Chapter 12 Going Public

"Madeline, the bank loan of 10 million has been deposited. You can finally use this money to make a big move!"

"Our company is preparing to go public. Would you like to invest?"

Madeline was taken aback. The Davies' Pharmaceuticals was a large enterprise with a market value of over 100 million dollars. It had been rated as a high-quality enterprise in Niarak for five consecutive years and paid nearly 10 million in taxes each year. In the past two years, it had already raised two rounds of financing and its stock was in high demand.

This time going public would definitely double its market value!

"Going public? I haven't seen any announcement from your company about financing," Scarlet said suspiciously.

Usually when companies want to raise funds they will first release an announcement so that investors can subscribe, but there hadn't been any news from the Davies family recently.

Alan explained with a smile, "As you all know, the Davies' Pharmaceuticals have paid over 10 million in taxes for six consecutive years."

"Nowadays, pharmaceuticals are hot and have great potential for growth. Once we go public, our stocks will definitely soar! How could we let others take advantage of us?"

"So this is an internal subscription only and not open to outsiders."

"We should share some benefits with our employees after all - once we go public, they'll receive dividends!"

"If it weren't for us knowing each other for over ten years, I wouldn't mention this deal - it's guaranteed to earn several times what we put in."

Madeline's face lit up with excitement. The Kaur family business was stagnant and in desperate need of new projects. As the CEO, she turned to Cameron for a project that could help the Kaur family recover.

Now, Alan had come to their aid like a knight in shining armor. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Madeline, I talked to my dad for half a day before he agreed to give me 20 million subscription rights."

"If you don't have that much money, invest as much as you can and I'll give the rest to our employees!"

Madeline hesitated, "I want to invest 20 million but we can only get 10 million from bank loans. The company has 6 million available funds and Myriad Dragon Merchant Guild owes us 4 million."

"Even if we get all that money back, we still need another 10 million for Mr. Simpson's project."

Alan smiled, "Mr. Simpson's project is risky with a long profit cycle."

"But investing in my family's IPO could double our investment at least six times over! This is an opportunity of a lifetime!"

"Of course! You decide how much you want to invest. It doesn't matter to me." Alan took on an indifferent stance and stopped talking.

"In that case, I'll hold off on signing with Mr. Simpson," Madeline nodded her head.

"After I go back today, I'll transfer 16 million first then ask Myriad Dragon Merchant Guild tomorrow."

"Mr. Davies, you have to keep that 4 million for me!"

"Haha!" Alan laughed, "Madeline, you're too polite. I will definitely save it for you until the end."

"I'll also say hello to Mr. Read later."

"Don't worry, he will definitely pay back the 4 million!"

"Hmm? Why isn't Scarlet saying anything? Do you want to buy something?"

"I'll pass," Scarlet shook her head and smiled bitterly as she refused.

Her family, the Wong family, was a second-tier luxury in Pelens City and slightly stronger than the Kaur family. Last year her family arranged a marriage for her with someone from a first-tier luxury in Pelens City but Scarlet didn't like him so she ran away to Niarak and didn't want to contact her family for now.

Alan's face flashed disappointment after hearing this but he didn't say anything more.

The three finished their meal and went home separately.

Soon after, Flynn received Matteo's call saying they had something good to celebrate so they invited him over at the Kaur family's place for dinner tonight.

Flynn couldn't refuse politely so he left the Pearce family's Mansion and came over at Kaur family's place.

"Flynn! We've been busy with company affairs lately so we haven't had time to invite you over for dinner."

"Now that everything is settled down, we got ourselves a deal that would guarantee profits for our company! Let's drink together tonight!" Matteo pulled Flynn down to sit and smiled.

"Mr. Kaur, what business has you so confident?"

"The Davies' Pharmaceuticals group is planning to go public soon and is currently increasing stocks. They've given my family 20 million in subscription rights," Matteo said proudly.

"It's is a high-quality enterprise in Niarak. When they increased stocks two years ago, it was hard to get a share, and those who did made a fortune."

"So this time, they're not offering it publicly but as an employee benefit for internal staff."

"If it weren't for Madeline's good relationship with Alan, our family wouldn't have had this opportunity!"

"20 million..." Flynn's mouth twitched involuntarily.

He had heard at the Pearce family's Mansion that the Davies father-son duo lost 30 million gambling in Astia and their new drug development also ran into problems.

The group was already 100 million in debt and even Jasper the banker refused their loan request over dinner.

It could be said that the Davies family was besieged both inside and out, on the brink of bankruptcy yet still planning to go public?

Flynn thought about it calmly before advising seriously, "Mr. Kaur, investing in Davies' Pharmaceuticals stock would be unwise. You should withdraw your investment."

"At the beginning of the year, the Davies father-son duo lost 30 million gambling while their new drug development faced issues."

"They are already 100 million dollars in debt; going public this time is just a cover-up for raising funds before running away."

