Arrested
Chapter 6
Gradel
The lady was a born liar, I could sense it, but that was one of the many things I felt. The thrills of desire that worked through me when my thumb connected with her chin made me tense.
I shouldn't feel this way for someone I hated. For a wrench who disgusted me, so I shrugged off the distasteful feelings and watched her shift from one foot to the other in uneasiness.
Her brown eyes were like a blank screen, displaying her uncertainty and fear. I could smell both of them.
"I-I don't know about any bracelet," She denied, her voice low and unconvincing.
My temper was beginning to simmer, but I had to be calm if I wanted to retract my bracelet from her. "Look, woman, I didn't accuse you just for the fun of it and I don't have the time to visit people who don't matter for no reason. That bracelet is worth more than your existence so I need to have it back."
Maybe I should have told her that the bracelet was the gift my late mother gave me before she died, but she didn't deserve to know the truth.
Finally, she raised her head and stared at me without batting an eyelash. "Well, I know that it is worth more than my entire generation but you can't get it from me because I don't have it." She replied flatly then gulped, snapping her mouth shut as she realized that her tone was inappropriate.
"Come forward, Larry," I ordered, and he did. "Tell us what you told Hegar when I announced that my bracelet was missing."
He glanced at Iris and then massaged his forehead with beads of sweat pouring down his face. "Right now?"
I said nothing as my narrowed slits got him spilling the words he was nervous to say.
"After watching you and the others leave, I wanted to leave as well then I saw the lady pick up something and stare at it intensely. Out of curiosity, I followed her and discovered that she was holding a shiny black bracelet. I felt like confronting her, but it wouldn't turn out well, seeing that she could accuse me of stalking her..." He faltered and caught his breath while avoiding Iris's eyes.
"Go on," I ordered impatiently.
"It wasn't until you announced that your bracelet was missing that I realized that she could be with the bracelet. I'm so sorry, Alpha Prince," He fell to his knees while I snorted.
I folded my hands behind me and moved closer to her. I didn't fail to notice that she reeked of anxiety and that she was one step away from attempting an escape.
"So what do you say, young lady? Do you still insist that you don't know about the bracelet?"
Her eyes refused to meet mine as she sunk her teeth into her lower lip. "I don't have the bracelet," She admitted.
My ears tingled and a knot tightened in the pit of my stomach. "What do you mean?" I growled.
She took a step backward and shivered. "I admit that I took it, but I didn't know that it belonged to you so I brought it back home and now, I can't find it anymore..." Her voice cracked.
The world stopped moving for a second and the urge to grab her neck, lift her from the ground then fling her across the street enveloped me.
How dare she take my bracelet?
"You!" I flinched at her while she gasped, her brown eyes silently pleading.
The fury that stirred up within me was mollified for a moment, then I remembered that my bracelet was still missing and she didn't have any idea of where it could be.
"Take her to the pack cell!" I thundered.
She clasped her palms and then rubbed them together, her eyes wide with shock. "Please, Alpha Prince, don't do this. I didn't mean for your bracelet to be stolen, I planned to return it today."
I snorted, contemplating what disgusted me more. Whether it was her blatant lie or her reputation as a thief.
My claws threatened to stretch out as my wolf sighed in agitation. I was in dire need of a run to clear my head that would prevent me from clawing her eyes out.
"I'm going to shut my eyes now and open them in two seconds, if I still see her here then your corpses will be hanging on every single tree in Grey Rock pack."
They got the memo and dragged her away while she continued to plead for mercy. My twin was more lenient with them, and that's why we had more thieves than honorable people in the pack.
I couldn't blame him for being biased, after all, he wanted to be Alpha King and to him, he wouldn't succeed if everyone disliked him.
I wondered how he was going to rule if he allowed everyone to break the laws of the pack.
The pleas of the young lady were getting to me, igniting a strange feeling I couldn't understand. I needed to shut her up before she messed with my mind.
"Stop," I commanded and traipsed towards them.
Her body was smeared with the sand she was dragged on and then the seams of her tattered dress were ripped off, exposing her perfect perky breasts.
An unfamiliar reaction worked through me again as my dick hardened at the sight of her body. My fists tightened into a ball as I tried to restrain myself from taking her right there.
Where did these stupid feelings emanate from?
I crouched on the ground so that our eyes could be at the same level while I meted out her punishment. "I met you as a thief and I hoped that you weren't what you were accused of, but I was wrong because you just proved that stealing is the only thing you know how to do well,"
She shook her head as tears streamed down her cheeks, but I ignored them—I ignored the empathy that it evoked within me.
"Please," She muttered.
"You will rot in there and if I'm in a good mood, the remnants of food from the servant's kitchen will be given to you. If my bracelet isn't found in seven days, I will have your head on a platter." I stood up slowly and turned away from her with an order, "Take her away!"
My body needed two things: a long run and rough sex, and I was caught in the crossfire because even though the lady disgusted me, I wanted to have a taste of her badly.
