chapter 6
Adriet Rashnikov
"If you want, my people can go through the contract once more," Grayson said.
"No it's fine you should have done that earlier now I will look through it," I said while closing the file shut.
"Nobody can argue with you Adriet" he said as we shook our hands, "why don't we have a drink together Adriet after all you got the deal," he said.
"Sure, why not" just then Ross entered.
"Adriet we have a situation at the mall," he said hurriedly.
"Well Grayson I think we can have that drink some other time," I said to which he just smiled and shrugged.
"No problem man," he said and we made our way out. We quickly pulled in front of the mall. There was a lot of cop's vehicle. I spotted an old acquaintance of mine Warner.
"Mr Rashkolnikov" we shook our hands.
"What's the situation there?" Will asked.
"Nothing to worry at least for now. When we reached here those people had already left. The good thing is that no one was injured and everyone is safe and sound" he said while looking through some papers.
"Where are those people now," Ross asked.
"The mall is almost empty now sir some people are at the backside of the mall with some of our officials. I can take you there" he offered.
"Lead the way," I said and he took us everyone was there. I saw Emma standing next to a cop. She was looking worried Will immediately went next to her. Where was Roselyn it suddenly clicked to me I was looking around to spot her when I saw her sitting on the ground? Her hair in all direction she was looking straight at something. She looked vulnerable not her regular self where she was always feisty and was ready to argue with me. I was now regretting getting her here. I quickly made my way towards her. I knelt down. I didn't know what to say I had never done this before- comforting someone. I knew she wanted comfort. She wasn't really crying but she was scared.
"Are you okay?" I asked her trying not to show my concern towards her. I hadn't shown compassion for anyone for many years.
"I guess I am ........ fine," she said in a steady voice.
"Come on let's go," I said and pulled her up with me.
"I am feeling really very sleepy now I think those people had drugged me," she said while resting her head on my chest.
"Bell you can't fall asleep right now," I said while trying to wake her up. She can't fall asleep there could be anything in that drug. I tried to wake up but it was too late she was already in her deep slumber.
"Ross we need to go, now," I said while pulling Bell with me. I scooped her in my arms, we made our way to car I laid her in the back seat. We had reached the hotel. Ross had already called a doctor. We made our way to suite, I laid Roselyn on the couch while the doctor checked her. He gave her some injections.
"She is fine now Mr Rashkolnikov the drug was only given to her to make her unconscious. She will be out for a few hours other than that there is nothing to worry" he said.
"Thank you, doctor. I will leave you outside" Ross said and went out with the doctor. I looked at Roselyn for one more time and decided to continue with my work.
"Can't believe you are still doing your work, how can you be so heartless Adriet" Emma said as she entered the room. She had few shopping bags in her hand she dumped them on the floor and walked towards the fridge.
"So what do you want me to do just sit there and wait for her to wake up?" I asked while furiously typing on the laptop.
"No that's not what I am saying but you should at least- forget it you won't be able to understand" with that she went and sat near Roselyn. I don't know for how long I was sitting like that and typing and reading files when finally Roselyn stirred a little when Emma quickly gave her a hand to sit up straight by this time Will and Ross were also in the room.
"Are you fine kitty?" Ross asked while sitting next to her.
"Fine I guess, for how long have I been out," she asked while looking around.
"Quite a few hours" I replied and sat in front of her. I didn't know if it was the right time to ask her or not that who were the people or what were they talking about. She looked pale she brown eyes was not as lively as they were used to be.
"I think Roselyn you should eat something we can talk later," Will said.
"Kitty do you want anything," Ross asked.
"Just cut it out why are you guys behaving so awkwardly. I am completely fine now. Look" she said and stood up and walked around, "look completely healed and anyways I think I was a little drowsy before I passed out but now I am fine. So please come back to your normal selves," she said and went to the kitchen and drank some water.
"Shall we tell her she is acting really weird, now?" Ross asked Emma.
"Nah..... she won't believe us anyway" Emma replied.
"Adriet what are you thinking," Will asked me.
"I think we should tell her," I said while eyeing her sitting figure.
"Adriet are you out if your mind," Ross asked while coming near me, "and do you think she will trust us after that. No Adriet she will just run away," he asked.
