Chapter 3

Cindy's POV

I briefly savored his minty breath before pushing him away. "What the fuck do you think you are doing?" I asked while my eyes shot daggers at him. He smiled and pretended to be oblivious to my anger.

"There's no need to get all worked up Cindy," he said flirtatiously.

"You definitely can't deny the sexual tension between us. I know how you women are, you play hard to get, while you string your prey along. But I'm a man of action. I don't play games so let's not deny what we feel for each other."

I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him. While still smiling, he said, "I know you want me, every fucking woman on the planet does. First of all, you wore this sexy outfit because you wanted to get my attention, why else would you let your breasts call out to me?

Your body language completely shows that you want me and I don't blame you. I mean, take a good look at me. I'm rich, handsome, sexy, smart and the list is endless. What else could a girl ask for?"

"Well you forgot delusional, egotistical, conceited, and I could go on and on...."

"Watch your mouth," he cut in. "There's a limit to playing hard to get. Women throw themselves at me, so you should count yourself lucky that I'm saving you the task of making the first move."

I stared at him in shock. This guy is obviously mentally deranged. How could he be so arrogant? If no one had ever put him in his place before, today was definitely going to be the day.

The rumors only said he was a player and that he was rude. No one ever said he was a self absorbed jerk. I wondered why a girl would throw herself at such a man.

I guess he mistook my stare for consent as he grabbed me and tried to let my blouse loose. With all the strength I could muster, I whacked his face so hard that it sent him stumbling backward.

"What the hell," he screamed while holding on to his cheeks. "Do you have a death wish? You slutty bitch. Do you realize what you have just done? I gave you the privilege of sharing my bed and you dare raise your hand to me?"

"Yes I dare, Mr. Jack. What exactly do you take me for? Do I look desperate to you? What in the world gave you the impression that I'm into you? I don't know what girls actually see in you that makes them swoon, because for me, you are nothing but a disgusting man.

And did you just call me a slut? Oh I'm a slut because I refuse to fall at your feet? Get over yourself. I've met guys who are richer and more handsome than you and yet are very humble.

You may be my boss at the office but that doesn't give you the right to make sexual advances at me. If that is how you treated your past secretaries, learn today that I am the exception. In fact, let this be a wake up call for you. Mr Jack, you're nothing special. I have principles and you are the last person I'll ever break them for. Have a nice day."

When I was done saying my mind, I turned to leave but he suddenly said, "I haven't asked you to leave. Miss Cindy, you've really got some nerves. A cheap, lowlife miscreant like you dared to slap and talk back at me, and that too in such an insulting tone? I can make your life miserable with just a snap of my fingers."

"Your threats don't scare me, Mr. Jack. I am not afraid of you or your raging hormones. Get this one thing straight.

I, Cindy Banks, I'm not for sale and I'm not moved by proud, rich men. Whatever I need, I can always provide for myself. Thank you very much for considering me worthy of your attention." After speaking, I turned around and left.

As I walked away, I knew I had said goodbye to my job. I felt sad when I thought about little Tim. He had been so happy when I told him about my new job.

I wondered how I would face him and tell him I had lost the job I'd just gotten.

Well, it wasn't my fault that my boss was an arrogant prick. I may have gone a little bit overboard but he deserved it. I thought of first going to the hospital to see Tim, but I decided against it.

I needed to look for another job, as quickly as possible. I thought of all the other companies that I had submitted application letters to. I was going to call them and ask if they had any vacancy. There was no need for me to waste my time mourning over the loss of my job at Star Entertainment Agency.

When I got to my door, I was surprised to see Rick standing with a bouquet of roses in his hand. The sight before me just made my mood more sour. Why did I keep bumping into chauvinists who felt only they had the right to dictate how a relationship went?

I ignored Rick and took out my house keys to open my door but he surprisingly went on his knees and started begging, "Please baby, just give me one more chance. I know I fucked up big time but I cross my heart, it will never happen again."

I sighed and lightly massaged the crease that had formed on my forehead. I believed in giving people second chances, but it was a different ball game when my heart was involved. I couldn't afford to take Rick back into my life as I believed he was bound to cheat on me again, perhaps his excuse this time around would be, it's just mental.

I had a lot going through my mind and couldn't afford to add Rick's pestering to it. I thought of a nice way to get rid of him and an idea quickly popped into my mind.

I tried my best to smile at him and said, "Get up Rick."

He refused, saying that he wouldn't get up until I forgave him. I bent slightly and helped him get up.

Trying my best to sound patient and calm, I said "I was really hurt by what you did Rick. I'm still struggling to get over it so I need you to give me some time. I need time Rick to figure things out. When I feel a lot better, we will talk things out, I assure you."

He seemed to be taken in by what I said as he nodded and said, "Take all the time you need baby, but remember that I'll be waiting for you."

He opened his arms for a hug and I reluctantly obliged him. Like a leper, he pushed his luck and placed a kiss on my cheeks. I slowly swallowed in disgust and as he finally walked away to where he parked his car, I breathed a sigh of relief.
