Chapter 5
SARAH'S POV
Yesterday getting to sleep was like facing a demon and fighting so hard for it. But it was a good thing that I was able to actually sleep even though it was just for a little while.
I knew that I really slept late, because I had stayed away until 4am before sleep finally came. And I'm really happy that I didn't have any more nightmares again.
I thought as I finally made my way to the bathroom, as the maid told me to do so.
While having my bath, my mind went off to Damien, and somehow I wondered where he could be as I didn't see him when I woke up.
Though I knew I woke up late, it was actually his bedroom, so I expect him to still be around no matter what.
But anyway I will still get to see him later though, maybe after having my bath. I thought as I finally undressed, and stepped into the bathtub.
"Ma'am, I brought you some clothes," the lady who had brought me here said, and I could tell she was standing very close to the bathroom door, as I could hear her voice so clearly.
"Okay, just put them down where I can see it," I told her, and immediately he heard her footsteps fading away, making me realise she might be doing that right now.
"Ma'am, I just dropped your clothes on the bed, and I will be going now, but do you need anything else?" She asked, making me swallow hard, as I thought of what I could possibly need.
After a while, I still couldn't think of anything, so I decided to say something, instead of keeping her standing there.
"I don't need anything else, and thank you so much," I mouthed to her.
"Alright then, I'm leaving, but I will be back soon," she said, while I just took her it was fine, making her finally leave.
After having a good bath, I walked back into the bedroom, seeing some clothes ready on the bed. I began to dress myself up in the pretty clothes chosen by the maid.
After dressing up, I made my way to the mirror in the bedroom, as I stared at my reflection.
"My goodness this dress is so beautiful," I muttered to myself, as I stared at the dress in the mirror.
"But how did the maid even get to know my size?" I asked no one in particular, as I continued admiring the dress in my body, and how fitted it was on me.
I was still admiring myself and the dress when a knock came on the door, making me turn over to the direction of the door.
"Who's there?" I asked, hoping to hear the person here speak.
"It's me ma'am, your breakfast is ready," she spoke up from outside the bedroom, making me sighed softly.
"Okay," was all I could say.
"Are you coming down to the dining room, or do you want to have dinner here?" She asked me, making me pause for a while.
I want to see Damien, and I can't see him if I remain in here and eat here, so I should go down there, because he must definitely be in the dining room. I thought within me, as I finally decided on what to do.
"Ma'am, are you still there?" she asked again, as she didn't hear me say anything yet.
"I'm here, and I have decided to come to the dining room," I told her, while she told me to come with her, so she could lead me there.
I glanced at the mirror once again before walking out of the bedroom to meet the lady who was waiting for me outside my bedroom.
"You look so beautiful in this dress, ma'am," she complimented me immediately as I stepped out of the bedroom, with a smile plastered on her face.
"Ohh really?" I asked, returning the smile, and she nodded immediately.
"Thank you, but how do you know my exact size?" I asked her curious questions, as I waited for her response.
My size is rare to come by, and even when I go to get myself some new clothes, I always have to search for a long time before I can finally see something that would fit on my body.
I'm a lady with an average body type, so it's really hard to come in contact with clothes that fit in.
Most times, I might see too big clothes, or too small ones, but she was able to get my size, so I'm really so surprised.
"Ma'am, the truth is, I didn't really buy this clothes, but rather it belongs to our dead Luna who has just the same body type as you," she told me, making me swallow hard.
I could remember Damien talking about me having the same mark as hers, and now I just learnt we also have the same body.
"Ma'am I must say, you also look so much like our dead Luna, so are you in any way related to her?" The lady asked, surprising me.
"No, I don't think I'm related to her in any way," I quickly responded to her, as deep inside of me, I wished I had really met her.
"Alright then, come now let me take you to the dining hall," she told me, while I quickly signalled her to lead the way.
She got in front, while I followed behind her slowly, as my mind was still filled with the thought of Luna whom she had just mentioned.
Was it that I had a sister that I never got to know of or what with everything that I had just been discovering here since I arrived the previous day.
I feel there is more that I really needed to know about this Luna she had talked about, and somehow I wished my parents were still alive so I could ask them about all of these things, I thought as I finally walked into the dining hall.
My eyes went straight to the table, and I found out that the table was only set for just one person. Making me wonder why, as the lady asked me to have a seat, so she could serve me.
