Chapter 3: The Kiss' Fate
Samira is currently walking on the hallway where large statues surrounded her. Because of what she found out yesterday she no longer looked around her and only focused her eyes on the road. Even in heels, she hurried to walk. It was also a few minutes before she could get past there. She continued walking towards the CBA building where their first subject would take place. She is on the third floor now. As she walked she turned to the floor she was going to. There was a man standing there and she thought it was looking at her direction. She averted her eyes there and just focused on what she was going through. She didn't want to think that man was the man she had followed yesterday.
She was already in the lobby of the CBA building, there was an escalator and lift there. Since she was not very used to taking the lift, she just went to the escalator. A few minutes also passed when she reached the third floor. As she walked, she averted her eyes and looked for the man standing there earlier. But she did not see even a shadow of him. Instead, a group of ladies approached in her direction. Three ladies were in gray uniforms and two of them were in red uniforms. There's this feeling that she doesn't want to argue with them because of the power of red uniform.
When the group of ladies approached her, the lady in the red uniform immediately looked at her from head to toe. After that, the lady looked at the paper she was holding which Samira was sure was a photograph. It's not that she feels insulted by them but it seems like that.
"You're a freshman!" said the lady with mixed astonishment. "Who are you? What's your name?" the lady ask in series. Since she was not snubbed, she would say what the lady wanted to know.
"My name is Samira and you're right, I'm a freshman," she said politely. She knew they were her seniors so she just had to be respectful.
"Are you out of your mind?" said the woman in the red uniform emphatically. The lady's eyebrows meet and anger is obvious in her eyes. Not to be outdone, she was shocked by what the lady said. She had only just seen this lady, but it seemed like the lady knew something she had done. And to talk to her is actually casual, even if they don't know each other very well.
"What do you mean?" she said wonderingly. She had no idea what the lady said about her.
"Stay away from my boyfriend!" the lady said emphatically. At the same time the lady place the photograph in front of Samira. Her eyes widened a bit because she was the woman in the picture with the mysterious man she followed yesterday. That photo was when the man kissed her on the forehead.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," she said. She really should have apologized because she followed the lady's boyfriend, but with the kiss that the man gave her, it wasn't her fault anymore.
"This is my first and last warning, or else, see you in hell." Before she could pass them, the lady drew a terrifying smile on her lips. She turned her back, and her nervousness lessened when she saw that the group of ladies were no longer there. She just sighed afterwards. She had to be careful with every move she made because there seemed to be eyes watching around her.
She was in front of room 306, before entering, she first peeked at the students who were there. Only half of them were sitting there and their professor was not there yet. She just decided to go in and walk to the last row. Only when she was able to sit in the chair did she notice that her classmate was almost a boy. She turned to her seatmate and unexpectedly a man was also next to her. Not that she wanted to be next to him, she just really wanted to sit at the back to see what her classmates were doing in front.
"Hi!" the man next to her greeted her.
"Hello!" she replied.
"You are probably the most beautiful lady I have seen on this campus," the man added. There was a part of her mind that was happy but also shocked because she was talking to a man with fluttering mouth.
"You look like you're joking." She tried to smile at the person next to him.
"I'm serious, as soon as you enter here my dark world seems to light up." The one next to her continued. She just smiled at what her seatmate said. She seems to have found a possible friend.
"Is that so? It's a good thing I came in here," she replied.
"I'm Axel," the man said. Then it offered her a handshake. She immediately reached for him and shook hands. "You, what is your name?" the man ask.
"I'm Samira," she replied shortly. She also withdrew her hand afterwards.
As time went on, the other students arrived until the empty seats were filled. It was also the time that Samira realized that the number of female students was almost equal to that of males. Later, their professor also arrived. He is a man and looks young. On the surface, it seems that many female students will have a sin.
"Good morning class!" their professor said.
"Good morning, Sir!" the students greeted at the same time.
