Chapter 5 Despicable
"Mr. Davies, you bought a painting by Master Timothy and gave it to Mr. Simpson for me?" Madeline hurried over to Alan, shocked.
"Hey! Madeline, don't get excited. We're good friends, and this is what I should do!" Alan smiled and looked at Flynn with a cold gaze. "And who is this?"
"A frog that just got out of prison. Don't mind him!" Paulina came out of the kitchen holding a plate of stir-fried mushrooms and said in a weird tone,"Mr. Davies, you're too kind. You came all this way and even spent so much to help Madeline. That's really considerate!"
"Unlike some people, who disappear for several years and don't even bother to send a fart!"
Flynn ignored her and glanced at Alan indifferently, "That's the painting I gave Mr. Kaur, when did it become yours?"
Everyone was stunned by his words.
"Flynn, have you no shame?" Paulina was angry now and glared at him, "Do you even know how much that painting is worth? It's an authentic work by Master Timothy worth millions! Can you afford it?"
"You want everything for yourself! Why don't you mention that the Thodell Mansion on Plenilune Mountain belongs to you too?"
Matteo said seriously, "Flynn, we can't joke about this!"
Alan waved his hand lightly, "Mrs. Kuar, I understand that he didn't bring any gifts because he felt guilty in his heart. He took the painting as his own for the sake of standing firm in the Kaur family."
"I understand."
"Um... that painting belongs to him!" He then pointed to the two bottles of wine on the foyer and said, "I only brought two bottles of alcohol when I came. I didn't bring 'Scenery in Mist and Rain'!"
Alan's move was a retreat to advance, which directly made Paulina's dissatisfaction with Flynn reach its peak.
"Flynn, my daughter has married you. Do you still want to compete with Mr. Davies for credit?"
"People need face just as trees need bark!"
"It clearly belongs to Mr. Davies, but you insist it's your own!"
"You have no shame! I'm embarrassed for you!"
Paulina scolded Flynn mercilessly without leaving him any face.
Madeline also looked down on Flynn.
This guy had no real skills and yet he was thick-skinned.
He must have heard her mother laughing at him for not bringing a gift and wanted to take credit for giving the painting himself.
How despicable!
"Mr. Kaur, I'm not joking. When I entered the door, I put the painting in the foyer," Flynn continued explaining,
"When Scarlet opened the door for me earlier, don't believe me? You can ask her."
Matteo nodded and said, "That works too. Scarlet has been sleeping all day. Food is ready now so let's wake her up and ask."
"This child is always playing on her phone until midnight. We need to find her a job as soon as possible!" Paulina said, slamming the bedroom door a few times.
Scarlet yawned and opened the door.
"Scarlet, did Flynn bring the painting when he came in?"
"Painting?" Scarlet rubbed her eyes and couldn't understand what Paulina was saying.
"Yes, Mr. Davies brought a masterpiece by Timothy and Flynn insisted that he brought it in with him. He even said you saw it when you opened the door," Paulina explained.
"Timothy's painting? I didn't see it!" Scarlet blinked.
When Flynn arrived, she was sleeping on the couch and couldn't even open her eyes to answer the door. But she did remember seeing Flynn carrying a scroll.
But so what?
Even if Flynn brought in the painting, it was stolen. People like him didn't deserve anyone speaking up for them.
Everyone's attention turned to Flynn at this point, waiting to see if he had anything else to say.
Paulina spoke bluntly, "You have nothing left to say now. Someone as shameless as you would have their tongue cut off in ancient times!"
"Worthless liar!"
Alan sneered as he watched Flynn being ridiculed. "Enough, let's not talk about him anymore. After all, he just came back and needs to show off a bit. Let's cut him some slack."
"If he wants to show off, he should use his real skills! What's the difference between stealing and claiming someone else's million-dollar painting as his own?" Scarlet rolled her eyes at Flynn in disgust and turned her head away.
This guy was unbearable to look at. Madeline marrying him was like inheriting bad luck from eight generations ago.
Flynn chuckled coldly and said to Alan, "You have no idea who you're messing with. I suggest you be kind or you won't even get the chance to kneel!"
