[3] Grandmother!
Realizing the gazes of the two on him, Gavin schools his expression and gave them a furious glare that makes them scared silly.
Lolita remained silent and feigned oblivion to their small interactions. However, she urged them to leave quickly with her eyes.
Gavin realized that they had overstayed their welcome and needed to leave immediately.
They had to leave so Lolly and her grandmother could live. The enemy is still lurking out there after all.
The duo dressed their Alpha and helped him down the bed.
"We'll take our leave now miss...we are very grateful" They still bowed to Lolita as they made their way out the door.
As Gavin reached the door, he turned towards Lolita and says once again "thank you" before stuffing an inconspicuous-looking wolf pendant into her hands and leaving without looking back.
Lolita was distracted by the series of actions because as Gavin approached her, she felt a disturbance in her whole body but couldn't quite place her hands on what it was.
She was so distracted by her feelings that, she didn't even realize Gavin was giving her anything until she felt the cold pendant in her hands.
When Lolita came to, Gavin and his group were already gone.
As she was distracted at that moment, she missed Gavin giving a command to one of the wolves in his group "keep them safe" and this little distraction would become the basis for a long time of misunderstandings and hatred.
Lolita felt so light and peaceful, the moment her hands came into contact with the pendant.
If she had fought with anyone at the moment, she would have realized that her physical strength had increased tremendously.
The wolf pendant had the power to unlock the werewolf abilities locked away in her body.
For as long as Lolita keeps the pendant, she gets to unlock more abilities, and then if she ever visits Dark-Dawn Avenue, she gets to go anywhere, including the base of the Dark-Dawn pack.
Upon returning to her room, Lolita's heightened sense of smell picked up the faint smell of rosewood as well as a very strong smell of blood.
Lolita needs not to be told about where the smell is coming from.
She parked all the bloodstained sheets and everything that needed to be burnt before moving towards the river, a few meters away from her house.
This was not without opening her windows to allow for fresh air to clear the smell of blood in the room.
With a fresh change of clothes in her bag, she arrives at the river and first burns the blood-stained bed sheets before jumping into the river for a cold swim.
Lolita reckoned that she needed a cold swim at the moment.
She sat by the riverside and munched on some biscuits with soda, while the earlier events played before her eyes.
Suddenly, she was startled to realize that, Gavin and his group had even taken his blood-stained shirt with them.
"What the heck is Dark-Dawn pack anyway?"
It seemed to her like they were clearing their tracks.
She could only hope that she doesn't see them ever again because it is obvious they are trouble.
Finally feeling tiredness wash over her, Lolita stood to her feet and made her way back home in unhurried steps.
She wanted her room to have the fresh smell of the night breeze.
Her overly-sensitive nose couldn't take it if the smell of blood still lingers in the room.
Due to her heightened sense of smell, Lolita always kept her surroundings clean. She couldn't stand any stench, unpleasant smell, or odour.
The most sensitive nose of a werewolf had been unlocked by the joining of the wolf pendant with her own pendant, not that she was aware though.
Lolita could only hope to get home to a room filled with fresh air, so she gets a very good night's sleep before traveling to the city with her grandmother in the morning.
There are many things for them to do and many places to see, she couldn't help feeling giddy.
Throughout the day, Lolita kept psyching her grandmother up about possibly moving to the city of Greenville with her, as she had secured admission into the best university in the whole of Greenville.
She wouldn't want to be so far away from her grandmother, even if it's only a few hours' drive away from Smallville.
Her grandmother, however, has never left Smallville for the past sixteen years, even when the opportunity presented itself to do so. Not even once!
She had never mentioned it, but Lolita reckoned that her grandmother had been eagerly waiting for someone's arrival. Maybe it's her mother she's been waiting for all along.
The ten-minute journey ended up being twenty, and it could have been more had she not seen a huge cloud of smoke above her house.
Lolita was scared of what was before her and merely halted her steps for a moment, before she shouted at the top of her voice, "grandmother!" before dashing towards the burning house.
The neighbor, who had already made contact with the fire department, rushed to stop Lolita who was rushing towards the house engulfed in flames.
From nowhere, her friend Xavier, rushed to her side and pinned her down, to prevent her from harming herself.
While Lolita was being pressed to the ground, she was out of her mind.
She couldn't explain why, but she suddenly saw her grandmother's final moments as she let out an ear-piercing scream of agony, before giving up the ghost.
That scene made her lose herself because she knew it was all over.
Her grandmother was dead, burnt to ashes in her own room.
Lolita remained motionless as the shock overwhelmed her, and as her unfocused gaze roamed the surrounding, she suddenly spotted a man in black, with a black mask covering his face.
"You've got to be kidding me... No... No... No... This is not happening... No... This is just not happening... It can't be you!" Lolita kept her gaze fixed on whatever was hiding in the woods. Maybe it was a who.
