Chapter 03
- Ace King -
Mom knew something must've been wrong, but before she could ask why I stormed off to my room.
If it was any other family, I wouldn't be half as mad as I was now. I wanted to punch that fucker in the face, but even if I did, the only thing I'd get was a lecture from my mother and I really don't want.
Jacob would still stay here either way. My mom would just apologize for my behaviour.
I needed to clear my mind, and I know just where to go.
Grabbing my leather jacking and quickly pulling it on, I climbed out of my window so I didn't have to see my mother of those people. Sneaking out of my window was the quickest way out, without getting seen.
I've done it plenty of times in the past when I wanted to go out after my parent's grounded me. Father knew about it and sealed my window shut, but I managed to undo the seal after a few weeks.
Taking one last jump, I landed on the ground with ease.
Luckily, Mia's house wasn't far from mine, so I could easily walk there. When I would sneak out of the house, I went to Mia's house because she was the only one I wanted to see if there was a problem or if I just needed to be with someone.
She found it weird at first, but I would always make sure I told her beforehand so I didn't scare her. Especially when it was dark out.
I did it so often that sneaking out and going to her house became a habit. One I'll never stop.
I already texted her that I was coming over, so I assumed that her balcony door is unlocked. When I saw her house in the distance, I ran and jumped over the fence before climbing the large tree that made it possible for me to get on her balcony.
Even though she knew I was coming, I still knocked softly on the french doors and waited for her to move the curtains that blocked the view of inside her room.
In a matter of seconds, Mia moved the curtains and smiled when she saw me. She opened the door to let me in, and once I was inside, she locked it.
"Did you have another fight with your parents?" Mia asked as I threw my jacket across the floor.
The reasons why I got grounded was because I got myself into some deep shit during school, or was when I talked back to my father. I always fought with him, but at times we didn't.
Those were rare times, however.
"Something like that," I answered, laying on her bed with my eyes closed.
"Are you going to tell me?" she questioned, and I shrugged. I didn't want to talk about it.
All I wanted was to be with Mia and not think about any problems that were happening in my life. I smiled as she laid down beside me and ran her hand through my hair.
Her touch would always make me relax. Even a single smile from her could calm me down in an instant. Mia would always have an affect on me, and I'm glad to know that I affect her as well. She may not realize it, but I do.
When I remained silent, Mia sighed and got up. Frowning at the loss of her touch, I stood up from the bed, and before she could open the door to leave, I grabbed her wrist to pull her back. I wrapped my arms around her, making sure that her arms were secured to her side so she couldn't push me away.
"Ace, let me go," she whined, trying to get out of my grip, but to no avail. I wasn't letting her go, and she knew it. Mia eventually gave up and stood there, waiting for me to say something.
"My mom brought guests, and they're staying until they find a place to stay," I explained.
"And let me guess," she sighed, but I knew she still had a smile on her face. "You don't like them."
"You know me so well," I chuckled. I reluctantly let go of Mia as she made her way back to her bed.
She grabbed the remote from her nightstand and said that we should watch a movie.
She was too cute.
I'd do anything to kiss her right now.
And I mean, anything. There were so many times I just wanted to grab her and kiss the fuck out of her, but I had to control myself.
And let me tell you, I had to use all my willpower to restrain myself from doing the things I wanted to do with her.
After a long decision on what to watch, Mia decided to go with The Book of Life, one of her favourite movies.
Whenever I watched it with her, I could hear her singing quietly to the shorts songs, and it makes me smile at how adorable she's being.
When the movie ended, I decided to stay for a few more hours so I didn't have to deal with my mother, and because I still wanted some more time with Mia.
We went downstairs, and I was greeted by her parents. They said that they were going out so Mia and I had the house all to ourselves. They trusted that I wouldn't do anything to hurt or make Mia uncomfortable, so they always let me stay over when it was only the two of us.
Mia cooked dinner shortly after her parents left. Well, tried to at least. I ended up doing all the cooking. Mia has always been a baker. She could make any kind of dessert you could think of. Her favourite dessert, however, would be making brownies.
Once we were both finished with dinner and washed out dishes, Mia's phone started to buzz. She dried her hands with a towel and picked up her phone to see who texted her.
"You're mom texted me and said that she's coming over."
Fuck.
"How does she even know I'm here?"
"Because you're always here," Mia laughed before going upstairs and saying she needed to go to the bathroom. Just as I heard the bathroom door close, the doorbell rung. I groaned, already knowing who was waiting.
I opened the door to see my mother with her arms crossed over her chest as her eyes narrowed at me. "Why did you sneak out, again. What's wrong with the Danials staying over"
"Everything," I answered, which only resulted in my mother telling me to try again.
"You know I'm not good with people."
My mother sighed. "At least try," she said.
"Because if you don't, you will no longer be able to go over to Mia's house."
My eyes widened at her statement, and I had no other choice but to agree that I'll try to be nice to the Danials.
"You'll tell Mia that you're leaving. I'll be waiting here," Mother ordered.
I groaned, and we waited until Mia came downstairs. When she did, she greeted my mother before I told her that I had to leave. I saw Mia from, but it was replaced with a smile.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked, although she already knew the answer to her question.
I smiled. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Mia and I hugged each other and said goodnight before mother and I walked back to our house.
She told me that she already showed the Daniels their rooms, so when I arrived home, I didn't have to talk or see them at all. I was more than glad about that.
I went straight to my room, closing the door and locking it behind me before falling face first on my bed.
Now that Mia was no longer with me, I wanted nothing more to do than to sleep. I felt so lonely without her as if something in my life were missing.
I quickly changed into much more comfortable clothing for the night before laying down on my bed. I could feel my eyes start to heavy before my world turned dark.
