Chapter 7 The Collins Family

"Remember, you only have seven days..."

After uttering those words, Chris departed with his wife and daughter.

Jefferson Manor was teeming with people, yet no one could impede his departure. They could only watch as he walked away.

As soon as he left, a collective sigh of relief swept through the crowd.

They cast glances at the incapacitated bodyguards and shivered in fear.

What an intimidating man!

What had he been through all these years?

Wearing a somber expression, Felix turned to his father and asked, "Father, what should we do?"

Henry snorted dismissively, "Seven days? He must be out of his mind. Does he think he can do whatever he wants with his fists?"

"He's just a vagrant. How dare he threaten us? Madman."

"He must have some sort of mental issue. We must proceed with caution. Even if he kills someone, the police won't be able to touch him."

The Jefferson family regained their composure upon hearing Henry's words.

In their eyes, Chris was nothing more than a lunatic.

They shouldn't even dignify a lunatic's words with consideration.

"So, is this coffin really made of pure gold?" Lorie approached the coffin, tapped on it, and asked curiously.

"It's impossible. It must be nothing more than iron. He probably just coated it with gold."

"He's truly mad. Perhaps he thinks he can turn it into gold by gilding it."

"Ha!"

They laughed and jeered.

"Felix, when will the boss arrive? Take this coffin away. We can't let the boss see it."

Henry adjusted himself and inquired of Felix.

"He should have been here by now. Let me make a call and inquire about it..."

Felix then made a phone call.

After hanging up, he reported to his father with a crestfallen expression, "Father, the boss was here earlier, but he left."

"He called us stupid and annoying pigs!"

"What? He was here and then he left!"

"He must have been frightened by that madman!"

"Undoubtedly. We have a madman in our family. How disgraceful!"

These words only fueled Henry's anger. He bellowed, "Chris Shelby! He must die!"

Chris had scared off the boss and thwarted the Jefferson family's plan.

At the thought of their shattered dreams, they all yearned to eliminate Chris.

...

Esther remained in a state of shock as they exited the hotel.

Hope was in a daze, unaware of what had transpired.

"Chris, we..." Esther looked at Chris, her voice trembling with unspoken words.

Chris smiled and reassured her, "Esther, I know you have many questions. You've endured so much, but I'm here now. Those who have harmed you will pay the price. The Jefferson family will be the first!"

Esther was deeply moved by his words.

She had endured immense suffering over the past five years.

She had thought that was her lot in life, but to her surprise, Chris exacted revenge for her immediately upon his return!

In a state of confusion, Esther asked, "Chris, do you really think the Jeffersons will apologize to me?"

Chris smiled confidently, "Don't worry. If they dare to refuse, I'll erase them from existence."

There was a domineering air about Chris as he uttered those words.

Esther didn't take them too seriously. After all, the Jefferson family was influential. How could Chris single-handedly destroy them?

However, the mere prospect of it made her elated.

Ring!

At that moment, Esther's phone rang.

After ending the call, she wore an odd expression.

Chris inquired, "What's going on?"

Esther hesitated for a moment and replied, "It's my mom. She said they're hosting a family banquet today at Collins Manor. She wants me to say some kind words to Grandpa Michael."

Chris grinned, "Perfect. I'll accompany you. I haven't seen your parents since I returned."

"Okay!"

Esther nodded, and they procured some gifts before heading to Collins Manor.

...

The Collins family wasn't as influential on the East Coast.

Since it was a family banquet, the members of the Collins family had gathered at the manor early.

Esther's mother, Susan Jefferson, and her father, John Jefferson, stood in a corner.

The Collins clan regarded them with disdain.

John and Susan felt embarrassed under their scornful gazes.

Before the events of five years ago, Susan had commanded immense respect within the family as the wife of the eldest son of the Jeffersons.

But now...

They had become objects of ridicule to the Collins family, all because of Chris.

"Look, here comes Esther and her daughter!"

"Hey, who's that man with her? Is that Chris Shelby? When did he return?"

As Chris entered the hall, the entire Collins family was taken aback.

"Dad, Mom!"

Chris paid no mind to their judgmental stares and greeted John and Susan.

Susan's anger flared up the moment she laid eyes on Chris.

If it weren't for Chris, they wouldn't have suffered so much.

"Why did you come back? You've caused us so much suffering!" Susan roared at Chris.

Chris apologized, "I'm sorry, Mom. It's all my fault. But now I'm back, and I'll make amends for my mistakes."

Susan scrutinized Chris from head to toe, noticing his plain attire, and sneered, "How will you make amends?"

"Mom, that's enough. Chris is back, and we finally have a complete family," Esther hastily interjected, defending Chris.

In her eyes, Chris was her husband, and nothing would change that!

Susan looked at Esther, her eyes reddening.

She angrily remarked, "My dear daughter, Chris has caused you so much suffering, yet you still speak up for him. How foolish you are!"

Unable to contain her emotions, Susan was overwhelmed by memories of the past five years of hardship.

"Mom, now that I'm back, I'll ensure you live a good life."

"I'll never leave Esther alone. I'll make her the happiest woman in the world."

"As for the Jefferson family, I paid them a visit and demanded an apology to Esther within seven days. Otherwise, I'll simply wipe the Jefferson family off the face of this city."

Chris spoke with sincerity and determination.