"Enough!" Madeline's face darkened as she spoke sternly, "Flynn, are you ever going to stop? Mr. Davies is speaking up for you yet you still dare threaten him!"
"Do you even know who you're messing with? You, an ex-convict, what's with the attitude? You want to punch Mr. Davies and go back to prison for a few more years?"
Flynn glanced at Scarlet indifferently before saying coldly, "If you think carefully about it, then surely you know that it was me who brought the painting."
"What were your intentions when hiding this fact?"
The girl looked innocent but couldn't help lying through her teeth.
Scarlet hid behind Madeline in mock fear and said jokingly, "He wouldn't hit me too right? It was your painting anyway, wasn't it?"
"Hey, Auntie, that's the painting Flynn brought. Don't talk about him anymore," Scarlet pleaded with a pitiful look.
Paulina was furious. "Flynn, you useless piece of crap! You stole Mr. Davies' credit and threatened Scarlet!"
"Do you want me to throw you out right now?"
"Okay!" Matteo intervened loudly. "That's enough! Let's not bring this up again."
"We've got the project and we're signing a contract worth 10 million in two days."
"The Kaur Group only has a few thousands in funds. Did the bank approve our loan application?"
"I just called them and they rejected our loan application again," Madeline shook her head.
"Ugh!" Matteo sighed heavily. "We can't even get back the 3 million from Myriad Dragon Merchant Guild, let alone sign the contract without getting approved for any loans."
"If this keeps up, you won't be able to remain as a CEO."
Paulina's face was clouded with concern. Alan gave a sly cough and said, "Mrs. Kuar, didn't Flynn say he bought the painting? Someone who can afford to buy a painting worth millions should have some skills, right? Shouldn't we ask him for help?"
After saying this, Alan turned to Flynn with a playful expression on his face.
A recently released convict, he looked like a country bumpkin who had just appeared out of nowhere.
He probably couldn't even get into the bank's front door. Let's see how this played out!
However, Flynn simply said, "Sure, it's no big deal."
"No big deal?!"
Everyone was shocked when they heard this and stared at Flynn with wide eyes.
"Shut your stinking mouth!" Paulina immediately shouted. "Is your family the one that owns the bank or something? It's just a loan of 10 million dollars!"
"If you don't speak up, no one will treat you as dumb. If you say another word, get lost!"
"A useless waste who always has to show off everything!"
Flynn's face darkened and his eyes shot out cold glints like knives, "Are you finished?"
If it weren't for helping Matteo solve his problems, he wouldn't even want to step foot in the Kaur family's door.
"What? You still want to hit me?" Paulina was taken aback by Flynn's gloomy expression but stubbornly retorted.
"Mrs. Kuar, there is no need to be angry. Let me help Madeline find Aisino Bank," Alan quickly intervened as peacemaker.
"Well then, Mr. Davies, we really appreciate it," Paulina smiled and nodded as her mood brightened again.
"Mr. Kaur, it's getting late. I'm going back," Flynn said, feeling bored as he picked up his package and left the Kaur family.
He was already in a bad mood today and didn't feel like arguing with them anymore. He couldn't stand their cold treatment of him!
Matteo frowned. He was annoyed by the loan issue and didn't bother stopping Flynn from leaving.
Flynn arrived at the Plenilune Mountain.
This was Niarak's wealthy district, with over twenty villas on the mountainside. Even the cheapest one cost 50 million dollars.
And at the top of the mountain was Thodell Mansion, Villa No. 1 - a three-thousand-square-meter mansion worth 300 million dollars that belonged to Cruz, the Northern War God.
Nowadays, this mansion belonged to Flynn.
After taking a shower, Flynn saw more than ten sports cars parked in his garage - Maybachs, Lamborghinis, Rolls-Royces, Koenigseggs - you name it!
Flynn drove down the Plenilune Mountain in his Lamborghini and headed towards the riverbank for some fresh air.
"Hmm? Is that him?" Layla suddenly hit her brakes in shock when she saw a Lamborghini speeding past her on Plenilune Mountain's peak.
"Who is it?" Kimber asked beside her curiously.
Layla furrowed her brow. "I think I saw Flynn coming down from the mountain in a Lamborghini..."
