Oceane
- Beep Beep
I reach for the alarm clock with my hand and turn it off. This morning, I'm even more tired than usual. That'll teach me to stay up until 3 a.m. to finish my book. Reluctantly, I open my eyes and sit down.
Annabelle and Lucie are doing their makeup. Only 5 meters separate us and I can see that they have stuffed their makeup.
- OCEANE WAKE UP! Nora yells from below.
I don't answer and stand up with a sigh. I grab a sweater and jeans and head for the bathroom. I sigh seeing the tail. It's not my day.
A detail catches my attention, the girls are all in good spirits. I feel like the exception. Why are they so happy? After waiting 25 minutes, I go into the bathroom. The hot water flowing over my skin helps me wake up and relax.
On entering the room Annabelle and Lucie look at me from head to toe and laugh. As always I ignore them and pack my bag.
- Can you imagine? The most powerful!
- I hope he comes today, I'm too beautiful.
- Who is gonna come? I asked them curiously.
- An Alpha.
I comb my hair and look at it. Every time an Alpha arrives all the girls go into all their states. I never understood why.
- Not just any Alpha, Lucie intervenes. He is the strongest Alpha in the world.
- He was seen 100 km from here, which means he will arrive here soon. Carry on Annabelle.
I avoid answering and leave. They're so pathetic it's annoying. Going down the stairs Nora stops me. Dressed in her black dress that she never changes, she glares at me, smiling hypocritically.
- After school you go straight home! Chores are for you today.
- What? But I made them yesterday!
She shrugs and disappears into the living room. She has no right to blame everything on me. My hatred for this woman increases day by day. It's not possible to be that bad.
As I walk down the street, I put on my headphones and take in the view. Our city being surrounded by the forest has a very beautiful view. It's the only thing I like here, the forest. I tend to escape and take refuge there. I like to smell the smell of wood, to hear the songs of birds and the rays of the sun that pierce the leaves.
Arriving at school, I head to my locker. I open it and take my books.
- Hi.
I turn around and say hello to Aidan. He leans against the drawers and watches me put away the books that have fallen. Aidan is my only friend. No one was talking to me because of my past and then Aidan came along. He was immediately popular but unlike them, he never judged me. Since then, he spends most of the time with me. And I'm grateful to him.
- Did you hear? he asks me.
- The alpha?
- Yes, there are girls who were doing their makeup in the men's bathroom.
- No? I laughed.
- Yes, I couldn't pee in peace.
I laugh and close my locker. They are all obsessed with werewolves. When an Alpha arrives everyone prepares and when it's other wolves like omega's, nobody prepares. It's not very nice for them.
- Imagine, is he looking for you? He asks me walking beside me.
- Can you imagine the faces of the girls? I asked giggling. It will be too funny!
He stops and holds my arm, forcing me to stop too. I question him with my gaze, waiting for him to explain his gesture to me.
- Would you like it?
- Of course not! I exclaimed. I would never want to live with a wolf and especially not with an Alpha.
Satisfied with my answer he smiles and we resume our journey to our class. I imagine for a moment living with an Alpha but even thinking about it is impossible for me.
- They are all macho and possessive men, believing themselves to be allowed anything because they are stronger than the others. I kept complaining as I walked.
Aiden laughs and we go back to class. Appart a few boys the room is empty. The girls are getting ready, that's obvious, but what about the boys? As I was about to sit down, a teacher came into the classroom out of breath asking us to go into the yard.
We get up with a sigh and we head for the courtyard. No one is standing still, some are arranging their hair, others their clothes. I head for the start of the girl. The sooner we end this, the sooner this circus will end. Just as several luxury cars pull into the driveway my hand instinctively searches for my necklace, it's not there! Panicked, I search in my pockets. He is not there!
Suddenly I remember putting it in my bag. I leave the girl and run to my class. Everyone looks at me surprised. I grab my bag and take my necklace in my hand. I hug her tightly as I drop to the ground. I thought for a moment that I had lost him.
- How dare she leave my rank? Someone shout.
I hold my breath when I hear this deep voice that makes me shiver with fear.
- Your soul mate is not here, forget it. Someone says. We do not care.
- She's there, it's her.
Instantly, I get up and walk out into the hallway.
- What ?
I look at the three men who are less than 5 meters away. The middle one catches my eye. He wears a black t-shirt that brings out his muscles, he has brown hair and his eyes... his eyes that take me away from this world. A very intense green. Mouth slightly open, I watch him amaze. How can a man be so handsome?
I come to my senses and realize the situation. I look behind me looking for a way out.
- Don't waste my energy for nothing and move on, he orders me annoyed.
I know trying to run away won't help but I'm not going to give in to this disrespectful man. Like what beauty is not enough. I start running to the bathroom on my right and lock the door. I catch my breath as he approaches the door.
- Open that door! he shouts.
I don't answer and stare at the door which ends up falling in front of me in the second that follows. He just broke down the door? I take a few steps back when he approaches. Seeing his eyes filled with hate, I begin to regret my act.
- I leave you 3 seconds to direct you towards the door.
- You can't take me by force, I whispered.
- And who's going to stop me? He asks me furiously.
Understanding that I have no other choice, I leave the toilet with tears in my eyes. I still prefer to keep my pride and get into this car by myself than by force. I walk slowly, taking my bag on the way and head for their car followed by the three men behind.
Going out into the yard, everyone's eyes are on us. I walk with my head up, avoiding showing a sign of weakness. The shocked, hate-filled looks make me smile a little until I meet Aidan's. Faced with his sad gaze, I shrug my shoulders and smile, sadly too. I get into the car followed by my soul mate. His betas sit in front without saying a word.
- I have to take my things, I tell them softly.
I watch as the Alpha nods to the driver. He turns around without saying anything.
- You don't want the address? I asked.
- We know it thanks to your smell, the Alpha answers me without bothering to look at me.
My smell? I lower my head a little and try to feel my armpits. I washed myself and I smell good, thankfully. Embarrassed, I stick myself even more against the door. I hope I feel good for them too.
When the car stops I feel the incomprehensible gaze of the Alpha on me. Before getting out of the car I hear the driver whisper:
- She lives in a foster home?
I slam the door and go inside. I climb the stairs two at a time and rush back to my room. I put my few clothes in a bag and take my 2 books and some things before going out. Before going down the stairs I hear Nora talking.
- Are you sure? You should double check to be sure! Having a soul mate like her is shameful and...
No longer supporting his voice I go downstairs and interrupt his discourse.
- Yeah, I'm his soul mate. Me!
Seeing his surprised look, I smiled hypocritically. I go out followed by the Alpha. Once the car starts, I watch the landscape pass before my eyes. The more time passes, the more I realize something. I squeeze my necklace in my hand and lay my head against the glass. My life has just taken a completely different turn and me with it, nothing will be like before.