"I am your instructor in Intermediate Accounting 1, and my name is Mhenard Luiz Alonzo. I'm 24 years old and graduated at Genius University with a bachelor's degree in Accountancy and a CPA board passer," their professor said introducing himself. Their professor age gap was only six years apart from them. "Before we formally start our classes, we shall first introduce ourselves to each and every one, so that we'll have the opportunity to know each other well," their teacher continued. "Tell us your motto in life, your expectations and of course the reason for choosing this school for you to study. Let's start at the front."
After that, the lady in front immediately stood up.
"Good morning, Sir! Good morning classmates! My name is Alexa Ruiz, 18 years old. I always believe in the saying that "If you want to achieve something, never give up! Because if you give up, then you're telling others that you want to lose everything you have." About my expectations in this subject, I know it's hard but I am willing to learn it little by little by answering lots of quizzes, doing group activities and of course a challenging exam. I chose Genius University because hearing the name itself there's no need for explanation. Thank you!" The lady sat well afterwards. It was followed by the one next to her. Everything was just quiet, surprisingly the seriousness of the crowd. The ambience here is new to Samira because it is far away compared to when she was still in senior high school, which is full of screams and applause when they introduce themselves in front.
Nearly half of the students had already introduced themselves when a male student in a red uniform arrived. Their professor just prompted him to enter. It's just that easy. There was no mixed nervousness for the student and no explanation as to why it was late. Let's just say that students in red uniforms are considered VIP's in Genius University? Samira was surprised because she wasn't wearing black. She really has a lot more to learn about things here at Genius University. It was too late when she noticed that the man in red uniform were sitting next to her because that was the only empty seat there. She would have liked to look back at the man and get to know him but she was worry that this man will think that she was full of herself to get close to him easily. So in the end, she just looked straight ahead and listened to those who introduced themselves.
Almost all the students here are smart because the way they introduced was already amazing. Axel will introduce himself, Samira is just looking at him.
"Good morning everyone! I'm Axel de la Torre, 18 years old. My motto in life is that, "If I want something, I end up having it." My expectations are good quality teaching, advance information regarding the subject and a challenging problems. I'm not the one who chose this school but my dad, who's one of the professors here in university and about the reasons is that he didn't tell me." After Axel, Samira stood up because she was the one to introduce herself.
"Good morning, Sir! Good morning, classmates!" she started. Everyone was staring at her except the student in red uniform. "I am Samira Hernandez, 18 years old. My motto in life is opposite from what Axel had said, because if I want something, it's impossible for me to have it. I expect to have a fun learning despite the subject itself, stressful requirements with a purpose and of course cooperation. I chose this school because it's the nearest university in our house. Thank you! " She sat down afterwards. She noticed the man in red uniform stands but she did not look at him directly.
"Good morning everyone. I am Alves Monforte, 18 years old. I don't have my motto in life nor believe in sayings. For my expectations, I simply don't want anyone to get close to me and talk to me. I just want a quiet ambience. I also didn't chose this school but my dad, I just agreed because it's familiar place." Not to be revealed in everyone's reaction but his introduction was not pleasant. He didn't seem to want to have a classmate.
Everyone is done introducing themselves. They have almost consumed time on their subject as well.
"What can I do for you Mr. Monforte?" the professor said. All attention was turned to the man in front of the door. Samira, on the other hand, suddenly bowed when she saw the face of the man there. This is the man she followed yesterday. And this is also why she was confronted by a group of ladies earlier. But it crossed her mind what their professor called him Mr. Monforte. Does that mean that that man was related to Alves? But that's not what's important now, it's just that she doesn't have to face him.
"Good morning Sir Alonzo, I am looking for a student whose name is Samira Hernandez." When Samira heard those words she immediately sat down on the floor to hide herself. Not that she overreacts but it looks like something bad will happen if she sees him. She felt that Axel touch her in her shoulder.
"Someone is looking for you Samira," Axel said. She just looked at him and motioned for silence. "Are you in arrears with him?" Axel continues. She just stared at what Axel said. She was too kind to have arrears with others. In fact, the man in front was that who was in arrears with her because he stole her a kiss.
