"I gave you this before we got married. I don't want it. You keep it." He said coldly, trying his best to keep his voice cold and distant.

Her eyes looked down at the necklace and he saw a tear slipping out of her eyes. "Don't cry." He huffed. "Nothing you do can make me change my mind." He turned his head towards the other side of the street, not wanting to look at her face.

He heard a scoff coming out from her. Curious as to why he made that sound, he turned to her and gave her a calculating look. "What?"

A dry laugh came out of her lips. "You think I'm crying to get you to be mine again?" she shook her head and he saw tears continuing to fall down her face.

Yet her voice remained strong. "I'm crying because I don't want any reminders of you anymore. These babies are enough for me Dante. I gave this necklace back to you for a reason."

"They're not mine. They shouldn't remind you of me." He hissed out, shoving his hands inside his pant pockets. "Stop making it seem like they are."

"You know what? Go to hell." She shouted. She threw the necklace on the ground and turned her body. "I never ever want to see you again."

"That's something that we could agree on. I don't know why I was even interested in you in the first place. You were a b*tch back then and you're one now. That's probably why your dad didn't hesitate to ship you off." He blurted out, instantly regretting what he said.

He saw her whole body stiffening. The soft sobs that came out of her caused his heart to break into a million of pieces. No matter what she did. No matter how many times she wronged him, he still loves her.

There was no one else that he can love as much as he loved her.

"I hate you." She whispered.

She then turned around and gave him her most hated look. "Once you realize your mistake, it would be too late Dante. Have a good life." She shouted before running away from him.

"I want to hate you, but I can't." he whispered. "You were the only woman I have ever loved and the only woman that I will love. You're my first and my last." He whispered.

He knelt down and pick up the necklace. "I love you Ashley." He whispered, pocketing the necklace into his pants. He started walking back to office.

Each step he took caused his heart to break even further. He felt his eyes becoming glossy and held back his tears as best as he could.

When he was in the building again, he walked towards the elevator and clicked the button for Thomas's office.

Although the ride only lasted ten seconds, to him it felt more like ten years. When it opened, he walked into Thomas's office and sat down on the couch.

"You okay man?" He heard Thomas whispering.

Looking up, he saw Thomas giving him a worried look. In his hands held the folder that was to be sent to the city office tomorrow morning. The folder that would soon cut off all ties with him and Ashley. He glared at it and closed his eyes.

"No, I can't ever be okay now, Thomas. My life is nothing without Ashley." He said dejectedly. He put his arm over his head and sighed deeply. "I don't know how I'm supposed to continue life without her. I can't be the same without her."

"Why did you divorce her then? Why cause not only one heart to break but two?" Thomas's voice held disappointment and a little bit of scorn.

Dante knew that Thomas didn't fully support the divorce. He had tried on countless occasion to convince Dante to reconsider but it never worked. Thomas firmly believed that Dante was wrong but that was only because he didn't fully know the reason why.

Dante was about to reply to him when his phone rang. He removed his arm and took his phone out of his pocket. Looking down and his face furrowed in confusion when he saw that it was an unknown number.

"Who is it?" Thomas asked. Dante felt him standing behind him, staring down at the phone also. "Dante who's that?"

Dante rolled his eyes at him. "How am I suppose to know? It says unknown."

"Well pick it up and see who it is." Thomas retorted.

Dante slid his finger across his phone and put it on speaker. "Hello? Who's this?"

Nothing.

There was nothing on the other end.

"Hello? Who's this?" Dante repeated with more force.

There was a quick laugh before the call ended. Dante looked at the phone and looked at Thomas.

A bing gained his attention and he looked down again. His face paled when he saw what it was and he felt his heart beating faster in his chest.

"Dante what is it?"

Dante shook his head and gulped. "You want to know the reason why I divorced Ashley? Why I think those babies aren't mine?" He turned to look at Thomas.

Thomas furrowed his eyebrow. "Why?"

Dante showed Thomas his phone and watched as Thomas's face contorted to one of confusion. "Is that?"

"Ashley." Dante spat the name as if it was poison.

"I can't believe this."

It was a picture of Ashley, in today's clothing, standing outside of a café. One hand held the same folder that she had today while the other was wrapped around another man's neck. She was standing on her tippy-toes and her lips were touching those of the man.

A man that was not Dante.

The man wore a red coat and sunglasses, shielding his face and frame from recognition.

"Wait there's a message." Thomas muttered.

Dante took back his phone and looked down. His beating stopped when he saw what the message said.

I won.
