Lesley wiped off beads of sweat as she smiled in satisfaction at the change in her new apartment. she had arrived Newyork four hours ago. Had spent an hour locating the agent in charge of her apartment, and three hours to clean up. It had really paid off as her new found apartment looked pretty and livable. She took off her Airpods and placed it on the couch alongside her phone.
A huge smile played on her lips. Everything she wanted. A new life, a new home, new identity and even the country New- York! how luckier can she get!
She'd need to shop for groceries for her new home. she showered and put on a high waist pant and minutes later closed her apartment door behind her.
"Hi." Lesley whipped her head sideways to see a pretty lady of her age. She just got a tan. A cute blondie. Lesley blinked and cleared her lungs.
"Hey." She replied turning back to lock her door.
"I'm Stacy, I live here, second floor precisely, just moved in right?." she smiled warmly. Lesley faced her and held her handbag nervously. She's always sucked at having conversations..
"umm.... I'm Lesley. You guessed right I just moved in." She wasn't ready to make friends. Not now, not ever, but stacy was too friendly to be ignored.
"Wow!... good to know Lesley. welcome to your new home. Do you mind coming over to my apartment later in the day for a couple of drinks?. I've got tasty wines you'd like." She flashed another smile. Lesley itched her head nervously.
"Th.... thanks, I appreciate your offer but am cool." She repsonds. Stacy pouted, a bit disappointed but the smile returned back to her face.
"Alright Lesley but if you do change your mind my apartment is 135." she waved her bye and walked away. Lesley let out a breath as she entered the lift for the ground floor which served as the parking lot.
"Nah.... I can't break rule number four; never make friends, they are back stabbers." She mutters as she got into her car and drove out heading to the shopping mall.
"Newyork.... here I come" she squeals and stepped on the gas.
****************************
Lesley held a cup of coffee in her hand as she typed away on her laptop. it's been a week since she moved in and she was beginning to feel bored, and was gradually relapsing to her old self, the old self she never wants.
She had scoured different job sites to secure a job, turned out Newyork was full of shits and people with shitty attitudes. while some had not employed her, some had wanted appreciation in kind.
"Fuck! can't I ever secure a decent job" she bemoaned as she took a sip of her already cold coffee. she scrolled down different job sites and one caught her attention. she clicked on it.
NANNY NEEDED, YOU NAME YOUR PAY.
She raised her brows, quite catchy. She scrolled down to read all the information on the job. A cute classy looking kid popped on her screen. As beautiful as she looked, there was an air of defiance in the way she pouted, striking a pose. Hazel.... cute name, She was the kid she would be baby-sitting
"Holy shit!." she gaped at the number of applicants who had applied for the job, three fuckin hundred!..... and a hundred being disqualified by the kid!. She shook her head, the kid seems to be an unusual toughie.
Applicants were required to bring whatever would entice the little kid. Once the kid accepts it, she's given the job. She applied, saved the job site and hopped out of bed. She'd give it a try.
Afterall what she had been doing lately was sleep, eat, surf the net, go for futile interviews, get back home and repeat the same routine. So she would try this one out. there's never a harm in trying. She shrugged and made her way to the kitchen to fix herself breakfast.
