0005

Rooney walked into the building, accompanied by seven dangerous and hefty guards. He got a call earlier on from an unknown number, telling him the address of some thugs who engage in drugs.

He perceived they work for Lucas but too bad, today would be their last day on earth. One of the guards kicked the door open and pointed the gun into the house.

Rooney furrowed his brows, thinking if the person gave the right address. Two things, it's either the person gave the wrong address or he's trying to set them up.

He corked his gun, taking the lead into the silent house. Who knows they might be inside, drilling some wench.

He walked up the stairs, trying to make the sole of his shoe soundless. But a different sound stopped him in his tracks, a scream from someone in trouble.

Pablo stared at him and he nodded. "Go on, we need to know whoever is in there." He ordered as Pablo walked further with two guards.

He stayed back with the others as they hid behind the stairs and underneath it.

Some minutes later, gunshots spiraled into the air, followed by the screams of a lady. Finally, silence.

Rooney wasn't disturbed because he knew Pablo so Well. If there's someone who handles an operation just like him, then it's Pablo.

Footsteps descended the stairs as they came out from their spots. "What happened?" He asked, his eyes not leaving the petite Lady standing on wobbly legs.

"Whoever sent that message to you knew what was happening in there. Three guys took turns to have her, but I killed them in a huff, and couldn't allow her to see the blood for so long.

"Call Becca, tell her to come over to the house. There's an emergency." He said and walked out of the house.

"Where did you go to?" Constanza asked the minute Camilla walked into the room. Camilla tried to behave normally and gave a sweet smile.

"I've been around Mama, I just_"

"Don't you dare lie to me!" Constanza snapped and she bit her lips hard. "Mama you're still weak, come on let's get you home." She said but Constanza scoffed.

"I know when you're lying, I know it," Constanza said but Camilla made no reaction to that.

She helped Constanza change into another dress before packing her things as they left the room together, her mom in her wheelchair.

When she'd gone to check the amount in the card, she'd almost lost her balance because it was more than the amount she bargained for.

She waved a cab down and assisted her mother into the car. Though her mother could use her legs now, the doctor advised it wouldn't be great if she used it for long distances.

Throughout the ride home, her mind kept on going back to Carina. She couldn't believe Carina ditched them for something else, probably for a life of comfort.

She sighed, rubbing her stomach as she wondered how she'd carry a baby there. She wondered who the father of the child was and what he looked like.

She closed her eyes and allowed her mind to drift to her plans on how to keep the pregnancy a secret.

Becca rushed out of her car with her bag of equipment. She carried everything within her reach as soon as she got the call. "Where's the patient?" She asked one of the guards as he rushed up the stairs with her.

She met all the guys moving to and fro, worry marring their faces. She was tempted to ask who the lady was and her relationship with the guys but of course, first things first. She needs to do her job.

"She was raped and stabbed," Pablo said lowly as she nodded. "I'll need you all to leave, it's_"

"It won't be a problem, we'll all leave," Rooney said, walking to the door as a soft voice stopped him in his tracks.

"Am_am scared. Please don't leave me alone." Her voice came out as a whisper as her eyes locked with Rooney's own.

Becca continued with the job of cleaning the wounds with cotton and methylated spirit as the girl winced from time to time.

"Are you going to stitch her wounds?" Rooney asked after a few minutes, his eyes never leaving the job she was doing.

"That won't be necessary," Becca replied as she covered the injuries with bandages. "All done." She said and lifted herself from the bed.

"Thanks, Becca," Rooney said, placing a chaste kiss on her forehead. "Anytime." She replied as she began packing her things.

Her eyes went back to the girl on the bed and something in her guts told her she wasn't to be trusted. Whoever this Lady was, she was going to find out who she was.

She walked out of the room, not wanting to discuss the surrogate issue in front of the lady.

"So how are you feeling?" Rooney asked, leaning on the wall and peering down at her. "Am_am okay, just a little stressed out." She replied as he nodded.

"What's your name?" He asked, walking over to the door as she smiled. "Olive. Olive, that's my name." She replied as he nodded.

"Rooney." With that, he walked out of the room.

"Finally we're home," Constanza said, smiling as Camilla drew the curtains apart. "Yes, Mama and it's good to have you back," Camilla replied as she thought of how to tell her mother about Carina.

She's been trying Carina's line for some time now and it seems she has changed her number.

"Why is Carina not home? She didn't pay me a visit." Constanza said, looking around as Camilla gulped hard.

"Mama there's something I need to tell you," Camilla said without locking gazes with her mother.

"I don't think Carina is coming back, I mean I called her and she hung up on me." She said, hoping her mother would believe her and not think she was making stories up.

"I was waiting for you to let me know. When your father left with all the money, when your father left us, she was devastated, and almost went nuts I prayed daily that she wouldn't leave but I guess she did. We'll move on with or without her." Camilla knows her mother was hurting on the inside but just trying to be strong on the outside.

After making sure her mother was comfortable in her room, she retired to hers but something caught her attention.

The drawers in the bedroom were opened and her favorite diary was missing. She looked around and saw the window, it was spoilt.

"Carina." She muttered before shaking her head. Too bad she won't be able to open it. It's the only expensive thing among other things. The only thing she has from her father. A code-locked diary.

"You don't trust her fully, do you?" Becca asked as soon as Rooney walked through the door.

"Of course I don't I've placed a thorough search on her life, we should be getting updates in eight hours." He replied and she nodded.

"You'll have to come over to the hospital tomorrow to donate your sperm." She said as he raised his brows.

"Is the surrogate ready? Does she understand what she's signing up for?" He asked and she nodded.

"Of course. But__" knowing where she was heading, he cut her mid-sentence.

"I don't want to meet her, not now, not ever!" He slammed in her face as she rolled her eyes and walked out.
