Chapter 7 Loans
Everyone was stunned, listening as Flynn counted out loud. When Flynn took his fifth step, Elis suddenly spewed a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground unconscious.
Boom!
Brandon's mind exploded with shock. He quickly picked up his father and tried pinching the pressure point on his hand while shaking him, but there was no response from the old man - only dilated pupils.
"Your father already had lung heat symptoms and poor circulation. Eating something like ginseng that nourishes energy would be strange if he didn't die!" Flynn's eyes were cold and indifferent.
Brandon was taken aback at first, but then a glimmer of hope shone in his eyes as he spoke respectfully, "So you mean to say that you can save my father?"
"I'm not interested," replied Flynn before turning to leave. He had already advised Brandon earlier, but he didn't listen and even made sarcastic remarks towards him - why bother wasting more time?
Flynn had connections that reached far and wide. With just one phone call, countless bank executives would come knocking at his door, begging for a loan.
When Aisino Bank refused to grant the Kaur family a loan, they decided to try their luck with other banks.
Upon hearing this news, Brandon quickly apologized. "Mr. Clark, I was out of line earlier and said some hurtful things. Please don't take it to heart..."
He trailed off awkwardly and looked over at Edwin for help.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Edwin spoke up urgently. "Mr. Clark, Mr. Pearce has always been a kind man who even fought in the war when he was young."
"This illness is a result of an old injury sustained during that time. Please don't stoop down to Colonel Pearce's level. Please help save the old man!"
Owen also chimed in respectfully, "I apologize for my earlier behavior towards Mr. Clark. I am willing to accept any punishment you see fit! We only ask that you lend us your hand."
"Mr. Pearce fought in the war?" Flynn's eyebrows furrowed deeply as he pressed down hard on Elis' stomach.
"Wow!" Elis fell onto his knees while black blood gushed out from his mouth.
"What do you mean by this? You wouldn't hit an old man just because you don't want to save him!" Brandon was getting angry now.
"Shut up! I feel great," Elis slowly stood back up again as his face turned from dull grey into rosy red!
The whole person looked like he had never been sick before, full of vitality!
Brandon was shocked and quickly apologized, "Master Clark's skills are amazing and divine. It was my misunderstanding."
"You saved my father's life. Please allow me to bow to you!"
"Master Clark, you saved my life. Please allow me to express my gratitude!" Elis also bowed respectfully.
Flynn said coldly, "If it weren't for the Kaur family's loan issue, I wouldn't care if you lived or died."
"Since I've saved you, approve the loan!"
"Loan?" Elis was stunned for a moment and immediately turned to Brandon and said, "Quickly call your brother! Make sure he approves the Kaur family's loan within ten minutes!"
Brandon immediately took out his phone and gave some instructions before hanging up. He then respectfully said, "Master Clark, the loan will be deposited in ten minutes!"
"Please give me some face so that my father can thank you."
"Tomorrow!" Flynn saw that Elis and his son were both looking forward eagerly, so after thinking about it for a moment, he nodded in agreement.
Elis had experienced many storms over several decades so even though he was excited inside, he remained calm on the surface. He instructed Owen who was standing nearby, "Write down Master Clark's phone number and send him back later."
Afterwards, he turned to Flynn and said, "Mr. Clark, you can just call Owen tomorrow and have him pick you up."
"If you ever have any trouble in Niarak, just tell Owen. My Pearce family still has some face in Niarak!"
Flynn shook his head after hearing this. "I'll go there myself tomorrow afternoon. There's no need for anything else."
He only agreed to eat with the old man out of respect for his participation in the war effort, but he didn't want to have too much contact with the Pearce family or be bothered by them.
After declining their offer, Flynn left the mountain alone.
The others didn't say anything more and quickly followed him down.
Several tourists who were hiking up the mountain witnessed this scene and were shocked by it.
"Am I seeing things? The richest man in Niarak and the father-son duo from the Pearce family are following behind a young man like they're afraid of offending him!"
"The Gallagher family and Pearce family are both top families in Niarak, yet they're all smiles towards a young man as if they're scared of him! This is terrifying!"
"Oh my god! Look at how this young man is being treated so respectfully but acting like it's nothing. Could he be someone from Slatin?"
