3. The Window
I sat across my mother while nursing myself with shit tons of coffee to sober up. Miraculously, despite being so hammered last night, I still woke up on my bed and not on Jamal's bathtub.
From the back of my mind, I questioned what had happened last night. Did I really drank with Lauren Daniels? Did we really do it in the bathroom? The Lauren Daniels? I had to stop myself from looking all worried and shocked in front of my mother, I mean, I was already hungover which didn't help my case.
"I'm sorry I went home drunk last night." I whisper over to my mom.
I hear my mother sigh silently, then she waved it off. "It's alright honey, you're eighteen and you can take care of yourself. I trust you. Alright? But don't go wasting my trust, I don't want to see you doing drugs or getting pregnant, you hear me?"
I had to chuckle. "That escalated quickly, mom." When she gave me a serious look, I had to put my hands up and chuckle again. "Okay. Yes, I mean, no. I won't do any drugs or get myself pregnant. Well, considering your daughter's a lesbian, pregnancy shouldn't be lurking in your mind."
My mom chuckled with me now. "I know. But I'm your mother, I worry about you. And I love you. You're the only important thing in my life right now."
I smiled over to her. I know she worries, I know I was fucked up. But that's not the case anymore. "I promise I will never let anything happen to myself that will make you lose me."

After that cheesy breakfast, I did my usual routine. Stay in bed, glasses shoved on my head, a book on my hand. It was the weekend and I did what any high school kid would do: stay home. I don't want to generalize, but who am I to say, anyway.
Next up on my routine, the damn homework. I try not to procrastinate and pick favorites with doing my assignments... but I eventually chose to do my Lit essay over Math and Science.
At around four in the afternoon, Dylan calls me up. "Hey." I say simply. Reading the math problem in front of me for the nth time.
"Hey, Wendy..." He says and from his voice I'd say he just woke up. "You sound cheery for a hungover girl."
I had to chuckle, "My mom made me breakfast and drank tons of coffee to boost, so I feel fine. How was your Jamal-hunt?"
From the other line, I hear him chuckle. "S-U-C-C-E-S-S. It was a big success. We hooked up in his room last night right after you disappeared." I went silent as I readied myself for the question that followed. "Where did you disappear to, anyway? Find a girl to shag?"
I had to scoff. Should I tell him about Lauren? How I don't even remember anything after taking Lauren's hand? He is my best friend after all. "Erm, I don't really remember much. How did I get home? That is the real question." Was it really? I mean I spent the night with Lauren and lost my virginity.
"After Jamal and I did the deed, I found you asleep outside the bathroom. Your clothes were ruffled up and I assumed you had sex too, but I guess not. Anyway, Jamal's driver drove us home. My car's over there at his place, still, and I'm getting it later."
I let out a sigh. At least I didn't make too much of a scene over at Jamal's. My mind wandered off to Lauren... It's a shame I couldn't remember how her body looked or felt. Damn it, did we even do it? I seriously can't remember.
"Okay, uhm, tell me how it goes. I-uhh, I'm doing homework right now." There was a pause in the line and I shriveled up, not wanting to be asked again... hoping to god that Dylan bought that lie.
"Alright. I'll do as you said and eat a shit ton and drink a shit ton, too. Bye bye, Mia." I said goodbye back and sighed.
What was the proof that Lauren and I did it? Did we even kiss? Damn it, did I fell asleep on her? That would be so embarrassing. For me to fall asleep on Lauren Daniels.
I fixed my glasses and grabbed a hair band on the bedside. I used it to push up my bangs, it was starting to grow longer and I couldn't see shit. I shook my body a little and let out a breath. My eyes focused on the question as I repeatedly pushed Lauren off my mind.
Eleven o'clock P.M.
My mind finally calmed and let me to sleep. After a few minutes I had started to dream. Of course, Lauren Daniels was there to invade my dream. She was there, her long brunette hair and her perfect teeth were all over me. She was all over me.
It was a typical dream. I had no chance to get with her. Date her, even. And I had ultimately humiliated myself in front of her by being so drunk that I couldn't manage. In the dream, I sighed as if I had known this, and I pitied myself.
