Chapter 4 Found Her

The audience all relaxed during my light-hearted speech.

I go a bit hilarious, even those who previously believed I was dead are now having a good laugh at the jokes I slip through my serious lines. The hall is silent, you could hear a pin drop, everyone is keen on catching every word of my speech. The Alphas want to witness for themselves that I'm in perfect condition and capable of continuing to lead them.

And Of course, the alluring female wolves have secured their spots at the front with permission from their Alpha father.

However, none of them can stand in the shadow of my sexy mate, they are so wasting their time here. It's been the same every year since I was eighteen However, they cannot compare to my stunning mate - it's a futile effort on their part every year since I turned eighteen. It baffles me why these lower rankings can't detect that I am happily mated, Drina always leaves her scent full on me. I know she's marking her territory, I really don't mind. I am all hers. But why do these status-driven females persist?

As the door at the rear of the ballroom swings open, a striking woman with cascading jet-black locks slips in. Her overwhelming presence demands attention, she cannot be overlooked by anyone present. Designed by none other than the Moon Goddess herself, she is the embodiment of refined beauty and yet she is mine alone to cherish.

Our gazes meet as she gracefully settles onto one of the tall stools at the back of hall, rendering me speechless. My words get stuck in my throat, my wolf makes a happy leap. My heart flutters wildly as I exhale short breaths, trying desperately to regain composure from her mesmerizing effect on me.

Due to the sudden silence that has fallen in the middle of my speech, many turned to see what had caught my attention. The unmated Alphas leered hungrily at her, their primal instincts kicking into overdrive.

For a few seconds we locked eyes and as she watched me with that seductive stare of hers, an intense wave of pleasure shot through me. My cock stirs uncontrollably in response. This is unbelievable, there she was right before me when just moments ago, all I could do is hope for this very sight. And now I can barely utter a word like a schoolboy.

Unfortunately, our connection was short-lived.

Everyone seemed fixated on discovering whether there may have been some sort of relationship between me and this captivating lady who had just entered the room. My concentration is over, I clear my throat and rush through the remainder of my speech. As I walk off the stage, my eyes remain focused on her. My heart is beating madly, she looks so different today, shines more than before.

As I take my seat next to Alpha Remus, we break eye contact.

Yet, her intense gaze continues to burn into my back. A part of me yearns to get up and walk right up to her immediately but as the Alpha King, I have responsibilities that cannot be ignored. Impatiently waiting for the master of ceremonies to conclude the meeting, enabling me to walk to my mate. Two weeks is really too long, the wait for her wore my wolf down.

As soon as the last word of closure emanates from the man on stage, I rise up with the intention to walk to the back, to Drina. But several Alphas have waited for this moment too, wishing for personal discussions with me. And these are interactions that I cannot avoid.

Dutifully I enter into the conversations, at intervals my eyes set on my mate.

She smiles at me, nods as if to encourage me to finish the rounds, letting me know she's patiently waiting for me. Slowly I move in her direction, but the many Alphas don't give me a chance to close our distance as fast as I like. And when I look up again, I see a few of them also gathering around her like flies at a honey pot. Not that it makes me insecure, I'm convinced of our unbreakable love. But I so desperately want to claim her in public, let everyone knows that she belongs to me, is mine.

I send her a desperate look, and she responds with a sly grin that reveals how well she understands my impatience.

With a sensual laugh, she holds up her glass of wine to me, it's like she's teasing me, purposely setting up this trial to make me burn with desire. I make frantic efforts to focus on the talks, which I partially succeed. On most questions, I advise the men to keep in touch with me via email or to organize a video conference with other packs experiencing the same problems.

I initiate my heightened hearing, in time to hear her confess to an Alpha that she already has a fated mate whom she adores. The astonished exclamations after her confession do not escape me. When someone asks for his name, I swivel my head toward her as our gazes lock once more. She doesn't answer, smiles mysteriously while keeping eye contact with me.

And then I know for sure she takes pleasure in my suffering.

Letting this go unpunished is not part of my plan tonight. My plans for tonight have now changed to a new dimension in our relationship.

I squint my eyes as I glance once more at the cheerful expression of my mate.

‘Jace, get the Jet ready. Provide tape, rope, cable ties and the best white wine, ice cold', I instruct my Beta in the mind link.

‘Seriously, dude?! Killing someone tonight?’ he jokes. 'Will the Luna Queen finally reveal herself tonight, Enrick? Before you kill her, let me meet her, please. I'm not far from you,’ he pleads.

I owe this man, my feelings of guilt kick in again.

And as my Beta, Jace is actually my Luna’s right-hand man, his main task is to make sure she's safe and happy in the pack. He actually has the right to have her officially introduced to him as the Luna Queen of the pack. I feel like I'm seriously failing him.

‘We're still talking about it, my friend’, I release my conscience. ‘But for now, set everything up for me as we had planned and keep it confidential. I'm already being watched closely, I need to protect her and don't need any rumors,’ I point to him.
