Chapter 7: Date
Chapter 7
"HOLD this for me, Renz. I'll just buy a drink."
Even before Enzo refused, Allie forcibly handed him his life-size pink stuffed toy. Pink stuffed toy. Pink . And she dared try to let him carry it.
He just looked up and then the wind blew.
"Is my vision fooling me? Enzo? Holding a pink teddy bear?"
"We see the same thing, Chase."
Enzo closes his eyes tightly. Then he turned to the two friends standing in front. "Shut up, Kyohei, Chase," he whispered to them.
Kei's face was blank as he sat opposite Enzo. Chase sided with Kei. Noticing the exchange of meaningful views of the two he immediately complained about them.
"What?"
Chase sipped a drink before answering. "Nothing."
"What is it?" he asked again.
"It's actually nice to see you letting loose once in a while. Allie's good for you," Chase replied.
"Tsk."
"You like?" Kei suddenly offered him the juice he was carrying. It tends to make "energy drink" that is not good for sight and taste.
"No, thanks."
"Who is Allie to you, Enzo?" Kei asked.
Enzo pinched the bridge of his nose before letting out a sigh. "A friend."
"Just a friend?"
His forehead furrowed. "Where is your question going, Kyohei?"
It shrugged. "I'm just curious."
Even before Enzo could answer, she heard Allie's voice calling his name. He looked at the source of the voice. Even before Allie could get close, Enzo stood up and met the woman.
With his free hand — he was still holding Allie's pink teddy bear — he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her onto the long queue ride.
"Why did you leave your friends so soon?" Allie asked as she turned to Kei and Chase.
He removed the grip on its arm and touched it to the cheek. He turned it forward so that he would not look at Kei again.
"They're annoying."
Allie's words were cut short when she saw what they were looking for. "Ferris Wheel! I invited you here earlier, ah! You said, you don't want to."
"Fine. Let's go somewhere else—"
Allie held Enzo by the arm. "No. We'll ride here."
Why did it seem like he could not say no to her and her demands? He was the kind of person who was always giving orders. Now, with Allie, the situation was in reverse.
"Hn."
"Renz, ask for your picture," Allie said suddenly.
Enzo knew Allie was being a 'cheeseball' again and honestly? He liked messing with her. He liked seeing her red face with annoyance. It was much better than seeing the sad and lost look in her eyes thinking he could not see it.
"No," he replied. He almost smiled when Allie puffed her cheeks. When was the last time he smiled? He could no longer remember.
"You're really ruining it! You should be saying why!"
"Why?"
"So Santa knows what I want this Christmas." Allie folded her arms. "It's ugly. If the conversation was straightforward, it would have been nice to hear that stretch."
Enzo shakes his free palm on Allie's head and gently distracts you. "Cheeseball," he grabbed her attention.
"What?"
"You know those who have no appetite?"
"Oh?"
"It's me when you're not around."
"Cheeseborg! You'll just stretch, you're still poker-faced! '
Enzo didn't even pinch Allie's red cheek.
Enzo remembered what his father told him when he was young. His father told him a person was born to complete someone's life. Enzo finally realized the meaning of those words. But how could you complete someone's life when you, yourself, was a complete mess?
Allie hugged the big teddy bear then looked around. Enzo and I are already riding the ferris wheel. They are side by side. Allie felt the heat coming from Enzo's body. Even though the breeze was cold, he was not cold.
"Thank you, Renz," Allie said to Enzo.
From looking at the scene Enzo turned to Allie. "What for?"
"Joining me here today. I enjoy it."
He grunted.
"Thank you for playing earlier. I have a new teddy bear," he said then hugged teddy bear tightly. Enzo won that earlier in a game.
"Little thing," Enzo simply replied.
When the balloon they were riding in was close to the top, Allie did not lean on Enzo's shoulder.
"What's wrong?"
He shook his head. "Nothing. I'm just happy."
"Good."
A few seconds later Allie spoke again. "I feel the safest when I'm with you, Cheeseborg. Even if you are stuck, rude, and rarely speak, as long as you are with me, I feel light."
He heard no response from Enzo. Instead he felt his palm rest on one of his hands. It gently squeezed you. Allie looked up to see Enzo's face.
She almost gasped aloud when she saw the small smile on his lips.
The corner of his lip slightly raised but it brought a big change to Enzo's face. It was as if his face had softened ten million times. His eyes seemed to brighten more and God. He looked so handsome it almost made her cry.
"It's all you, Cheeseball," he said in a soft voice.
There is that feeling again; the one who seemed to be digging into his stomach; the one who seemed to have a butterfly in his stomach; the one who seemed to have a warm hand caressing his heart.
