The ball was magnificent. I didn’t know that my brother had put much effort into it. I felt jealous that I couldn’t be a part of it. I was forced to attend to the needs of our guests which made me feel worthless.
My right cheek was still stinging in pain as I walked into the ballroom with a tray of champagne and three empty glasses. My stomach was turning and I could feel my heat getting intense.
I looked around trying to figure out where the Lycan King was. I was ordered by Finn to serve the three of them, Him, Keon, his beta, and the Lycan King. I didn’t want to get to the Lycan king because of my heat, it would be embarrassing, but there was nothing I could do about it. I had no choice but to obey the Alpha. I was nothing but a servant to him.
As I walked through the bodies in the ballroom with the loud jazz music playing in the background, I could see people staring at me with disgust. I understood what they were sensing.
I felt embarrassed and my hands trembled as I held the tray. The champagne bottle swung from side to side, kissing the three glasses that were beside it as I walked.
After what seemed like forever, I finally found my brother and the Lycan king. They were seated together on thrones which were on the other end of the room.
Finn was dressed in a tux suit, his green eyes were lighter now as he smiled at the Lycan king, and his short chestnut brown hair was neatly combed. He looked quite exceptional tonight.
Keon, on the other hand, who was seated on the right side of my brother, was also dressed in a tux. His golden blonde wavy hair was combed neatly. The intensity of my heat increased when I saw him and I felt my knees grow wobbly and I almost cracked to the ground.
It was getting worse and I would have to leave the ballroom immediately when I was done serving the Lycan king. I was tempted to ask Keon to accompany me and help me get rid of these urges.
As I stood before the three of them, my eyes caught the Lycan King and for a split second, I took in his features. He was gorgeous.
He had jet-black hair which was tousled across his forehead. Courtesy of the chandelier that hung above us, his tan skin was glowing and his well-chiseled jawline stirred something in me. His icy blue eyes were hollow and made me feel like I was falling into an abyss as I gazed at them.
He was dressed in royal attire. It was purple with gold embroidered on the chest region of the attire. He looked amazing. It was hard to not stare at me, but I managed to bury my urges. With my heat tormenting me, I was already thinking of the multiple positions he could have me in bed. I clenched my jaws and erased such erotic thoughts from my mind.
At that same moment, his eyes caught mine and immediately, I looked down at the tray in my hands, not daring to make eye contact with the Lycan king.
“There she is,” Finn said with a sigh of relief.
“What took you so long?” He asked after a few seconds.
My hands were trembling as I held the tray and my thighs were getting heated. I couldn’t stay here much longer. My heat was getting stronger by the minute.
“My apologies, your Highness for keeping you waiting,” I said.
He nodded at that.
“You better be sorry.”
And with that, he grabbed two of the glasses, handing one to Keon.
“Now serve the Lycan king,” he ordered.
I nodded and went over to the Lycan king, bowing my head as I held up the tray for him to take out the glass. At first, I couldn't feel any movement and I feared that the stench from my heat must have pissed him off.
“You are in heat,” he acknowledged his voice deep with a low hum that resonated throughout my body.
“I’m so sorry—” I tried to apologize but my brother beat me to it.
“My apologies if my sister here made you feel uncomfortable. You see, she has no wolf and therefore can’t control her heat.”
The Lycan king was silent. I still didn’t dare look at him. My eyes were planted on the floor of the ballroom. But I could feel his eyes on me. It made me wonder if I was making him uncomfortable. Of course, I was. The stench from my heat filled the whole ballroom. Everybody was looking at me in disgust. Of course, the Lycan king would feel the same way too.
After what seemed like forever, he finally lifted the glass from the tray and I sighed under my breath.
I laid down the tray afterward and popped the bottle of champagne. Without making eye contact with the Lycan king, I poured out the champagne filling his glass before heading to my brother next. I filled his glass without saying a word.
As I headed to Keon, he made me stop. I paused and looked up at Finn.
“Where is this champagne from?” He demanded.
“Your special cellar,” I replied.
He gazed at the drink in his flute, his face scrunched up in irritation. And out of the blues, he threw the champagne from it’s flute at my face. The cold liquid sent shivers all over my body, and the crowd behind us gasped in horror.
“You stupid murderer! You can’t get anything done, can you?” Finn roared, his voice thundering through the hall.
The music stopped. The ballroom was quiet.
“My king, please don’t be upset. This isn’t the champagne you were supposed to drink,” Finn said with a calmer tone as he turned to the Lycan King. “Let my foolish sister go and get the other wine I told her to.”
He emptied the remaining wine from the champagne battle on my head and ordered me to go and get the other bottle.
With my drenched hair and my head hung with shame, I moved out of the ballroom with laughter and murmurs surrounding me. As I walked out, I could feel the eyes of the Lycan king following me. It made me nervous. Perhaps my stench had made him furious.
My clothes were soaked in champagne and stuck to my skin which made me uncomfortable. But that didn’t matter. I had to make Finn and our guest happy.
A few minutes later, I came back into the ballroom with another champagne bottle, silently praying that this would be the bottle that Finn wished for. But I could barely move.
My heat had completely taken over me and I was emitting pheromones. My stench had worsened all around me, everybody grabbed their noses as I walked past them.
I was limping now, my thighs aching in pain. My head was swirling and it felt like I was running around the room in circles. I was so exhausted and felt like I had the wind knocked out of me.
My stomach churned and my vision became blurry. Being fed up by the constant giggles and murmurs that surrounded me. I gave up and let go of the champagne bottle.
The bottle crashed on the floor and I dropped beside it with the pieces of glass piercing my skin. I didn’t feel it, I could hardly feel anything. I was slowly losing a grip on reality.
From a distance, I could hear my brother’s angry voice, calling out my name. I was in big trouble.
