EXPOSED
And that was the last time we ever saw each other. I was not only disheartened when I was chased out of the pack, but I felt rejected by someone I thought would sacrifice everything for me even his life. After he left the party, I never heard of him and he never visited. Only Agatha visited me a few times after I was kicked out of the pack probably because she knew that I was treated unfairly by Damon and when she stopped coming, I lost complete contact with the pack. Over the years, It was rather hard for me to bear the loss of losing him as my mate including my place in the pack but I somehow pull through all the hardship. As time went on, I left home to settle in Montréal where I completed my studies in college after leaving high school and soon found myself a job to get a good hold on life.
After ten years of bitter separation, the past soon caught up with me. I never knew how he found out where I was at that time but all I know that things started changing after I was streamed on live television with a detective that had solved a homicidal drug case committed by a serial killer that was first suspected to be innocent of the crime. The outcome of the case was streamed on public news in the last week of July and I was required to appear on television for yet another deadly case. It was a noteworthy event for the public because of those involve in the case but thanks to the media, Damon was able to pinpoint my location in the map of North America even when I had rejected a few of his letters.
Damon and the other werewolves in the pack did not left Jacksonville since our last meeting. He was watching TV in his living room when the incidental video went viral on the cable news network's live feed that day. As a rookie, I had no choice but to comply with my boss's official request even though the show had made it clear that I needed to be present in person. However, the news of the case's closure and the sentenced suspect had gone viral enough that I was interviewed in public. I was certain that Damon had to have heard all I said because I was the host speaker of the TV show.
For the about hour and forty-five-minute interview, I had dressed elegantly in a fancy red blouse that made me look busty and styled my hair neatly. And I didn't realize my name was on their television network until after I had sat down for the interview.I could have lied if he had talked about it to me but my name was clearly written on the television screen along with the major headlines of the show. The event was quite momentous in my career even though it was awkward having a camera stuck to my face and the audience as well as Damon must have heard the first question that I asked the Detective. Everything was going smoothly since the show started till it got to the third round of the lengthy show which was to be the final end of it.
“Detective Lindsey, it is said here that the case was a tricky one and that all evidence regarding the prime suspect was misleading, how do you explain this to the viewers? And how were your team able to figure out the real murder of the crime?”
I questioned from the card I held as I looked at him, waiting for the answer.
“Uh… Like you said, it was kinda tricky but a critical look on the evidence helped directed our attention somewhere else”,
“And the evidence turn out to be falsified, right?”
“Pretty much, yes. If we hadn’t reviewed the evidence properly, we would have convicted the wrong suspect”
“I believe the suspect that has been released must be grateful for your efforts”
“Of course, he is but we were lucky we found that the evidence was fabricated before the final hearing”
“That answers the first but what about the second question?”
“Um…the fingerprints that was found on the victim’s corpse were implanted and it didn’t match the ones on the rope that was used to throttle the victim to death which we later found somewhere else in the victim’s house”
“A lucky search in the house was all it took?”
“Bad as it may be on the side of the cops, yep, that was all it took to find out the truth”
“Sounds like the criminal wanted to mislead everyone”
“Obviously, yes and he almost did”
“Alright. Thank you for telling our viewers and us a bit of what happened”
I replied with a broad grin and faced the camera squarely to conclude the remaining segment of the show.
“That’s all we have to hear from Detective Lindsey himself regarding insight of the case. We’ll be hearing comments regarding this issue some other time and I’m glad we kept everyone entertained. Till next time folks”
Damon as well as the three betas who were with him and a six-year-old boy at his residence, listened with attentiveness as I concluded the show and he was somewhat bewildered to see the broadcast which actually was streamed a day before he watched the video. He received the event about my appearance on television with mixed feelings and rather than being regretful, he was not too pleased the widespread exposure of the broadcast. From the fact that I had unknowingly appeared on TV, he knew of the consequences and wished that I had read the three of his letters he had sent me some time when I was studying in college while residing When I ended the show, Damon, the three betas who were with him, and the six-year-old youngster at his house all listened intently. He was a little taken aback to see that the broadcast was actually streamed the day before he watched the video. He had mixed emotions regarding my television appearance; instead of feeling sorry for me, he was annoyed by the broadcast's extensive publicity.in Montréal. While Damon was thinking about the consequences of my actions and what he could do to prevent the inevitable, the child who sat next to him on the couch had been drawing an image of me on a sketchpad after writing down my name that he saw on the news headlines. Twice he stroked his chin in contemplation, staring at the three betas beside him with blank eyes as if they held the answers to his questions.
