Chapter 3

Alexander’s POV

“Crazy bastard” she muttered, or did I misheard her?

“Come again” I asked. “Oh nothing” she said and rushed out of my office.

As she rushed out I couldn't help noticing her firm backside. She can't be more than a 5’1 in height, with a soft and delicate build.

Her eyes are a shade of bright brown with a shy gaze. Her lips are full and sensual, I wonder what those lips could do to me. Oh geez! I slammed my hands on my desk.

I relaxed on my chair and rested my head on my palm. I have a lot on my table right now, I can't afford to be affected by the likes of her.

“How do I get a lady and get her pregnant before the granny’s time window”. I thought hard.

Don't get me wrong, I have a harem of ladies who would like to be at my beck and call,hell, I was even considering slutty Angelica. But that is just their usefulness. I can't settle for any of them, all they are after is my money and the pleasure.

I can't possibly have a child with any of those sluts. While I was deep in thought, my childhood friend Derrick Montgomery who is a Tech Mogul entered without knocking.

“Dude, you need to learn etiquettes!, you can't just barge in here” I said jokingly but with all seriousness.

“Yo, you gat to be kidding me”, he said pulling my hands in a handshake. “Are you okay?” He asked genuinely.

“I'm not”, I said telling him all that had happened with my grandmother

“That's a lot, but that shouldn't be a problem. I have hot girls for you, I mea….”

He trailed off when he saw my P.A enter the room, she on the other hand took no notice of him but rather dropped my cup of coffee and left the room quickly.

“That must be your new P.A, the third one in this month if I am right”. “She is cute to be honest”. “Why don't you try her, who knows?”. “ Most of this bitches are interested in you low-key”

“Nah”, “I don't dip my pen in the company’s ink” “that's a line I don't cross”, “she has a killer body quite alright but I don't do my secretaries”, “you should know that”, I said dismissively.

Myself and Derek chatted a bit more, he promised to talk to the CEO of DK Holdings on my behalf since he is a close associate of his before he left my office.

I checked my Rolex watch and saw that it was some minutes past 12 , yet I was tired. I needed a cold shower. I stood up from my table, took my phone and some documents and left .

“Cancel all my appointments for the day”, I told Anastasia as I walked out and went for the elevator.

“I would take another look at the document”, “thanks so much for your help Derrick”, I said before ending the call.

I searched the loads of files on my desk but couldn't find that of DK Holding, I must have missed it while rushing out earlier.

Picking up my phone, I called Brenda, “Have Miss Sterling bring the file on DK Holdings”, “my driver would be there to pick her up” I ended the call.

I went downstairs and informed Ben of the new update, “when she arrives, tell her to wait for me in the living room, I'll be in my study upstairs”, he nodded and went out.

I went back to my study and continued working as usual. Even though I have a huge problem at hand,all hands must be on deck, I must not be found lacking in taking the reins of the company when the time is right.

Moving to my wine cellar, “ there you are” I picked Macallan Scotch Whisky and poured it into a cup and drank away while I worked on other files before my assistant’s arrival.

I must have slept for a long time because when I opened my eyes, the whole room was dark, I switched on my reading lamp only to see that it was 7pm.

“The file!” I remembered and dashed downstairs, Anastasia must be waiting all this while. As I got to the end of the stairs, I saw her petite figure sleeping peacefully on the sofa, her phone was on the marble floor, it must have fallen off her hands.

I picked it up, dropping it on the center table. I gently tapped on her shoulders “Miss Sterling, sorry for keeping you waiting”, “I was busy with some calls”, I lied.

“It's alright sir”, she replied politely, she stood up immediately, smoothened her now rough pencil skirt and moved towards me to hand over the file, she suddenly slumped on me, scattering all the files about.

“Miss Sterling?I called and tapped her several times but she didn't yield. She had fainted!

“Patrick!” I panicked and called out, “get me water and towel” I ordered away , “and call the doctor too”.

I gently picked her up, rushed to my room and laid her on the bed. I placed my head on her chest and confirmed that she was still breathing.

“Thank Goodness”, I muttered, Patrick brought in the water and towel minutes later, I began to attend to her till my doctor arrived.

He did minutes later , he arrived and asked that I excuse myself while he attended to her.

I moved to the living room, thinking about what could possibly be wrong, “ it must have been because you made her wait for such a long time” a tiny voice in my head said but I discarded it.

Doctor came out minutes later smiling, “Congratulations Mr Jones”, he said, "what for?” I asked surprised.

“Oh, I thought she is your girlfriend”. “Anyway,she is pregnant, but we still need to carry out some tests to be sure how far she's gone”. “In the meantime, here is a list of drugs to get for her till she comes to the clinic”, he concluded,shaked my hands and headed out.

“She is with a child!?” I said smiling, the universe is indeed working in my favor!

I have on a platter of gold, a woman, not just any woman but a pregnant one!

“Oh, sweet Jesus”, I said mischievously and calculatively. All I have to do is create a perfect plan or should I call it a trap?

I went back to my room just in time, she had woken up and had sat upright with her eyes half opened. She opened them fully when she saw me enter the room.

“Miss Sterling? Welcome back and congratulations”, I said with a smile

“Huh, why are you congratulating me?” “If anything, I should be apologizing for the scene I caused”, she said timidly.

“Oh no, you shouldn't do that”, like I said, “congratulations”

She looked at me with her eyes wide open and not quite sure what I was yapping about.

“You are pregnant!”, I deadpanned.
