Chapter 2
In Benson Group, Mr. Taiye Jackson sits on the front seat in the conference hall, where they're having a meeting with their different boards of members, whom are working under him in his other companies, which are registered underneath his name.
He speaks to his assistant softly in his ear like a whisper, "Introduce the new CEO to them now."
Well, they sit in the meeting hall, waiting to meet with their newly appointed CEO, whose name has been announced, but none of the workers have seen him yet.
Mr. Taiye Jackson is the former CEO, as his late father, Mr. Benjamin Jackson, was the first to establish the Benson Group, which means Benjamin and Sons Group of Companies.
They sit, waiting to witness the new handling of company ownership to Mr. Taiye's only son, Liam Jackson.
He is rumored to be cold, and unfilial, and the workers know that once he assumes the position as the new CEO of Benson Group, they will be dealt with.
Some have heard of Liam to be arrogant, mean, and also unappreciative, but he's very hardworking, and running some private businesses abroad, before his father finally announced his retirement to him, and wanted him to return to Nigeria to run his multimillion-dollar companies.
Liam had refused as he didn't want to return to his homeland.
He doesn't seem to find anything interesting, well except for his mother, who's a God-fearing Christian mother. As she dresses holy, and doesn't skip attending church to pray for her husband and him, as he's her only child.
Liam was meant to understand that his mother underwent a lot of marital crises at the beginning of her marriage with his father.
As his grandfather, Mr. Benjamin Jackson, had refused his father, Mr. Taiye, from marrying his mother, Mrs. Juliet.
But because his father truly loves his mother, even though other women out there were flocking around him, trying to seduce his father, and calling his mother barren. His father still insisted and married only his wife without having other extramarital affairs.
He stuck to only his wife, Mrs. Juliet Jackson, and stood by her even though his family refused and said she couldn't birth another child even after 10 years of Liam's birth.
His mother had a lot of miscarriages, and Liam knew it was because she worried so much about his father leaving her, and marrying another woman, which made her lost all those babies she had carried in her womb, except for him. As he just turned 30 years old, while his mother is 60 years old, and his father is 68 years old.
Liam loves his parents nonetheless, but his father had tricked him, by lying to him that he was sick, and even arranged a fake doctor who called him and told him of his father's ill health over on the phone call, asking him to return home from the states.
Liam was so annoyed to return home to his homeland, and see his father hale and healthy, moving around and attending business class meetings. He's angry that his father had tricked him into returning, and refused him from going back to the United States either.
Inside the headquarters of the Benson Group, where they have the oil manufacturing product, gas implant, steel production, and other production of basic amenities, as their company is well known globally.
Liam is in one of the private rooms on the second floor, adjusting his suit, and necktie as he wore a long white sleeves shirt, and a black plain trousers, and his black suit was neatly folded and kept on the table beside him.
His father had already spoken to him about introducing him to their different boards of members, and partners managing their business.
Liam breathes out heavily, and finally picks up his black suit and wears it.
His assistant, Brown Anderson, whom his father first assigned to him on his first day of joining the company, knocks on the private room door, and he replies, "Come in."
"Boss, it's time for your introduction to begin," Brown informs him, and Liam nods and wears back his black suit completely.
He walks out to meeting hall, just then, his father's spokesperson announced to the rest of the prominent men and women sitting in the large meeting hall, "Welcome Master Liam Jackson, the new CEO of Benson Groups of Companies!!"
The magnificent hall immediately erupts in a round of applause for him, as he steps to the front stage and climbs on the podium to receive the microphone, while his father is sitting at the front roll seat, and his father's assistant, Mr. Silas Greystone, hands to him the microphone to give a few speeches to their staff.
"Thank you all for acknowledging our invitation, and being a witness to my submission as the new CEO of Benson Group. I would like us to continue with our integrity, and work real hard to continue to build our company into a much brighter recognition of transparency and guaranteed product. Thank you all once again for being a part of my journey here with you all, thank you." Liam hands over the microphone back to Mr. Silas, and steps down from the podium.
The round of applause increases, as he walks to take his seat, while some top heads stand up and shake hands with him, as he approaches to sit on the seat made available for him.
Liam shakes hands with them before sitting, and they return to their seats, while his father, Mr. Taiye, smiles faintly at him, and stands up to give his speech, before the final closing speech from Silas.
"Thank you all for honoring my invitation and being a witness to this new beginning with our new CEO, who is none other than my son, Master Liam Jackson. I appreciate all our past workers who have been working hard in uplifting our company names, and creating a transparency that we are one of the best production companies here in Nigeria. I would like you all, both old and new workers, and those in retirement, to respect and work amicably with our new CEO, and follow whatever decision he implies for our company to grow globally. As you can all see he's global, and just returned from the states to be with us here. Thank you all once again, Silas, I give it to you to announce the final closing speech of the meeting for today." Mr. Taiye hands back the microphone to Silas, whom reads out some new briefs about the new products and prices. After that, he closes the meeting with his ending speech, while the invitees and the workers stand up to exit the meeting hall after the meeting with their new CEO ended.
Liam remains in the meeting hall with his father after the numbers of the guests, and members had reduced. Remaining just some few discussing. He stands up and walks up to meet his father, who's discussing with his friend, Mr. John Patrick.
"Father, I want to have a word with you," Liam tells his father, so he can round up his conversation with his friend, Mr. John Patrick. Who's also their worker, as he works as one of their managing directors, and very trusted in their company funds.
"Okay son, I will be with you shortly," Mr. Taiye responds to Liam, while Mr. John turns to face Liam too.
"Oh, Master Liam, congratulations on your new position as our new CEO," Mr. John smiles faintly at Liam.
"Thank you, sir. It's an honor meeting you too, and working here with you all" Liam says.
"You can count on us always, Liam. Your father is my boss, and a very good friend, and I am so happy to see you taking over his position. I know you will lead us well to a much better growth than your father and grandfather did."
"Thank you, sir," Liam smiles faintly, as he loves praise from his friends, colleagues, and elders as that motivates him to work hard.
"You're welcome, Liam. Mr. Taiye, I am leaving now. My daughter will be very upset with me for not showing up at her school convocation today, even after she has called me to come with her mother to the university," Mr. John says, as he faces Mr. Taiye's gaze.
"You know I cannot miss your son being introduced to us as the new CEO. So I asked her mother, and her elder brother to attend her convocation on my behalf, and she will be very annoyed with me about that," Mr. John says.
"Oh, so sorry about that, Mr. John, I hope she understands," Mr. Taiye responds.
"Yes, she will," Mr. John nods with a faint smile, wanting to leave.
"How about I make up for that and have her introduced to my son, and maybe extend our family friendship to marriage? I am sure she will be happy about that," Mr. Taiye proposes, and Liam frowns from where he's standing, and waiting. As he stands beside his father waiting for him to be through with his conversation with his friend.
"Oh, thank you, Sir, but that's only if she will accept," Mr. John quickly rejects, knowing how stubborn his only daughter is, and he doesn't want her to bring any problem between him and his boss.
"Why won't she accept? Liam is handsome, and every lady wants him. What did she study in the university again?" Mr. Taiye asks, and Liam's frown deepens, as he stares from his father to Mr. John.
Women aren't in his interest, and Liam also doesn't like how his father is trying to court him with a lady he hasn't met, and doubts he would like, just because her father is friends with his father.
