Chapter 33
The people who make us happy are never the ones we think.
The dress lying on the bed was breathtakingly beautiful.
Navy blue fitted with a black lace corset on a white background it was a real work of art.
I put it on in front of the standing mirror and then adjusted the bustier.
The belt embedded in the dress served as a border between the lace and the elegant blue fabric.
I had never seen such a beautiful dress.
My free hair was walking over my bare shoulders while I put on black platform shoes. Perched on it I easily gained about ten centimeters which I could afford since I was only sixty-three feet tall.
I jumped when Vladimir knocked on my already open bedroom door.
He comes in wearing a midnight blue suit that matches my dress.
He arrived silently behind me, we looked in the mirror until we looked down.
He took a necklace from his pocket and tied it around my bare neck.
At the end of the fine chain of sparkling silver hung a pendant adorned with a dark sapphire surrounded, like a flower, by diamonds in the shape of tiny drops of water.
I touched the jewel with my manicured fingertips with all the delicacy of which I was capable, as if I was afraid of breaking it.
- He is magnificent, I whispered.
He gave me a look that made me lose my mind just before stepping ahead of me to get off.
I followed him in silence as he was already waiting for me at the foot of the stairs looking into the dining room.
Her father came out of the large room followed closely by Vin who smiled when she saw me.
- Elisabeth, you are beautiful, he said, making me turn around.
I laughed at his remark to hide my embarrassment. It was a first for me to be called "magnificent". Generally I was "adorable", cute at most, the only model in the family was my sister with her light green eyes and her plunging black bob.
She was a woman, a real one, not a child like me.
- Leave it to your brother Vinchenzo, grumbled his father.
I laughed thinking it was a joke but when I saw Vin's broken head and Vladimir's winning smile I thought there must be some truth behind the joke.
- Let's not hang around, said my date to me as he opened the door.
He walked past the guards as if he hadn't seen them before heading towards a black luxury car.
As I passed the men posted like statues, I whispered to them:
- Good evening
Before joining Vladimir leaving behind me the surprised men.
They too had to be part of the decor. It's such a shame to end up like Vladimir and his family, so little grateful to those who work for them.
He opened the door for me, letting me go into the car first. When he was seated next to me, he slammed the door with a thud.
The driver immediately began to roll, leaving the large property, my golden prison.
A few minutes later I caught his eye in the rearview mirror and recognized him immediately.
He was my savior, the one who had stopped Ivan from raping me in the back seat.
- Oh, but I know you, I said, you're uh wait, I have your first name on the tip of my tongue. Carl! I exclaimed.
The middle-aged man looked surprised that I remembered him, but very quickly he pulled himself together and replied:
- That's right, miss.
At his nickname, I felt Vladimir put his hand on mine, which was flat on the empty seat that separated me from my kidnapper.
- I never had the opportunity to thank you for intervening
- With pleasure, he smiled at me before concentrating on his way.
I stared at the dark scrolling landscape until Carl pulled up in front of a huge house, almost as big as the one where the Ivanovich family lives.
Our driver gets out immediately and opens the door for Vladimir, who gets out in turn.
I barely set foot out of the car when Vladimir is already glued to me, grabbing me by the waist.
In contact with his palm on my pelvis an inner heat wakes up.
- Wait I want to say goodbye to Carl
- We don't have time, he objects, growling.
With a quick step he takes me with him in front of the big door that two servants open for us.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath before opening them again.
When you have to go, you have to go.
