Chapter 1

Third person POV

"We have a patient who is badly injured! We need to rush him into the hospital fast!" A female paramedic yells hurrying into the hospital and accidentally bumping into Isabella. She knocks Isabella to the floor and there is no time to apologize because she is in a haste. Isabella scoffs and brushes it off because she knows how Paramedics are meant to be very fast and alert at their jobs. The female Paramedic rushes past Isabella but with a stretcher this time and Isabella is able to make way in order to avoid falling to the floor for the second time. Isabella releases a heavy sigh and slowly walks towards the front door, she pauses to release a loud yawn at how stressful her day has been, that is the life of a doctor working at a not so developed hospital. There are few staffs which makes the hospital understaffed and underdeveloped.

Isabella runs a hand through her hair and is about to step out of the hospital when she hears a familiar masculine voice yell her name from behind. Isabella turns around to gaze at the culprit who is no one other than the owner of the hospital himself, Mr Daniel. He spends most of his time at the hospital eating and bossing the other workers around instead of trying harder to make the hospital grow. Rumors have it that Mr Daniel is the last child of a very wealthy and influential woman, Mrs Valentina Santoro. She used to own the hospital and back then, it was one of the best hospitals until Mr Daniel took over it.

"Miss Isabella De la Cruz? Where do you think you are headed to?" The man yells with a brow raised at Isabella's direction. She scrunches her brows into further confusion and points towards the door.

"I am leaving Sir." She says. "Obviously." Isabella mumbles the last part to herself. Mr Daniel rolls his eyes at her and scoffs.

"At this very time of trouble?" His brows remain raised at her and his hands are now placed on his waist as he tries hard to exhibit authority.

"What do you mean by at this very time of trouble Sir? My shift ends by 8pm and this is almost 9pm." Isabella points out with a frown on her face. Isabella knows how Mr Daniel always makes her in specific work past the actual time her shift ends. He makes her work extra hours and does not bother to add it to her monthly paycheck.

"What do you mean by that? An important patient is about to be admitted into the hospital and you are the only doctor I can trust to handle him." Mr Daniel whines throwing his hands and legs in the air. Isabella only shakes her head in disagreement and gazes at him with disdain.

"I am so sorry Sir but I have to leave now, I have a lot to do at home." Isabella says. She turns around ignoring how Mr Daniel keeps yelling her name. Isabella is about to step out of the hospital until the Female Paramedic of earlier rushes back into the hospital with a young man lying on the stretcher and bleeding a lot. Isabella drops her handbag in shock and dashes towards the female paramedic as they slowly move him to the most comfortable room in the hospital.

"What is wrong with him?" Isabella ask gazing at the unconscious man.

"He got shot." The female paramedic replies.

Isabella steps into the room after the young man is placed on the hospital bed and with the help of some other nurses, Isabella is able to stop the bleeding and cover the wound. She releases a heavy sigh as the young man lays quietly with his body stitched up by Isabella.

She gazes at the young man's face and she knows she has seen him somewhere. She can not just seem to pinpoint where but she knows she has crossed paths with him before.

Isabella gives up on trying to find out where she had seen him, she turns to one of the nurses and says "When he wakes up, try to give him a sedative and make sure he eats too and has enough rest. Have you called his family?" She asks.

"No, Mr Daniel asked me not to worry about that." The nurse replies. Isabella scrunches her brows in confusion and remembers when Mr Daniel had mentioned that an important patient would be admitted at the hospital soon. Isabella wonders if this young man that she just saved from bleeding could be the important person Mr Daniel was talking about.

"I overheard Mr Daniel telling one of the nurses that he is a family relative." The nurse whispers into Isabella's ears softly and her eyes roam around trying to make sure no one heard her say that.

"Oh. No wonder Mr Daniel was so hell-bent on making her treat him. Anyways, I will see you tomorrow Gabriella. Goodnight." Isabella waves at the nurse, she grabs her bag from the receptionist desk and makes her way out of the hospital for real this time.

Isabella sighs at how dark the sky has gotten and how gloomy it is. She runs a hand through her hair and makes her way towards the bustop in order to board a taxi back home.

Suddenly she hears footsteps from behind, loud footsteps trailing her.

"Who is there?" Isabella yells turning around but she does not find anyone behind her so she decides to brush it off.

She settles down at the bustop waiting for a taxi to pass by, she hears the same trailing footsteps from before and this time her hands dig into her bag and she clutches the gun in her bag tight. Isabella is about to rise to her feet and point her gun towards the direction where the footsteps were coming from but her phone suddenly beeps loud startling her. She glares at the screen and reads the message from an unknown number out loud.

"Clock is ticking Isabella, I need my money!"