"I don't want you to change, Lawrenzo. I just want to make you smile," she replied.
"You did, didn't you?"
Allie smiled. "Yeah, I did."
At the same time, an inexplicable feeling enveloped his heart. He wanted only her to see its smile; he just wanted her smile reserved for him.
When else has he been selfish?
"Give me your camera."
"Ha why?"
"Just give it to me."
He took the camera out of the bag and handed it to Enzo. It turned him leaning on his chest. It pointed the camera at the two of them. When she felt his soft lips on her forehead, Allie felt like her head would burst because of the heat.
"Thank you, Alianna."
Allie wished that, even for a moment, even for a few seconds, the world would stop spinning or time would stop functioning.
Even just now.
"ALLIE, are you and Captain?"
Allie's eyes widened when she heard Reus' question. He is here opposite Star City with Airin. They waited for Enzo to take his car to the parking area with Les, Cloud, and Guji.
Allie saw Enzo's friends focus on him. "N-no," he refused.
" Well ? Promise?" carving by Reus.
"Yes. We are just friends."
"I thought we were just Enzo's friends," Chase whispered.
"Captain is kind ... when he sleeps," Reus said then laughed.
Allie laughed too. It's really cool to be with and talk to Enzo's friends.
"Enzo looks scary," Airin said softly to him. This is Les's pretending girlfriend. Enzo told her it was his idea regarding the 'pretend relationship' between Les and Airin.
"It just looks but Enzo is kind," he replied then added, "When asleep."
They all laughed. They only stopped when someone sneezed from behind them. Seeing Enzo's serious face Allie frowned.
"Oops?"
Enzo just shook his head. "Let's go."
Allie waved to Enzo's friends as they said goodbye. He and Enzo will go home together while his friends without a car will accompany those who are carrying.
"Be careful, Allie. Wear a shield so that when the dragon bites you, you are safe."
"All right. Thanks for the advice, Reus. But it seems like you need it more."
Reus frowned when he probably saw Enzo's bad look here.
As Allie and Enzo got into the car of the latter, he turned to the man with a smile. "They're great people."
Silence. Then he said, "Yeah."
See? He was nice after all.
"Great people my ass."
Or not.
Allie scratched her head when it hurt. Migraine. He leaned against the bathroom door. He looked at the palms and noticed that they were shaking. It seems that his vigil for a few days was ruined.
Allie closed her eyes tightly and then we settled down. He tried to dismiss the headache in his mind. He looked up and pinned the wet hair attached to his cheek behind his ear. He put a towel on his wet hair and then his feet were heavy to go to the kitchen.
"What's wrong with you?"
"I have a headache."
"You're awake when you're awake," Enzo said shaking. He held her by the arm and then supported her into the living room. When he sat on the sofa, Enzo also left and went to the kitchen.
Enzo returned immediately. It carries water and medicine for headaches. It handed it to Allie.
"Thanks, Renz."
Enzo looked at Allie. The wind blew it away and pointed to the floor. "Sit here first," he said.
Curious, he sat on the floor. Enzo stood where he had left off. Coming out, he was sitting on the floor between Enzo's legs.
Enzo removed the towel that rested on his head. "You should not bathe at night," he said. She was surprised when he started drying her hair with a towel.
"I can do that—"
"Silence."
Gradually Allie felt better. Because of the drug? Because of Enzo? He does not know.
"You can work in the parlor, Renz. Washer and hair dryer."
"Shut up, Alianna."
She giggled. He leaned slightly on Enzo's leg and closed his eyes. "How are Les and Airin?"
"They're getting somewhere."
"Good. You can have a cupid, Renz. In other words, please."
"Hn."
"When you interfere in the love life of other Tennis Knights, tell me, ah. I want to make trouble."
It was nice to know that Enzo was helping Les about his love life. Even if Enzo says he just wants to cause trouble, he knows he really wants to help. Yata.
"My birthday is coming up, Renz. My gift, ah."
"I forgot."
He was left behind. Allie slapped Enzo's leg and walked away from the man as he restrained her on the shoulder.
"I was joking."
"You don't look like a joke!"
"You don't see me."
"I didn't hear you joking!"
He snorted.
When Enzo had finished drying Allie's hair, he took the comb on the table. She slowly combed her hair. Allie closed her eyes. He suddenly fell asleep because of what Enzo was doing to him.
"I'm sleepy, Renz," he said softly then yawned.
"Sleep. I'm here."
"Hmm."
The soft strokescoming from the brush disappeared and was replaced by his hand. His rough handwas softly stroking her hair. It was the last thing she felt until darknessclaimed her consciousness.
