Chapter 13: Did You Forget What You Did Last Night?

Isabella was indeed very honest; she wasn't lying. The last time she got drunk, she ended up sleeping with Sebastian Whitmore. Sebastian never expected his little secretary to be so bold, saying whatever came to her mind. He suddenly wanted to see what Isabella was like when drunk.

"Drink." Sebastian placed the drink in front of her. "If anything happens, I'll take responsibility."

Isabella hesitated. Could they not play this game? Mr. Whitmore, you have a girlfriend; if anything happens, she couldn't bear the responsibility. She waved her hand, about to refuse, but one look from Sebastian made her change her mind immediately. She forced a smile, "Thank you, Mr. Whitmore."

Under the eaves, one has to bow their head. No matter what, she depended on her boss for her salary. Drinking was the least of her concerns. She took the drink with both hands, her fake politeness irritating Sebastian.

He really wanted to tear off her mask and see what lay beneath. Isabella closed her eyes and drank in one go with a determined expression. It was indeed good wine, smooth and mellow.

Just as she thought it was over, Sebastian poured another glass. Isabella felt a headache coming on but decided to drink for the money. Glass after glass, she eventually lost count and blacked out.

The next day, she woke up in a hotel room. Instinctively, she looked beside her—no one there. She lifted the blanket and saw that her clothes had been changed. Her heart skipped a beat. Did she sleep with Sebastian again last night?

She tried hard to remember but drew a blank.

"Awake?" A deep voice came from the bathroom direction.

Isabella turned to see Sebastian in a loose bathrobe, an image enough to make anyone's imagination run wild. Her heart raced as she turned away, covering her face with her hands, cursing herself for drinking too much.

Sebastian saw her reaction and knew what she was thinking. "Your clothes were changed by the hotel staff," he said.

Isabella was overjoyed and immediately looked up. "Really? Nothing happened between us?"

Her tone sounded more like relief than disappointment. Women trying to climb into his bed were as numerous as fish in a river; did this woman really have no such thoughts?

Sebastian felt slightly frustrated but kept his face expressionless and his tone cold. "No."

Those who knew Sebastian well would sense he was angry. He rarely showed his emotions openly; any expression he displayed was usually intentional.

But this natural display of anger was unprecedented. Isabella was the first person who made him lose control of his emotions.

Hearing nothing happened, Isabella sighed in relief and patted her chest instinctively, feeling like she had narrowly escaped disaster. "That's good; you scared me."

Her voice wasn't low at all.

"I'm not deaf," Sebastian said coldly.

Clearly, he heard her muttering.

Isabella gave an awkward smile. "Mr. Whitmore."

Sebastian sat on the sofa, his presence filling the room even while seated.

"Isabella, are you relieved nothing happened? Last night you were so confident about making a move on me; what happened? Got scared after drinking?"

Isabella looked puzzled: "???"

She sensed Sebastian was angry but didn't understand why.

Was he now asking to be slept with? Was his pride hurt?

No way; it must be a misunderstanding. If she really slept with him, she'd be dead meat.

She forced another smile: "Mr. Whitmore, I was just joking last night; I wouldn't dare make a move on you. Rest assured, I have no improper thoughts about you at all. I will do my job well; if I offended you last night, please don't hold it against me..."

Her attitude was excellent as she apologized profusely until her face almost froze from smiling so much, but Sebastian's expression only grew darker.

Isabella felt uneasy; did she do something while drunk last night?

Tentatively, she asked: "Mr. Whitmore, I drank too much last night... I didn't say anything crazy, did I?"

She feared that in her drunken state, she might have confessed to sleeping with him before.

"Why? Feeling guilty?" Sebastian raised an eyebrow. He hadn't intended to tease her but seeing how scared she looked piqued his interest. He scoffed coldly: "Isabella, I didn't expect you to be so bold last night—don't you remember what you did or said?"
