Chapter 20

The innocent are always the first victims.

When I was woken up by Olga, I realized that I should never have stayed up so late last night.

I was so tired that I wanted to skip breakfast just so I could sleep.

Unfortunately, it was without counting on the determination of Olga.

This woman lived to serve the master and the master wanted me to attend lunch.

I got up while insulting this man.

I had known some wickedness but never had anyone been so cruel. Waking me up at eight o'clock was simply immoral!

Reluctantly I slipped out of my blankets, still warm from the night, and moved my heavy body to the closet.

I choose an outfit that I immediately left to put on.

Olga had insisted but I had made up alone. I hated to be assisted I was not mancho!

Still asleep I dragged my carcass to the dining room.

A few people were already there and I was happy to see Vinchenso wave to me in the distance.

I came to sit next to him under the mocking gaze of his cousins.

- Hi, he starts, nice outfit.

He gave me a wink and I realized that something was wrong with said outfit.

My air of incomprehension must have spoken for itself because, without even having formulated it, he answered my question:

- It's not very formal, that's all, we're used to dresses here and you arrive with your holey jeans. Don't worry, they suit you very well.

I smile at him anyway.

Suddenly Vladimir entered the room.

- Privet, he launched before going around and sitting down in the same place as yesterday.

It was only once served that his eyes fell on me, he detailed me carefully. He raised an eyebrow probably because he didn't know if it was a joke or not.

Obviously the "joke" did not please him very much.

- Is this a joke? He asks me coldly.

- Of ?

I shoved a piece of croissant in my mouth under the shocked gaze of Mother Ivanovich.

Since when did we eat croissants with a fork? Of course, only the rich did that. Those for whom money is a problem only because they don't know how to spend it.

Of course, being rich was a goal. But being rich to the point of not knowing what to do with your banknotes was disgusting. And to think that outside there are people like Donatello and Inga who cannot heat their house in winter with that here we warmed up by burning banknotes bearing the effigy of Putin.

- Don't mess with my head Elisabeth, he warns me.

- Your head ? No I'm afraid it's not a joke but don't worry baby surgery works wonders these days.

His brother laughed next to me, choking on his orange juice while Vladimir flushed red with annoyance.

He got up furiously and came to stand right in front of me.

When we were both standing he was already taller than me but then there, given the difference in position, I had to raise my head to make me almost a tortis package.

- YOU FORGET WHO I AM!

- No, believe me, that's exactly what I hope: to forget who you are.

My provocation annoyed him even more and like an angry child he stamped his foot on my chair which fell to the ground.

Me on it.

I stood up rubbing imaginary debris on my posterior.

Then, I raised my laser eyes to him.

The madman had just made an attempt on my life.

- YOU'RE ILL ? YOU MUST PUT LEAD IN YOUR BRAIN IMBECILE! GO SEE A PSY FOR YOUR PROBLEMS BERNARD!

Suddenly, without my expecting it, he came out from under his tuxedo jacket, a nine millimeter and pointed at me with it.