"Mr. Kaur, I believe that investing with Davies' Pharmaceuticals will lead to disaster. Don't trust Alan's lies!" Flynn warned sternly.

"What?!" The crowd's eyes widened.

Madeline scowled and said in a low voice, "Flynn, you're just jealous of others' success because you can't achieve anything yourself!"

"Every time Mr. Davies helps us, you either take credit for it or badmouth him. I seriously suspect that there's something wrong with your mental state!"

Paulina added, "Mr. Davies saw that our family was in trouble and begged for 20 million shares on our behalf."

"You actually slandered them by saying they have 100 million in debt?"

"He can spend millions on paintings and make one phone call to get Mr. Pearce to loan money to our family. Does that sound like a bankrupt family?"

"And last time at the club, you beat up Mr. Read. If it weren't for Alan's intervention, you would have been disabled by now and might even harm our family!"

"I really don't understand why someone who saved your life would be defamed like this! Have you no conscience?"

Scarlet didn't jump out to accuse Flynn as usual but remained silent instead.

Was what she saw last night really Flynn?

"Flynn, I know you have issues with Alan but Madeline only sees him as a friend," Matteo advised solemnly.

"This concerns the future of our family. Don't spread rumors and offend the Davies family everywhere!"

Flynn couldn't help but smile wryly and said helplessly, "Mr. Kaur, I'm not spreading rumors. This is what I heard from someone at the Pearce family's Mansion today - someone from the Pearce family."

"The Pearce family's Mansion?" Paulina chuckled before turning her head towards Matteo coldly,

"Matteo, the son-in-law you found is really impressive. He even boasted about the Pearce family!"

"I bet it won't be long before he claims to have connections with the governor!"

"Hmph! He doesn't even know his own place!"

"A convict like him wants to enter the Pearce family's mansion? I'm afraid he'll get his legs broken and thrown onto the street before he even reaches their doorstep!"

Madeline looked disgusted and annoyed. "Flynn, is it so hard for you to admit that someone else is talented?"

"I don't need your help. Can you please stop interfering?"

"Remember your position. Don't meddle in Kaur family affairs, let alone slander Mr. Davies!" Madeline warned.

Scarlet wanted to defend Flynn but was interrupted by Matteo, "Flynn, don't overthink it. Our family's cooperation with Davies family is only a business relationship and has nothing to do with personal matters."

"You will always be Madeline's husband in my heart. Alan can never replace you," Matteo added.

"So stop being jealous of Alan and let's not discuss this matter anymore."

Flynn shrugged helplessly and left the Kaur family using an excuse.

"Oh well! Maybe it's because he hasn't seen much of the world since childhood."

"He just needs a few years in Niarak and more exposure to high society through Madeline."

Matteo watched Flynn leave and shook his head before heading towards his study room.

"Madeline, I think Flynn is right. Let's not get involved in the Davies' Pharmaceuticals IPO," Scarlet advised thoughtfully.

"And I think Flynn helped with the loan approval through Jasper," she added.

Flynn had previously mentioned that getting the loan approved was a piece of cake. And today, when Scarlet saw him at the Pearce family's Mansion, she became even more suspicious that Flynn had something to do with it.

Madeline couldn't believe what she was hearing and stared at Scarlet in disbelief. "Scarlet, what did Flynn give you to make you speak up for him?" she exclaimed.

"He's just a troublemaker. Don't be fooled by him. How could an ex-convict like him be invited to the Pearce family's Mansion?" Madeline felt incredulous that Scarlet would defend someone like Flynn.

Scarlet quickly shook her head and said, "No, no! I just think we should be cautious about this."

"After spending time with him these past few days, I actually think he's a good guy. You should treat him better from now on!" Scarlet continued.

Madeline was even more incredulous after hearing this and sneered sarcastically, "Do you have a crush on Flynn? Should I give him to you?"

"I..." Scarlet blushed and ran into her bedroom without answering Madeline's question.

"What's wrong with this girl? Could it be that she really likes Flynn?" Madeline frowned but then smiled slyly, "Come to think of it, arranging for Scarlett to marry off might not be such a bad idea after all!"

"Scarlet doesn't have any ambitions. Marrying Flynn won't affect her much."

"But I am destined to become a star in the sky. Flynn is not worthy of me..."

Flynn returned to Thodell Mansion and had just sat down when the doorbell rang.

Through the electronic monitor, he saw Layla standing outside the door in a slim purple dress.

She wore a pink tight-fitting t-shirt inside that showcased her curvaceous figure perfectly.

"What an annoying person. She shows up wherever I go and I can't shake her off!" Flynn stood up to open the door.

But then he heard Layla say, "General Cruz of War God, I am Layla."

"I have found out why Dark Night Temple's Four Heavenly Kings came to Niarak. They came for me."

"Thank you for your help. I would like to invite you for dinner as a token of my gratitude."

Flynn was taken aback by this unexpected turn of events.

Was this woman looking for Cruz?
