Chapter 3: Weak
Chapter 3
Weak
POV: Denvereaux Thorne
“I must say that something exciting is about to happen for you here, my dear cousin.” King Levi boyishly smiled at him.
Denver just wanted to let him leave the place, but he insisted on hosting a welcome party for him. All the servant omegas were cooking for the feast, and Tristan – the King’s beta, who had this burgundy hair – was organizing everything for it.
“Just stop it or I will not accept this position anymore.” He irritatedly replied – causing King Levi to burst into laughter.
Denver annoyingly moved his sight to somewhere else, but he suddenly felt like his breathing hitched when he laid his eyes on the fair woman who was wearing a floral white and purple dress. She was smiling at her friend while they were arranging the tables and chairs.
He swallowed hard as he felt his inner wolf suddenly become restless.
When the lady bit her pinkish lower lip, he just wanted to go near her and talk to her all day. But his imagination was broken when his cruel cousin moved towards where he was and snooped towards where he was looking at.
“Stop snooping!” He annoyingly pushed him away, and he just chuckled at his reaction.
“Oh, that lady is truly gorgeous. She caught my attention a while ago, too. Mind if I borrow her first?” King Levi teasingly asked.
But Denver just grunted in frustration before he clenched his jaw.
“Stop your nonsense.” He spat angrily, but King Levi just chuckled at him, as if he was enjoying his annoyance while also amused by something.
Denver’s annoyance grew so that he just let his cousin and his strange thinking go. In the first place, he shouldn’t have made him see how annoyed he was. But he just couldn’t stop himself from doing so. His eyes diverted to where the lady was, but she was already gone.
He looked around – hoping that his eyes would eventually find her, but she wasn’t around.
“She went into the kitchen.” He heard King Levi answer the unspoken question in his mind.
“Shut it.” He suddenly turned serious and moved his eyes away from him.
King Levi, on the other hand, just watched him amusedly and shook his head while the corner of his lips rose.

POV: Shea Vestine
Until now, she still couldn’t believe how her heart beat so fast that it was making it hard to breathe. She didn’t even know how the meeting with the King ended. All that she understood was that the King wanted to host a welcome party tonight, and thus a servant omega like her needed to do the preparations that were meant for it.
Shea let out a deep sigh as she was arranging the tables and chairs. Carrie went towards her and helped her with it.
“Gosh! He must be sent from the sky.” She heard Carrie whispered – making her left brow shot upwards.
She immediately followed her gaze and discovered that she was staring at the man with burgundy hair.
‘What is his name again?’ She asked in her mind.
“You’re salivating.” She playfully commented.
Carrie wiped the possible saliva near her lips, only to be stunned and blush profusely when she realized she was teasing her.
Shea chuckled at her best friend’s reaction.
“You seemed to like him, huh?” She teasingly stated.
But Carrie just remained silent, and her face turned brighter shade of red. She must look like a tomato now.
She chuckled at her best friend. Now, she finally found her weakness, huh?
“Stop teasing me, my wicked friend. And let’s go to the kitchen. Your mother is already looking at you.” Carrie told her before walking first towards the main kitchen.
Before Shea could even follow Carrie, her eyes moved towards where their newly assigned Alpha was. He was really gorgeous, despite his annoyed expression. She didn’t know why her heart was fluttering that much whenever she looked at him, but she was hopelessly thinking of something impossible.
She slightly shook her head, and her eyes widened when she saw the King smilingly looking at her. He even raised his glass, and she looked around – thinking that it wasn’t her that he was looking at, but she was the only one around. She instantly bowed down and rushed towards the kitchen with her blushing face.
“Where the heck have you been?!” Lexi’s irritated voice welcomed her before she could even enter the kitchen door.
“Uh, I… I am arranging the table and chairs.” She nervously uttered.
Lexi rolled her eyes at her before angrily throwing her a glare.
“Stop giving excuses. Are you trying to flaunt yourself in front of the new Alpha and the King? Or you’re probably thinking that you are already free because Connor is not here anymore?” Lexi annoyedly accused her, but she simply shook her head in disagreement.
“I am not. Really. I am just arranging the-”
Then, her cheeks suddenly stung because of Lexi’s hard slap. She held her pained face as her eyes blurred because of the unshed tears.
“What’s the matter with you?” She painfully cried, but Lexi just smirked at her – like she was getting more and more irritated at her tears.
“Stop acting like you’re so innocent and kind, Shea. Stop playing as if you are a victim here. You are just a pretentious b*tch who always wanted to get everyone’s attention.” She said the words while gritting her teeth.
Before Lexi could say anything else hurtful to her, she dashed towards the riverbank, where Carrie and her always went.
She held her chest as her tears couldn’t stop flowing freely down her face.
Until now, she still couldn’t comprehend the reason why Lexi was so mad at her. She wasn’t like that when she first met her. But now…
Shea shook her head. She couldn’t understand her, but she couldn’t accept that she could even go physical on her because of the unknown conflict that she was trying to throw at her.
She wiped away her tears and bit her lower lip to stop herself from crying more. She leaned against the massive rock and gazed at the moon, which shone brightly and proudly in the darkness.
Shea filled her lungs with the cold, soothing breeze of the night’s ethereal scent. She raised her hand as if she was holding the moon in her palm.
“When can I finally reach you?” She whispered under her breath and smiled at her own thoughts – trying to obliterate the idea of her own sister and her encounter with her a while ago.
“Maybe you can achieve it the moment you accept the fact that you just can’t do it.”
Her eyes widened in fear and nervousness as she turned and found those gray eyes glistening soulfully under the moon’s light.
Shea swallowed hard as she unconsciously held her chest – where her heart was fluttering crazily inside her.
