Chapter 1

Anabelle's POV

The day started off how a normal Saturday in the summer would go. We were at Meg's house since the four of them wanted to take pictures to post. We were in the backyard by the pool.

"Meg can you move over a bit? You're covering Liv."

Meg moved a bit to her left.

"Okay perfect. Do something."

"If I do anything I'll fall into the pool."

Someone accidentally let all four of Megan's dogs out of the house. The larger one bumped into me causing me to fall. I landed right on my camera. Everything besides the SD card was ruined. Megan was knocked into the pool.

"Shit!"

I sat on the ground just staring at my newly broken camera.

"Oh my god!"

"Dani you're a bad girl!" Megan said to the dog that caused me to fall.

My friends helped me pick up the pieces. We put them in a plastic bag. After we cleaned it up I walked home with my head down.

Don't I have enough money saved to buy a new one?

When I got home I started looking around my room. I found a shoebox that I kept all of the money I was saving. I grabbed all of it, shoved it into my mini backpack, then started walking to the store that was closest to my house. I could've had someone pick me up but I didn't want to bother anyone. After I entered the store I made my way to the aisle with cameras. I started looking around. I know what brand my camera is so I know what to look for. It took a while to find it. I looked everywhere yet I was having a hard time finding it.

Why can't I find it?

I noticed why I couldn't find it. Somebody was standing in the way. Their back was facing me. They're tall so I stood on my toes and tapped them on the shoulder.

"Excuse me? I'm sorry to bother you but can you please move? I think what I need is behind you."

They turned around and I immediately knew who they were.

Holy shit!

Curran Stark!

Keep calm!

Act cool!

"I am? I'm sorry. I'm just hiding."

"It's okay."

He moved out of the way and I grabbed what I needed.

"Thank you Curran."

"Shit! You know who I am?!"

"Yeah. I'm a fan."

"Please don't scream or kill me!"

"I'm not going to do that. I'm trying to stay calm. Why are hiding?"

"I was in my friend Kip's car but people started looking and taking pictures. I ran in here. I have no idea where he is. I have no idea where I am."

"Do you want some help?"

"Sure. As long as you don't go running around saying you found me."

"I'm not gonna do that."

"I have to find something to hide my face though."

"I have some sunglasses you can have."

I took the sunglasses out of my bag.

"Really? Thank you! You're an actual lifesaver!"

I handed them to him and he put them on.

"You can keep them. I have more at home."

We started walking around and started talking.

"Please don't call me "Curran" right now. Call me "Jace" that's my real name."

"Is Curran a fake name?"

"It's my middle name. I need to have somewhat of a normal life. You seem cool. Are you doing anything tonight?"

"No. I don't think so."

"You're not going to the show?"

"No. I have no one to go with."

"You don't?"

"No."

"You could be my guest if you want."

"Really? That'd be awesome!"

"What's your address and phone number?"

I gave him those.

"What the hell Jace? I told you stay in the car!"

"Bro people were looking."

"Who's this? A secret girlfriend?"

"No. You know I'm scared to date. I don't want to ruin their life."

He's scared to date?

I've never heard about that before.

"Hi I'm Anabelle."

"I'm Kip."

I shook his hand.

"Here let me pay for that. It's the least I can do."

"No it's alright."

"I'm serious let me pay for it."

"No it's really okay."

"None of us are leaving until you let me pay for that."

"Okay thank you."

"I'll come pick you up at around 6:30!"

"Sounds good! See you later!"

"Wait actually. Let me drive you home."

Holy shit.

He just offered me a ride home.

"S-sure!"

We all got in the car and I was brought home.

"We gotta go. Frank needs him for soundcheck."

"Bye! See you tonight! BRING YOUR CAMERA! I WANNA SEE HOW GOOD YOU ARE!"

When my parents got home I told them what happened. I got ready hours later. My heart was racing. When he texted me he was at my house I flew to the front door.

"BYE MOM! BYE DAD! I'M LEAVING!"

Is this reality?

I must be dreaming.

I pinched myself.

Nope!

Not dreaming!

Holy shit this is real!

I just met the man who saved my life and he invited me to his show!

Okay keep calm Ana!

Keep calm!

Just breathe!

He's a normal human being just like you.

You just gotta BREATHE!
