Chapter Four

Present

Savannah sat in the bed, fear gripped her intensely. Her “husband” is back. Although from his silhouette, he looks fit and not like an old pervert. Suddenly the light turned on. The brightness made her wince, she brought her hands to block the ray of light entering her eyes.

Jaxon watched Savannah's reaction in amusement. He smirked as she shrunk back in fear while he advanced towards her, standing close to the bed, his entire body towered over her little frame. Savannah gulped as she watched him, unable to predict his next move or tell what was in his mind.

“He…hello”, she stuttered in a timid voice laced with fear.

“Savannah Miller, daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Miller, my sworn enemies”. Jaxon said, his tone underlying with deep menace. Savannah involuntarily shivered from his cold stare. His words confused her. Her parents were good people, how could they be his sworn enemies.

“I…I…I”, Savannah tried speaking but couldn't find any words. This person knows who she was and who her parents were.

“You know my parents?” She asked

Her question earned a look of shock from Jaxon, of all things she asked this.

“You seem slow, little wife, yes I know your parents, in fact they're the main reason I married you”. A sinister smile grew on Jaxon's face, his intention was to scare and intimidate Savannah. Watching the daughter of his parents' killers squirm in fear gives him a sense of satisfaction.

“They're the reason? I don't understand”

“You don't need to”, came Jaxon's sharp voice. The room became quiet as neither said anything. Jaxon just watched Savannah intensely.

“You are my husband?”. Savannah asked, breaking the silence, eyes wide this time. She had truly believed Tancy's lies. If this man was her husband then that's a huge relief. He wasn't old or grotesque, he was handsome, devastatingly handsome.

Tall, broad sharp features and dark eyes that held something dangerous. He looked like a man carved from power and control. But she wouldn't conclude too soon as he could be worse than a perverted, ugly old man. But still, she was enamored by his attractive features. He looked like he could pull both genders effortlessly.

Gasp!

“Ouch”, Savannah winced. Jaxon suddenly grasped her chin in a tight grip, forcing her to look at him wearily. Her lack of attention towards him annoyed him. Looking at her so close, he finally got to see her clearly, big doe eyes that looked teary, a small straight nose with plump lips. Lips begging to be kissed. His body suddenly felt hot, reacting towards her.

Clearing his throat, he released her and placed his hands in his pocket to cover his hard on. Jaxon wondered how merely looking at her could result in such a reaction. Savannah, oblivious to what she unintentionally caused, kept looking at him. Her cluelessness suddenly angered him.

“Listen up, you're only my wife by name okay, don't get any ideas. You are just a tool for me and if I were you, I'd be more worried about the things coming ahead because trust me they won't be nice and that's a promise”. Jaxon said in a resolute voice.

“So if you know what's good for you, you will obey me and stay out of my way because crossing me even for the slightest reason will not go unpunished”.

“I don't understand, I promise I'll be obedient and won't cause you any trouble. I'll also be a good wife. Please don't hurt me”. Savannah pleaded, scared of his promise to hurt her.

“Hurt you?” He chuckled, “that's exactly what I plan on doing”. Tears started streaming down Savannah's face again at his words.

“You're going to suffer every single day. You have no idea how much I loathe you simply for being the daughter of the people who…” Jaxon stopped before he revealed more. He wanted Savannah to suffer. What better way to do that than by getting punished for reasons you don't know.

“W…why, why do I have to suffer? Why do you hate me?” Savannah asked between sobs. Her cries bothered Jaxon but he refused to feel anything so he hardened his heart.

“Because you deserve it”. He said, his figure towering over her, imposing on her as he let go of her chin.

“Anyway, blame your unfortunate fate for being a Miller and be prepared for my revenge”. Jaxon said and turned to walk out of the room.

“Welcome to your new life Mrs Blake”. Jaxon said one last time and then shut the door behind him. Tears streamed down Savannah's face, she felt like she just left a terrible place and ended up somewhere much worse. She didn't understand why he was doing this to her.

“Why me? Why do I always have to suffer?”. She cried. His interaction with her clearly depicted one thing. He hated her and also her parents. But her parents were dead and even before their death they were good people. Why did he talk about getting revenge when she doesn't even know anything. Also how was her parents the reason why he married her.

A lot of unanswered questions went through Savannah's head, coupled with crying from the overwhelming events that had taken place in the past 48 hours, she soon developed a migraine. Savannah wanted to go and ask Irene for medicine that can help her headache but was too scared of leaving the room. Scared of running into Jaxon unintentionally. She doesn't want to do anything that will trigger him.

A knock on the door caught her attention.

“Who's there?”

“It's me Irene”.

Savannah sighed in relief and asked Irene to enter. Her stomach grumbled after seeing the tray of food in her hand.

“I brought you dinner, you slept for the entire day so you must be hungry” Irene said as she placed the food tray on the vanity table.

“Thank you, I appreciate it”, Savannah said with sincerity. “Also can I have some medicine please, I have a headache and it hurts very much”.

“Definitely madam, I'll be back with it shortly”. Irene turned to leave. Savannah stood up from the bed to eat. She felt a bit relieved and took the medicine Irene brought her while she was eating. She waited for a while but the headache still did not subside. Lying down on the bed, Savannah closed her eyes, hoping for sleep to take her away into a dream land, away from the headache and from people setting out to hurt her. Away from the overwhelming feeling of exhaustion.

“No uncle stop, don't do this please”

“Be good, I promise it won't hurt”

“No, no no no”

“No!!!!”.

Savannah woke up from a terrible nightmare, one that has plagued her for years. Her entire body is soaked from sweat, her heart beating rapidly from the nightmare. One she has desperately tried to forget but can't. Her uncle Kevin, had sexually assaulted her as a teenager, after her parents death. What broke her the most was her own aunt, Trisha, was in support of what happened back then. She saw it and didn't bother to help.

Savannah harboured deep resentment towards her aunt after the incident, how could her mother's blood sister be so cruel. She stood from the bed and went downstairs to get water. But the house was so big she ended up wandering and getting lost.