Waiting any hesitation I had my seat, and she quickly started serving me, as I felt like asking about Damien.
"Where is Alpha Damien, isn't he going to have breakfast too?" I asked her, making her paused, as she turned to me with a smile plastered on her face.
"Alpha Damien has gone out very early this morning, as that is his daily routine," she explained, making me sighed softly, realising I had made a mistake to come down here.
"So when would he be back?" I asked her, but by then she had resumed serving me again.
"He will be back soon," she responded to my question, making me sighed softly, as I hoped he would just come back anytime, so we can sit together, besides I came here this morning because I really want to see him.
"But where exactly did he really go?" I asked her, as I could stop myself from asking her.
"He always goes to his Pack warriors every morning, to inquire about how the night went, and ensure there was no danger lingering around the pack," she explained to me, making me totally understand her now.
"That means your Alpha is really a good Alpha, as he cares so much about his people," I commented, while she nodded her head.
"Though, there is another reason behind his attention," she said, making me curious immediately, as I stared at her in anticipation.
"Tell me about it," I requested, as she finally dropped my food in front of me.
"Alpha Damien, has always been a caring Alpha, who has the interest of his people at heart, but he only became more overprotective, after his mate was kidnapped and killed," she told me, making me sighed softly.
I pondered over what the maid had said as I grabbed my cutlery. I pined the chicken with my cutlery and cut a little piece which I ate.
"I bet it must have really been hard for him to get over his Luna," I said feeling so sorry for Damien.
"Yes, Alpha Damien is really a strong man, but he was really affected but the death of his mate, and that's why he has become cold, and not the lively Alpha Damien we used to know," she told me, making me feel even more back.
"I understand him, and I really don't blame him for being that way, because I was also like that when my parents died, and I still haven't recovered from the trauma yet," I told her.
Somehow my mind flashed back the painful memories of my parents death, as I felt tears welling up in my eyes, as I quickly blinked them back not waiting to release them.
"Ma'am, I will be in the kitchen, but if you need anything don't hesitate to let me know," she told me, while I just nodded my head, and she left the dining room through the door there.
I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes and realized I was the only one here now, as I tried to continue with my food.
Somehow my mind went back to Damien, and I decided within me that I was going to eat so slow as to buy enough time for him to come back home.
I really want to meet him this morning, because I have a feeling that he might know someone that would help me get the answer to the questions about the nightmare I was having.
I really needed to know what the dream really means, because I was already so tired of having the nightmare, I really needed it to stop, because I'm so tired of getting chased by an unknown person.
I thought within me and took a deep breath, as I tried to focus on my food again, as I hoped to meet Alpha Damien.
I wonder why he didn't wake me up, before leaving, I would have really appreciated it. Anyway he did the right thing by letting me sleep a little, because I really needed it.
After a while I finally finished eating, and glanced around, but there was still no sign of Alpha Damien making me sigh softly.
"I thought the maid said he would be back soon, so why haven't he returned yet?" I asked myself, as I slowly stood up on my feet.
Just then the maid rushed into the dining room, and started clearing the table. "I thought you said he would be back soon, so why isn't he here yet?" I asked her, while she paused and faced me fully.
"I don't really know, but maybe he is caught up with something important, because he Normally comes back early," she told me, making me feel somehow uneasy.
I was about to ask the maid another question, when a man walked into the dining Hall, making me pause, as I wondered who he could be.
He looked pretty young, just like me and I guess he should be a few years older than me, or even the same age as me.
"Mary, isn't Alpha back yet?" I heard the man ask her.
"No, I'm still waiting for him," she responded to him, and just then I realised her name was actually Mary.
"What could be keeping him back there?" He asked, as he faced the floor, like he was thinking about something. While I just watched him.
"Hi," he waved at me, finally acknowledging my presence in their midst.
"Hey," I responded casually, as I tried to leave, but he stopped me before I could even think of it.
"Who are you?" He asked me, making me swallow hard, as I stared at him.
I really don't know who I was supposed to tell him that I was, so I just kept calm without saying anything.
"Oh my bad, I'm Eric the beta of this Pack, and you are?" He asked me, stretching out his hand to me for a handshake.
"I'm Sarah," I responded to him, while taking his hand which was extended to me.
"It's so nice to meet you Sarah," he said, smiling now, while I also faked a smile too.
