as I had to wait each day for a time when my questions would be answered, and I must say patience wasn't one of my virtues.
All anxious and curious I walked out to the room where she was and burst through the door, I could still feel yeh adrenaline flowing through my veins as I stared into her hazel eyes.
Immediately, as her eyes came in contact with mine she backed away from the bed clutching the duvet While she stared back at me with fearful eyes.
“Leave us alone!" I ordered.
The maids that were attending to her left the room In a hurry as the aura in the room intensified.
I could still feel that aura from my wolf, urging me to get closer to the woman— That I felt her.
I fought back the urge, taming the bit of urgency in my wolf as I made my way toward the bed.
“You still speak, don't you?" It seemed silly to ask, especially watching her call out that order hours ago.
She shook her head affirmatively, she coughed as I walked past the bed to the table and filled a cup with water.
I could see that bit of fear come up in her eyes as I walked back to the bed with the cup and offered it to her.
“Having that would make you feel better."
She irked and cringed to herself as I got closer, when I pressed the cup closer to her lips she slapped it off my hands.
A smirk came up on my face façading that darkness beneath. " Never do that again!” I barked out as I walked back to refill the cup.
This time she took it from my hands with trembling fingers.
“Who are you?" I asked as soon as she swallowed the last gulp.
I was expecting a kind of reply from her, not this silence that was starting to irritate me, my hands came toward her face slowly hoping that in a way I would be able to imprint my wolf with hers, and perhaps share that blissful mating display with her.
“You are my …” I was about to speak but swallowed the world behind my throat in shock.
“This is impossible." I tried again making that contact with my fingertips on her mating gland but had nothing, not even the aura of our wolves sparking a nerve.
I pulled away from her with irritation and feeling all disappointed.
“You weakling, why didn't you mention that you have no wolf?"
She tried speaking but her words felt numb.
“Guards!" I called out and a trio of them barged into the room.
“Seize her!" I ordered.
