Chapter 7 Qualified for the job
And no! She wasn't into middle aged men! Hmph!
"Oh, it's nothing, no need to be bothered about what I said", Alice smiled sheepishly.
"I sure will", the man said and as soon as he did, he pulled Alice by her hand and began dragging her to the company. Alice was in shock and allowed the man to drag her. She woke up from her trance when she began feeling cold. Just as she took notice of her surrounding, she met a pair of frosty eyes and she froze in her steps. The man who had been dragging her realized that she had suddenly refused to walk further. He quietly shook his head and he came face to face with Justin.
Not caring about the audience surrounding them, he glared at Justin and ordered;
"I want to see you in my office right now! And...you all can go. The post of the secretary have been filled", the last part of his sentence was addressed to the arrogant but sexily dressed ladies who stumped their feet as soon as they heard him. If looks could kill, Alice as well as the middle-aged man would have been long gone by now. The glares thrown their way was enough to bore a hole in someone's skull.
Not waiting for Justin to reply, the man pulled Alice towards an elevator that appeared to be rarely used judging from its neatness and other faint characters that could rarely be seen. The moment they passed by Alice, her body moved voluntarily and it was not as stiff as it once was.
She heaved a sigh of relief but now, she had to face another problem. Where was this man taking her to? Judging from the way he ordered the boss, she concluded he was taking her to him but why?.
Her question remained unanswered as she waited for the never ending ride in the elevator. Just how many floors was this building? Alice sighed.
She snapped out of her thoughts when the elevator dinged. Her feet stood rooted to the ground as the stared at the room before her in awe. Rather than looking like an office in a building, it looked like a bedroom and the only thing missing was a large bed. Alice was aware that this room alone couldn't be compared to the house she lived in. It was far bigger and better looking.
"Come on, let's go". Hearing the sudden voice of the middle-aged man, Alice snapped out of her thoughts and shakily walked out of the elevator. Only then was she able to inspect the room properly. This room was definitely more than her imagination.
Looking at this office- like room, Alice thought back to her house which was no less than a bird's nest. How do hell does one man have a hundred billion dollars and we still have people on the street that are broke? There was no one to answer Alice's question and she kept her thoughts to herself.
As Alice kept inspecting, she heard a buzz and her eyes immediately snapped unto the figure of the middle-aged man. She got confused when she saw him press a red button on the wall.
She got confused when she saw him press a red button on the wall. Her heart pounded furiously in her chest. Alice's expression was worth making a meme. She was so lost in imagining different scenarios that she failed to notice that the middle-aged man was now staring at her.
Meanwhile, the man held in his laughter as he stared at Alice's hilarious expression. A very interesting girl- he mumbled. Not to make Alice awkward, he cleared his throat and motioned her to follow him in.
Alice snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the sound. She realized she had been spacing out lately and she needed not to be told the cause of this.
"Let's go in", the man said smiling sheepishly. Alice rubbed her head in awkwardness and followed after him.
Soon, they stepped into an office and Alice subconciously shivered in fright. The air in this office was very cold and to make things worse for Alice, her mate stepped into the office. Her nerves which were growing less increased with an octave. Her heart pounded loudly in her chest and Alice was sure they could hear it since they were werewolves. She covered her face in embarrassment and stood frozen to where she stood.
She was unaware of the glares thrown at her. If she had known, she'd be very heartbroken.
Alice moved her feet aimlessly in one position. She had no idea she had become an object of entertainment for two people. The middle-aged man who brought her to this god damned office was now sitting comfortably on the large leather sofa in the room staring at her in amusement.
Meanwhile, the CEO stared at Alice like she was a retard. The ladies who seeked attention were the ones he hated the most and he concluded that Alice was one of them.
No one said a word until the middle-aged man opened his mouth to talk;
"Justin, make her your secretary", he said boldly. Immediately he said this, two pairs of eyes snapped to stare at him. One was filled with shock while the other one was filled with anger.
Alice was confused and shocked. She opened and closed her mouth but words refused to come out. 'Why is he making this request casually?'.
"I can't and I won't. She isn't qualified for the position", Justin responded with anger in his voice. His eyebrows were drawn into a frown.
"...and how are you sure she isn't qualified for this position?", the middle-aged man asked but still looked unconcerned about Justin's anger.
"FATHER!", Justin yelled and slapped the table before him in anger. Alice jumped the fright and pitied the innocent table. There was a dent on the table which she was very well aware it was very strong. Her shock couldn't be masked after registering what Justin said. She knew that the middle-aged man was rich but she didn't think he was very rich and was also the father of her mate.
"Let me have your CV", Justin's father said and Alice immediately rummaged through her old looking handbag and found the brown envelope on which her CV was kept.
She took it out of her bag and then handed the envelope to him with shaking hands.
Alice watched as he read her CV.
Minutes later, he spoke up;
"After reading this Justin, I can boldly tell you that she's qualified for this position".
As soon as he said this, a young yet sexy woman barged into the office.