"Let me handle it"
"Fine Adriet if you don't want to hear us then we can't really help. I'll see you guys. Bye," Emma said and went out.
Roselyn Bell
I needed to be very calm I don't want any kind of interrogation, especially from Adriet. I don't want to talk about it. I trying really hard to act normal. But I am normal I guess although it won't really make any difference to them or anyone. Now I just need to find a way to get out of here. I was being very restless now and couldn't get over my anxiety. So I decided to go back to my room. But should I tell Adriet about it? I mean he is the only one who can help me, right? But I have no idea if I should tell him or not.
"Adriet" I called for him. I was hesitant to talk about it but I had to, although those people had told me not to.
"Are you fine" the tone in which he was talking to me was really very odd for me. I mean all the concern that he was showing it was so foreign to me.
"Why are you being so nice to me," I asked him blankly. But in return, I heard his velvety chuckle. "I am sure you didn't want to ask me that," he said while taking a seat in front of me on one of the stools.
"No I mean suddenly you are being so nice to me and all gentle. If it's because of the incident then it's fine you don't have to conceal your true feeling for me" I never liked those people who in reality hate me but try to act all sweet and coy in front of me.
"And what do you think my true feeling is for you," he asked while giving me a sly smile.
"That you hate me?" It came out more like a question.
"I don't hate it's just that you lack few screws and that really pisses me off," he said while giving me a hearty laugh.
"If you say so," I said while averting my gaze.
"What did you want to tell me anyway," he asked while taking a water bottle out of the fridge.
"Ummm..... yes actually I wanted to tell you something," I said while fidgeting in my seat.
"Go on I am all ears," he said in an over dramatic expression.
"Well, those people who had drugged me in the mall they had asked me to come and meet them. They had told me that they will let me know the place but had told me to sneak out without your knowledge of course. And I don't know if I should go or not" I said it in one breath. I wasn't looking at him I didn't want to look at him.
"Why are you telling me this when those people asked you not to," he asked in a flat voice taking a sip of his water.
"I don't know I thought maybe you'll help me maybe I ca-"
"-trust me," he said. I looked up at him and saw his straight face staring at me blankly.
"Maybe?" I wasn't sure how to reply to that.
"Bell I hope you know that I am not a simple man. You can't trust me as you never know when I may betray you" he sighed. "But if you want to trust me then I don't have a problem with that," he said while shrugging his shoulders. "When did they ask you to meet," he asked.
"They said that I'll have to call at the reception and ask for some Mathew or something," I said that and he sharply turned his face at me.
"At the reception?" He asked as in I had said something foreign.
"Why are you so shocked," I asked while drumming my fingers on the counter.
"There must be an insider who is helping those people," he said and quickly reached for his phone.
"How can you be so sure," I asked while following him to his room.
"Because the hotel belongs to me. So there is no way any one of them could enter" he said while sticking phone to his ears.
"Ross I need you to come here right now," he said and hung up. "Roselyn I want you to go to your room and try not to bother me" he is practically shoving me out. What a jerk. I didn't even want to look at him I was sick of him. What does he think of himself? That bastard. But me being me I like an obedient child went out. I don't get it. I don't know what is happening to my feminist side. I am a feminist but I don't know why I was not able to say anything to him. I decided to go to the living room and scroll through the TV channels.
"Hey Roselyn," Ross said as he entered.
"Hey," I said without looking at him.
"I see nothing is pleasing you" his ironic smirk still plastered on his face.
"Not really," I said in an annoyed tone.
"Jeez you don't have to be so rude," he said faking a hurt expression.
"I thought you were used to it. After all, Adriet is ruder than me" I said while looking through the channels.
"Now I know what it's about," he said while scratching his neck. "Don't worry he is not that rude, after all" he said with his boyish charm.
"You really fancy him don't you," I said while sitting straight up on the couch.
"Ross" Adriet barked from his room.
"Now I don't fancy him anymore" he rolled his eyes and went to his room. After a few minutes which felt like hours, I started getting curious as to what they were doing. I wanted to go and have a look but then that would have been rude. As in you care. My conscience mocked me. When I was about to go and ask them Adriet came out.
"Bell I want you to make the call"
