Chapter III: Second Betrayal. Running Away - 2

Two months after I arrived in Los Angeles, I had my first ultrasound and gynecological exam. That's when I received the shocking news: I was pregnant with twins.

To sum up, I had my first sexual experience with a stranger after being drugged. I begged the man who was trying to help me to make me his, and I got pregnant by him—with twins, no less. I couldn't have done worse.

I hope that things will get better from now on because I don't know if I'm ready for any more surprises.

That's how my new life began: as a single mother and designer whose only sexual experience was with a stranger she still remembers in her dreams—Norman.

Norman.

Three months have passed since I spent the night as Yvaine. I gave her time at first to get used to the idea and break up with her ex-boyfriend. However, when I was about to approach her, problems arose at my company in Europe, so I traveled with my assistant for a while. I regret not locating or keeping an eye on her during that time.

When I returned, I tried to find her, but she had disappeared. There were thousands of rumors about her, many of which were spread by her corrupt family, especially her cousin and aunt.

I made a mental note to get revenge on them later, but first, I had to find Yvaine. I assigned my best collaborators and all the resources at my disposal to work on this task, but they found no trace of her. At least she still owned the family home, which she had inherited from her father. Each day, I became more desperate.

One afternoon, while I was at the club having a drink with my assistant and waiting for the president of BBC News to start our round of golf, I accidentally overheard the conversation at the next table. Several wealthy heirs were continuing the party there.

"So, what do you know about the slut you've been dating since college? She turned out to be a slut who slept with anyone but you," said one of the obnoxious brats. I looked at Jason to tell him I was leaving the playing area to wait for the president when he gave me a meaningful look toward the group.

I turned and saw Harry Walter surrounded by two beautiful models.

"Don't talk to me about her! After I caught her sleeping with another guy in a hotel three months ago, I found out she was pregnant. Who knows if it's that poor bastard's or someone else's? According to her cousin, who's now my girlfriend, that slut slept with a bunch of men during college," said Harry Walter.

When I heard this, I felt the pressure I was exerting on the glass of whiskey in my hand break it, cutting my hand. I didn't even feel the pain. While Jason, my secretary, ran to help me, I looked at the group. I wanted to kill Harry Walter. Thousands of images ran through my mind.

Could Yvaine be pregnant? Was I going to be a father, and had she not told me? How could she tell me after you disappeared for almost three months? And how dare this brat slander her like that?" I knew I had been the first, of course, but after learning this, I would be the only one. With these thoughts racing through my mind, I walked toward the group while Jason tried to bandage my hand with a handkerchief.

"President!" Jason exclaimed nervously. I ignored him and asked the group,

"Are you talking about Yvaine Stewart?" I asked, barely containing my anger. My cold and unapproachable expression said it all. They looked at me and immediately recognized me. As one of the most powerful men in the United States, I must have had something to do with it.

"President Miller," Harry said.

“Were you talking about Yvaine Stewart?” I repeated the question, even though I don't like to repeat myself.

“Do you know her? She was my ex-girlfriend, but I don't recommend her. She's a slut. The last time I saw her, she was leaving a hotel room after being with another man. Three weeks later, when I went to her house to ask her about it, I found her holding a pregnancy test. The poor bastard who slept with her that night. Thank God I never slept with her. I sensed something strange about her. Luckily, her cousin confirmed that she was popular with the girls in college and slept with anyone. Despite having my hand injured and bandaged, I couldn't control myself. I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and slammed him against the wall.

"The next time I hear you talking badly about Yvaine Stewart, you're a dead man—and that goes for all of you. If I hear you defaming Miss Stewart, you will know my full wrath." Without further ado, I walked away toward the golf course. I needed to hit something while I gave Brando orders.

"I'm giving you two days to find her. Use every means at our disposal, and make sure all the bad publicity surrounding her disappears. Take anyone who defames her to court, starting with her aunt and cousin," I ordered.

"But Norman, what do you have to do with all this?" Jason asked as he picked up his cell phone to make the calls to carry out my orders.

"That woman is carrying my child. You can be sure it's my child, so I want her by my side by next week at the latest. She's my wife, and she belongs by my side," I said, picking up my golf club and hitting the first ball in front of me with rage.

I thought it would be easy to find her, but I never heard from her again. I used every means at my disposal to find her. After a year, I'm still looking for her.

Before my son grows up without a father and I grow old without the woman who belongs to me, I have to take desperate measures. I hope the plan doesn't fail, and she comes back to me as soon as possible.
