CHAPTER 1

Six years later.....

"Alejandra sweetie.Come on or we'll be late for lunch with grandma."Abigail grabbed her bag on the bed.

"I'm coming mommy,I can't find Dino my dragon."Her five year old daughter said.

"Where did you leave him last sweetie?"She asked walking into her room.

"He was on my bed."

"Maybe he fell did you check underneath your bed."Abby bent to look for it and found it lying under the bed."Here you go."She said handing it to her.

"Thank you mommy."

"Anything for you my angel."Alejandra gave her a hug."Are you ready to see your grandmother."

"Yes.I love spending time with grandma,why don't we move closer to her."

"We already close to her,it only takes us fifteen minutes to get there."

"It feels like forever."Alejandra said,Abby smiled.

"Get in the car and don't forget to buckle your seat-belt."Soon they were on the road.Her mother has re-married after the death of her father,he had died before Alejandra had been born at the time she was eight months pregnant. When Ally had been two years her mother had met and married Jack they had moved to San Francisco after the wedding,Abby can see they love each dearly and her mother is extremely happy with Jack he treats her right.He has his own chain of jewelry shops,they are staying in South of Market where only the wealthy can afford to stay.

Ally and she are staying in Ross Alley the place and neighborhood are safe although it wasn't top ranking that's what she can afford even the schools are affordable and Abby loves staying there the people are nice and friendly almost everyone knows anyone,when she had opened her bakery three years ago everyone had given her a warm welcome.Since then she's been happy and living her life with her daughter,there was a time when she had almost given up on life but she hadn't when Ally had been born everything had changed,from there Abby had vowed to protect and do anything for her daughter.

Alejandro has broken her heart,but through it all she came out better stronger,the day she had left Seattle she left him along with her heart too and never looked back.Where he is?What he was doing.She has no idea and doesn't care either,he lied to her for a whole year made her believe that they'll spend their lives together forever,even hinting at the fact that he wanted to have kids that's the reason Abby had stopped taking her birth control pills so they could start that family...but it had all been a lie for that she will never forgive him.

The house Jack and her mother were staying in was quite big Abby cannot understand why they living in such a big house because Jack only has one child a son and he was working along side his father.The house has six bedrooms,five and half bathrooms a study,lounge area,living room,dining room and a private family room,out on the patio was an out door living area with a barbecue area,a huge pool with a separate spa pool too.Ally just loves swimming whenever they visit her grandmother because they don't have a pool at their house.Emily the housekeeper open the door for them,stepping inside the foyer she closed the door behind them.

"Hello Emily."

"Miss Young,sweet Alejandra.Your mother is waiting for you outside by the pool."

"Emily please call me Abby we've known each other for a while now."

"Fine.Abby."She smiled."How about I make you your favourite milkshake."She told Ally.

"Yes please!"She exclaimed.

"First let's greet grandma."Abby told her daughter,her mother was lying on a chaise lounge under an umbrella reading one of her many romance books with a glass of wine next to her."Good day mother."She greeted her mom.

"You late."Kate Garner said,not glancing up from her book.

"Grandma!"Ally jumped onto her."I missed you."Kate embraced her grand daughter in a warm loving hug.

"I missed you too pumpkin."She kissed both her cheek."Wanna tell me why you and your mother are late."

"I couldn't find Dino so mommy help me look for him."

"Dino your dragon."Kate asked,she nodded."Did you find him."

"Yes,mommy did."Ally scooted of her lap.

"Where you off to."

"Aunt Emily is making me a milkshake."Alejandra said before rushing off to the kitchen.

"Where's Jack and Eric?"Abby asked."Will they join us for lunch."

"No.They'll be having lunch with a new business associate."Kate answered.

"Mom.What's going on?Over the last few days you've been acting strange.Are you okay.Did you and Jack have a fight."

Kate sighed deeply after a while she faced her daughter."Jack's business is having financial problems Abby,the other night I over heard him and Eric talking about it in his study.It's bad if they don't find an investor soon we'll be out on the streets with nothing."Kate's eyes filled up with tears Abby went to sit down next to her mother.

"Why didn't mom say anything?"

"No,I'm not about to bother you with our problems."

"Mom.We always talk about everything regardless of how bad it is."

"Do we.I'm still waiting for you to tell me who Ally's father is,after all these years don't you think I have a right to know.You've struggled so hard with her even working part time while you were still in school to support her."Abby fell silent."I'm sorry honey,but I'm worried that's all."

"It's okay mom I understand."

"Who is he?"Kate asked.

"Who's who."

"Alejandra's father Abby."

"Mom please I don't want to talk about it,it happened a long time ago."Abby stood up and gazed at the beautiful view before her.

"When will you talk about it.Ally's growing up she'll want to know who her father is,what will you say then."

She shrugged."I'll deal with it when that time arrives."

"He needs to help you take care of her,and the day I find out his name I'll personally ask him why he never bothered about his daughter."

"Exactly why I never told you his name mom."Abby faced her mother."We doing fine the bakery is making enough for us to survive.We're happy we don't need anything else and we certainly don't need hands-out from anyone."

"Alejandra needs to know her father I know she must've asked you about him hasn't she."Abby remained quiet."Well she did ask me last week saying you don't want to tell her.She's even asked why we have brown hair where as she has black hair."Abby shut her eyes tightly,Alejandra might have her eyes but her skin tone and hair colour she got from her father in fact Ally has nothing from their family she's her father's daughter."Why did you give her the name Alejandra?Why is she taking spanish classes,no one in our family speaks spanish yet Alejandra is very fluent in it."

"Mother please if I'd known you would bring up the past I would've stayed at home."

"You cannot run away from yours Abby,sooner or later it will come back to haunt you."Abby silently thank Emily for coming with Ally at that moment.

"Lunch is ready Mrs Garner?"Emily said.

"Thank you Emily.We'll be there shortly.

"Grandma I'm not seeing grandpa or uncle Eric."Ally asked.

"They are at work sweetie."

"On a Saturday,mommy never works on a Saturday."

"They had important work to take care of.Come on let's go and eat I'm sure you must be hungry."