Edwin couldn't help but laugh at that thought.
Someone from Slatin?
Even the six elders at the Imperial Center spoke very respectfully towards Flynn; let alone Slatin's first wealthy household - the Watson family!
If they saw Flynn now, they would probably bow their heads down to their belly buttons!
"This person has achieved so much at such a young age, and his future is limitless," remarked someone.
"Brandon, tomorrow you'll be cleaning our mansion from top to bottom. Don't offend him!" cautioned Elis as he watched Flynn leave.
After Flynn left in his car, a Ferrari drove toward the Phoenix Hill.
Kimber, looking through the car window, saw Elis with rosy cheeks and a vigorous stride. She couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Miss, your medical skills are getting better and better. Mr. Pearce drank your medicine and didn't even need his cane anymore!"
Layla smiled faintly after hearing this.
"I was planning on checking on Mr. Pearce's recovery status and prescribing some more health supplements for him."
"But now that he's full of life again, there's no need for that. Let's go."
"Do we not need to check on him?" asked Kimber.
"No need. If Elis invites me to dinner as a thank you, it would be hard to decline," Layla replied as she turned the car towards the mountain.
"Miss, you're improving rapidly lately. I think you'll soon surpass your master!" Kimber said admiringly.
In less than a minute at the airport terminal, she saved someone suffering from severe heart attack.
A dose of medicine made Elis feel alive and energetic. Looking out at the bustling streets of Ostrad, Layla couldn't help but feel excited.
"Keep it low-key," she reminded herself.
Her goal wasn't to surpass the Green Liniment Ghost Doctor. No, her sights were set on a man known as the "King of the Underworld." He was said to be able to bring back even those who had already passed away, his medical skills surpassing even that of a god.
"The King of the Underworld is my lifelong pursuit!" Layla declared.
...
Meanwhile, Madeline received news that her bank loan had been approved and jumped for joy. She immediately called Alan.
"Mr. Davies, your efficiency is incredible! It's only been one day and Aisino Bank has already approved our loan!" she exclaimed.
Alan looked bewildered. He had indeed called Aisino Bank but Jasper had given him an earful and he couldn't figure out how the Kaur family managed to get their loan approved so quickly.
"Maybe Mr. Pearce granted us this favor because of my father's connections," he speculated.
"Madeline, we're good friends, and since I promised to help you, I'll definitely follow through!"
"My Davies's Group is a top-quality enterprise in Niarak, so of course Mr. Pearce will give me face!"
"I called him this morning, but Jasper still took the whole morning."
"I need to talk to him later. He's not giving my family enough respect!"
Madeline was surprised by what she heard.
The Kaur's Group couldn't get a loan no matter how hard they tried, but Alan solved it with just one phone call! The Davies' Group was really something else!
"Did you get the loan sorted out?" Matteo asked Madeline as she jumped for joy.
"Yeah! Alan took care of it for me!"
Paulina couldn't help but exclaim, "Look at how dedicated Alan is! He said he'd help and got the loan approved on the second day!"
"Unlike Flynn who talks big without any real skill."
"Matteo, are you sure you want your daughter with him?"
Matteo shook his head, "Davies is from the Davies' Group and naturally has better connections than Flynn." But he continued, "I believe that Flynn won't be worse off than Alan in the future. Let's not compare them anymore."
"Madeline, Mr. Davies has done us a huge favor, you should thank him," Matteo said.
"And also Mr. Pearce, we should go and thank him too."
Madeline nodded in agreement. "Yes! Myriad Dragon Merchant Guild owes us 4 million dollars and Alan helped me set up a meeting with Mr. Read from the Guild."
"I have to go to Dream Club tonight, so I don't have time to visit the Pearce family. Let's do it tomorrow," Madeline said.
"Okay! Let's bring Flynn with us when we visit both the Pearce family and Dream Club. It'll be good for him to broaden his horizons!" Matteo suggested.
"Fynn?" Madeline frowned in confusion.
Scarlet nudged her with her hand and whispered softly, "It'll be good for him to come along too. He's never been to such high-end places before and he might embarrass himself."
"He'll be feeling ashamed because he can't face people after what happened. He won't bother you anymore!"