"Nothing!" she said being disgusted but she said it in a whisper.
"Miss Hernandez?" She heard their professor say. Unseen, she had a hunch that their teacher was looking in the direction of her chair. "Well, I have a student named Samira Hernandez, she was here a while ago but it seems that she went somewhere." She feels a little less nervous. "Mr. Alves did you see her?" But the nervousness doubled when Alves looked in her direction. She told him to be quiet and not to say she was there. But there is no certainty whether this man will follow her.
"Yes I've seen her." Samira's mouth fell open because it looked like he was going to drop her. She even told her expectations earlier about the cooperation, but this man doesn't seem to have heard. "She went to the comfort room." A smile replaced her frowning lips. In her mind, this one was kind being.
"Really?" She heard the man said, as if not believing what Alves had said. In fact, the man saw Samira before he even asked their professor? "Or she's just hiding somewhere?"
"So you're telling that I'm a liar?" Alves said in a serious tone.
Samira just smiled because she knew she will liked her seatmate's behavior. The man who was looking for him didn't answer and said goodbye to their professor. Soon, their professor said goodbye to them because their time with him was over. Before leaving the classroom, Samira thanked Alves for the kindness he shown earlier, but he just looked at her and didn't say a word. She was also a little curious why Alves had the same last name as the man who was looking for her. She would have liked to ask but she was just like losing her appetite because Alves didn't notice her at all.
Samira is currently walking in the hallway when someone walked up to her. She immediately turned around and looked at who it was.
"Axel!" She was shocked but did not let go of his embrace because Axel might think that she was meticulous.
"Why did you leave me?" Axel asked. "We can go to the next subject together," he continues.
"Yes, but can we please walk in space. Maybe anyone might think of something when they sees us," Samira said pleasingly. Axel seemed to understand what she said so he removed his hand from her shoulder.
They went down to the first floor because that was their second subject. When they got down, they immediately went inside and waited for their next professor. Until their professor arrived and an hour later it was just an introduction. Since Axel is no longer separated from her, they are now together in the canteen. Axel was at the counter now and currently paying, when Alves suddenly appeared next to Samira. Alves looked at Samira so she looked at him too, and she was just shocked when Alves pulled her hand. She just stood up and drifted as Alves pulled her towards him because she couldn't get her hold on it in her hand. She felt embarrassed because almost all the students in the canteen were looking at them and they were obviously the ones in question. Axel was left in the canteen without even knowing where Samira went and it worries Samira because Axel might think that she doesn't like him to be around her.
Samira tried to withdraw her hand from Alves. Alves then stopped and stared at her intently.
"Why are you dragging me? Where are you taking me?" Samira said annoyed. Instead of answering, Alves tightened his grip on her hand. She felt pain as if a rope were wrapped around his hand.
Until they get to the part of the school where there are no people but only them. There, Alves let go of her hand and faced her. She stared at him angrily because of the dragging he did to her which caused the area around her wrist to turn red.
"Tell me! Why is my brother looking for you?" Alves said emphatically.
Samira suddenly thought of what he had said and realized that the two were brothers. No wonder, they are both handsome.
"I don't know, I don't even know your older brother," she reasoned.
"Are you in arrears with him? Have you done anything wrong?" Alves ask in series. Samira was a bit surprised because of the expression on Alves' face. It seemed to worry her.
"I'm not at fault for him! He's the one who's behind with me because he stole a kiss from me!" Samira wouldn't have said that thing anymore, but she was annoyed because Alves was shouting at her. Alves' facial expression suddenly changed. The earlier furrowed forehead was gone and the accusation against her seemed to subside.
"He kissed you?" Alves says seriously. The young man was aware of that law that had long existed in their race. That whoever the lady is kissed by any member of their race is destined to marry that lady. But that was if it was the first kiss with that lady. Only now did he hear that his older brother was kissing a lady. Because even his brother has a girlfriend his older brother still does not kiss his girlfriend. "Stay away from her girlfriend, that's the only way for you to save yourself." After saying that Alves walked away until Samira could no longer see him.