From a distance, the sound of a window opened, letting in the cold night air, letting my feet grew chilly from it. Then, in a snap, it closed loudly. For a second, I battled the fact of reality and the fact of the dream. My eyebrows met as I felt the sound and the wind to be too real.
I breathed in and sure enough I smelt the outside breeze. My body declined but my mind bolted me awake. As I slowly opened my eyes, a figure had appeared in front of me.
My hand went instantly to my bed side lamp, clicking it open, exposing the person who had just climb up my window. The person was a blur since I wasn't wearing my eyeglasses nor my contact lenses.
My hand then rummaged the table for my glasses. Somehow the person was silent and curious that it made me scared. When I finally got hold and wore my glasses, I still had to squint in disbelief with the person in front of me.
"I didn't know you wear glasses." Lauren Daniels stood, her hands in her jacket pockets, a small smirk on her face.
"H-how? Lauren... Lauren Daniels." I said in total disbelief. She was as ravishing and real like last night.
"Yeah, sorry. I had to climb your window." She pauses to close it, I was still in total starstruck. "I mean, I had this, I got it from you last night. But I didn't want to use it." She holds a key up for me to see. It was my copy of the house key.
"How did you get that?" I say after I clear my throat.
Lauren had a smirk again as she neared me. She gave me a shrug, "You were drunk and naked. I wanted proof that last night happened... I kinda have a feeling you don't remember any of it."
My hands covered my head in embarrassment, "Sorry, I was so drunk. Oh my god, okay, so, did we really do it? I don't remember a thing."
Lauren laughed, she found my decline amusing. "Yeah we did. You were so loud."
Again, I covered my face from Lauren Daniels. "Jesus fucking christ. I'm sorry, it was my first time, if you didn't figure out already."
Lauren made a face right then. She sat on my bed. "Oh no, I know. I mean, you had no idea what you were doing down there."
Now I was ready to die. I blushed red like a tomato and I grunted in total fucking embarrassment. "I'm sorry."
"You keep saying sorry a lot. That's for sure." She roamed around my room, looking over my stuff and books, etc.
"Sorry." I muttered and she chuckles again. I let out a breath to calm myself. I can't believe Lauren Daniels is in my goddamn room. "So, why are you here? How do you even know where I live? Let alone where my room is?"
Lauren cleared her throat and sat beside me again. "Your full address is on Facebook. And, it also says that you're a movie buff, correct?" I seriously have to update that shit. Nevertheless, I nodded. "There's a weekly quiz fare on tenth, it's partner week so I needed a plus one."
"Quiz fare? At this hour?" I say, a little skeptical.
"Oh yeah. It's an underground fare. Winner gets bragging rights and freebies." I had to scoff. What did Lauren Daniels need with bragging rights and freebies? "I've been back to back champion for a year. This week's theme is movies and TV shows. You up for it?"
My jaw nearly dropped. It was an hour 'til midnight, and to come barging into my room like this. "I don't know..." I say trailing off.
Lauren's face now had a slight disappointed expression, "Pretty please? I'll give you all the freebies after if we win. And I'll treat you for a late light snack."
She had her puppy dog eyes twinkling just so she could break me. I let out a breath and agreed. "Fine. I'll just get dressed."
Ten Minutes Later
I climbed down my window with Lauren. She must be bat shit crazy to be doing all this. Or maybe she's just like this? Maybe she just loves the thrill of competition and winning.
"Your room is so messy by the way." I had to give her a look. My room looked and was perfectly tidied up, thank you very much.
"Was it? It was pretty neat, if you ask me."
Lauren scoffed as we reached her car. "Yeah, right."
I marveled at her ride. It was a black F.J. cruiser. "Is this your car?" She gave me a normal 'Yeah' and I just stood there as she opened the door for me. The seats were so beautiful, let alone the damn sight of the inside.
"You're pretty cool for accepting my offer. I mean, we hardly know each other." I had to blush again. Reality check: this is Lauren Daniels.
