After this incident, I lie down on my bed and contemplate my ceiling. I have to focus on these two attacks. Dibagne's and Sayronne's undoubtedly involve the elves, but with the latter, I know that someone was the target of the attack. Sayronne is very familiar to me, I've heard that name before. I try to dive into my memories and without a doubt, only one person could have told me about this city.
To confirm, I search my things in the hope of finding the letter where she talks about it, but unsurprisingly, I didn't bring her. I try to paint his handwriting in my mind and after several minutes of concentration, on the ceiling, I see the words of Thais. My only friend who in addition to being a wood elf is the person who is the most powerful and respected of her people. I remember some of those words "hide", "experience", "Sayronne".
Without a second of doubt, I know that tonight I have to go to this city. Running, I'll be there in more than two hours. However, so as not to have to have a bodyguard from the pack watch my every move, I decide to go there at night. I won't attract attention and I can finally be a little alone. I've only been here a few hours, but I already miss my loneliness too much.
I wait until night has already begun to jump out the window. The jump is not huge and I have to be discreet.
Luckily for me, the Supreme Abode is surrounded by a forest, which brings me one step closer to ghost status. I start to run, but among the different sounds that rock me, one particularly disturbs me. I hear the heartbeat of a deer and the hoot of an owl. However, in all this auditory orchestra, I perceive a heartbeat that is too strong, too fast. Too human.
Someone is following me. Without a doubt. The question is: who among the pack is following me? Ezequiel? Brett? Idys?
Wanting to know, I stop in a clearing and say:
"I hear your heart...
- You definitely have very good ears, much better than normal, he replies after a short silence.
- What are you doing here Ezequiel?
- Imagine that I like to walk in the forest at night and imagine my surprise when I saw you slaloming between the trees. Where are you going, he asks me as he steps out of the shadows.
- I'm going to Sayronne.
-You think you know who the missing person is?
I don't answer, but it's an eloquent silence. So he understands that I have a lead. He does not insist. Perfect. I decide to run to resume my path, leaving him there. However, the latter gets into my gear and runs beside me. I don't look at him and continue my run, because I know full well that he won't want to leave me alone. What a ball.
After a very long run, we arrive at the home of the missing person. He doesn't know for a full second during the ride.
I enter the house, closely followed by Ezequiel. Thanks to our werewolf condition, the darkness of the house is not a problem. I who have trouble with my nature, I must admit that it is rather practical.
While avoiding the pieces of furniture on the floor, I see in the supposed living room a small library. I go there with agility. This carved piece of furniture is to the left of a painting representing a forest. I approach and bend down to pick up the books that have fallen there. Directly, several grimoires support my theory. There are books of all kinds, but the most recurrent are those on elves, magic, witches and potions.
I then decide to go to another room in the house: the bedroom. This place, unlike the rest of the house, is not ransacked. I open the cupboard and see that this piece of furniture is filled with large black capes. I can't tell if these clothes belong to a woman or a man.
I remember then that the houses of the Wood Elves always have one or more secret passages. Indeed, the latter live on the fringes of other species, reclusive in an impenetrable magical forest. This people is the most mysterious and the one about which the other races know almost nothing. That's why, as soon as one of his green elves comes out of his forest (which is extremely rare). They want to stay hidden by camouflaging themselves and their secrets with passages, hiding places, underground... I wouldn't be surprised if Thais did the same thing.
I scrupulously analyze the different rooms that make up the house. I linger on the painting next to the bookcase. I don't know why, but I find this painting powerful. My hand approaches the painting which only holds with a hook, and takes it down. Nothing is behind, but my instinct pushes me to continue in this direction. I then look behind the painting. The back is simply wooden. However, I notice that two rings are attached to it. One down and one up. This detail seems rather odd to me since there is only one hook on the wall. I decide to remove the back of the frame to be able to access the painting. On the back of the canvas is a sentence:
"Vision is the art of seeing invisible things."
Ezequiel approaches me and reads the sentence in turn. Even before he opens his mouth, I understand what this quote means.
I put the canvas in the frame and hang it upside down.
I turn to Ezequiel and see that his eyes are shining. He seems possessed, hypnotized. I then look in the direction of his wonder: the painting has come to life.
