EPISODE ONE

CHAPTER THREE.

I wasn't that shocked and disappointed when Theo broke the news of his engagement to Tessa. Everyone in the pack knew Tessa as the lady of the Lycans's king.

I was just a pawn and a Luna for a public stunt. They've been together for the last ten years, right before I came into the picture.

Theo, who has no intention of courting a 'wolfless' Luna, like me, suddenly found out that I'm his true mate and couldn't reject me right away because he was aiming for the Lycan ship title of the pack then. To avoid the wrath of the moon goddess, we got married, and I became his wife, with Tessa courting and enjoying him every night while I craved his attention.

It took Theo four whole years to court me to show the level of animosity he had towards me.

"Is that the reason why you accused me of infidelity?"I finally asked after a few minutes had elapsed between us.

"I didn't accuse you of infidelity. The council of elders did." He corrected matter-of-factly, hatred etched in his voice.

I sniffled a bit, and he showed no remorse or pity for me.

How could someone be this crappy and very unyielding?

"Divorce me; I will demand no alimony. Let's end this as soon as possible. And I will leave." I groveled, my dignity in tatters, as I forced myself to lower my head in front of him.

I've never felt this indignant and bitter in my life; even when I begged him to sleep with me, I didn't feel a tingle of shame or remorse.

Now, I have to lower myself to him again so we can get divorced when I'm the one wronged.

Theo scoffed scornfully and dropped the documents he was staring at on his lap, then turned to me. He faced me squarely with tons of seriousness laced in his expression, which calmed me a bit. Maybe he will listen to me.

"I think you don't know the gravity of the allegations you're accused of, Levi. Do you think you can just walk away as if nothing happened when the most respected Luna of the country cheated on the Lycan king?" He asked sarcastically, wearing off the little bit of hope I had on my face swiftly.

"But I didn't do it. And you know I was accused of this; why won't you defend me? Did you hate me that much?" I ramble on and on with my hoarse voice.

I just don't understand the rationale behind these outrageous accusations.

And Theo's unhingeness is doing nothing to help the situation.

"Am I supposed to defend you when I finally find an opportunity to toss your weak ass out of my pack?" He rasped, his eyes throwing daggers at me in an unexplainable way.

"I felt like I was your worse mistake, Theo."

"Oh, thanks heavens that you are aware of that." He snickered, his tone portraying unseriousness.

"And I won't apologize for that. Because someone like you deserves every bit of the agonizing moment you had with me, when you felt helpless because you don't have a tangible reason to reject me as your mate."

It was as if the words I hurled at him left him with a burning fire. His eyes flashed with pain, his pupils constricting as his face paled and his jaw clenched.

Theo's eyes suddenly became fogged, indicating that he mind-linked the driver.

Suddenly, the car came to a halt as we were only a few meters away from the pack house.

"Get down and trek. I will never be seen driving in the same car with a filthy person like you." He ordered icily.

I bit my lips in embarrassment as words failed me; I didn't know what to reply to him with. I resort to getting out of the car to trek home.

I wish I begged Theo to take me along because of the stares from passersby, dissecting me with their spiteful eyes like I'm some sort of specimen. A filthy one.

Suddenly, I heard my name being called from the pool of eyes staring at me. I couldn't fathom the direction where the voice originated from, so I kept on walking till a hand nudged me from behind.

Surprisingly, it was Elsa. Her glistening eyes shined with delight, which soothed my frazzled nerves, making me feel seen and appreciated for the first time in what felt like years. A sense of calm washed over me like a balm to my criticized soul. I'm so relieved that I didn't know when tears started dropping from my eyes.

"Are you crying?" She gasped, raising her hand to my face.

Elsa is my personal maid and friend who chose to stay with me throughout the five years I spent here. She resonates with me and understands me so much because we're almost likely.

I've never felt loved until she came into my life; she's literally the sweetest.

"Elsa." My voice came out broken and wrecked, doubling the worry lines on her pretty face.

"Have you been stressed? I begged the King to let me go with you, but he refused." She huffed, scrunching her nose in discontent.

"Thank God you didn't come. You would have witnessed how disoriented my family is." I joked.

"Every family has its own flaw."

Elsa is the illegitimate child of the beta family in her pack. Her mother died when she was born, giving her stepmother the opportunity to stomp on her, which is the reason why a beta is serving as a lowly maid in the pack house.

"Where's Gwen?" I suddenly asked, looking around frantically, the moment my brain clicked on him.

He should be aware of my presence by now.

Gwen is my guard and my second loyalist. He's very reserved but responsible, which made us fond of ourselves.

A flicker of unease crossed Elsa's face. Her lips compressed into a thin line as she couldn't provide an answer.

"What's going on?" I questioned, holding her hand immediately.

I hope he isn't in trouble because of me.

"He ran away because of the trouble you got yourself into."Elsa said, darting her eyes away.

Her expression is a contrast to what she's saying, which got me more confused and serious.

"Elsa!" I called strictly, forcing her to gaze at me.

"I think he's in trouble because... He's accused of sleeping with you."
