In the beginning, small gods were given power to create. Some focused on ways to make Almighty's creation grow strong and survive, while some wanted to create companions for themselves and for some of the Almighty's humans who were uneven in number and seek companions too. The Moon Goddess was one of those who saw their need, felt their loneliness and heard their cry and that was when she created her First.
She created a man, born of earth, eyes as blue as the Almighty's sky, lips as pink as soft flowers and voice like a nightingale. She had felt so proud and happy as she watched him in silence. She had also watched as he had fallen in love with a farmer, a man with grey eyes and soft smile, she watched as Nian, her creation, her First creation had married the farmer, watched as the farmer's soft smiles towards Nian turned into a sneer but she didn't do anything for it was written, small gods were not allowed to interfere with their creation unless they were prayed to.
The Moon Goddess screamed the first time the farmer hit Nian, she screamed so loud the floors shook but she still couldn't interfere. So instead of watching from afar, she stayed beside Nian, like a shadow. However, humans have the tendencies to destroy things they find beautiful, things they don't understand. It happened on the First moon of the third moon, Nian was in the backyard, and he had a piece of clothing in one hand that he used to fan the flames underneath the pot so that the broth would cook faster. The farmer came in angry and had pulled Nian by his hair and dragged him around, ignoring Nian's cries. Nian cried as the farmer hit his head against the side of the hut repeatedly and blood slid into Nian's eyes.
"Why can't you give me a child?! Is a son too much to ask for?!" The farmer screamed as he kept hitting Nian. The Moon Goddess tried to reach forward but there was an invincible barrier stopping her, every time she tried to reach out, her finger slip through the Nian's skin like she was a ghost. She screamed and cried, shaking her body as Nian drew his last breath and the barrier melts away due to her pain. She ran to his body and pulled him to her chest, her long hair fell over him, wrapping around his body like a twine, a soft glow emitting from it. Her tears fell onto his face, seeping into his skin. Bright lights poured out through every pore on Nian's skin and that's when the farmer knew he had made a big mistake. He fell to his knees and tried to crawl towards Nian but this made the Moon Goddess turn livid. Her eyes turned pure white and she points a finger at the farmer, she lets out a loud growl and raised the screaming man into the air.
"I know you're hurt, Serene..." A loud voice called out to her. The Moon Goddess doesn't say anything to Dracula but placed all her attention in making sure she breaks every bone in the farmers body, in the woods behind them, she heard the sounds of paws hitting the ground, with her senses so sharp she knew whatever was coming was close. The farmer was writhing in the air, cries of pain leaving his lips as each bone bent and broke. Tears fell down her cheeks as she turned away from the farmer to her first child. She could have done something sooner but that barrier was just something small gods could break through. She turns to the woods when she hears a howl and just as the clouds in the sky part and the moonlight came through, a black wolf leaped out and grabbed the farmer by the throat. Serene, the Moon Goddess watched as the wolf devoured the farmer, heard every crunch as the wolf chewed on his bones until there was nothing left of the farmer.
"Serene..." Dracula calls again but she doesn't listen. She moves closer to her child who had died with his blood stained eyes open. She mutters a prayer as she unwraps her hair from his boy and began covering him with sand.
"Born of earth, born of me, return to the winds, be one with me." She prays as she covered Nian's body with sand. Bit by bit, Nian's skin began to give away. With each breeze, flecks of his skin flew by like dust until he was gone with the wind. The wolf came closer to Serene and sat beside her, he nudged her with his head and pushed through until he could place his head on her lap.
"He's not gone." Dracula tells her, snapping her out of her misery. "He's with you." He says, looking down at the wolf. Serene frowns at him and turns to the wolf, she looked closely but couldn't feel anything but once the wolf opened his eyes, she gasped.
The wolf had eyes as blue as they sky, just like her Nian's, however, there were flecks of red around it. Serene buried her face onto the wolf's head and cried in happiness. She hadn't lost him, he was here with her. Her child was here.
"Never will you be weak, never will you be with the wrong person. I will make you strong and indestructible, I will make sure this is so for generations to come." The Moon Goddess says. "With the light of the moon, I bless you." She says. The wolf shifted away from Serene, with each step it took backwards, it became bigger, it's fangs sharper, bones stronger and senses heightened.
She did keep that promise, she kept it for many generations, however, centuries later things began to change.
--
It's the sixteenth century and Nian has been by the Moon Goddess' side as her son and as a wolf but this was until he stumbled upon Elizabeth. She was the daughter of a Lord in the United Kingdom. She had literally taken Nian's breath away and this worried Serene to no end. She watched as Nian followed Elizabeth every day in the shadows and watched after her. Wanting to know more, to understand what her First was feeling, something had to be done. So at night, when the moon was full and the light flooded through the trees of the forest, Serene pressed a kiss to Nian's neck and covered his mouth with her hand and blessed him one more time.
The very next morning, there was a development. For the First time in centuries, she could finally hear Nian's voice. His soft voice flooded through her mind and echoed in his head. She wept with joy, the sky turning grey and specks of snow began to drop.
"Mother!" Nian cried, crawling towards Serene who knelt down and hugged her son tight.
"My child! Oh how happy hearing your voice has made me!" Serene says, stroking Nian's dark fur.
"I too, am glad to hear my voice and to finally talk to you."
Being able to communicate with one another made things a bit easy. The fact that it was telepathically made it a hundred percent better because a talking wolf was... not a good idea. Yes, being able to communicate with his mother, with his maker made Nian happy. He wanted to talk to Elizabeth. Wanted her to see him as a person not as a huge wolf.
"Mother, I've come to you today to ask for a body, a body worthy of a woman like Elizabeth. Please mother, I feel like I love this woman, she's the one." Nian prays to Serene and the Moon Goddess doesn't know what to do. Many things could go wrong and if she turns him human, there's a high chance that he would be injured or worse killed.
"You didn't pray to me to help you with the farmer who must not be named but you pray to me now. Why?" Serene asks, stroking Nian's fur.
"Because I feel like this is where my home should be, mother. Just watching her makes me happy, I want to know everything about her, live with her, love her and give you grand children. To help you populate the earth just like what Dracula and Fae Aine are doing."
"If you want this, you can't go alone. You have to give me a year."
"A year, mother?"
"Yes. I want to create those who will stay by you. They shall be your second, your third, your warriors, your brothers and sisters, they shall be your family." Serene says, still stroking Nian's hair. "You shall be their leader." She said and Nian lets out a silent scream when he feels like tiny needles were poking at his skin, not know his fur was receding.
"You shall lead them into battle if there be one." Serene blesses him. He lets out a loud howl as his bones began to twist and align until he wasn't bent on all fours but lying naked on the ground. "You shall be their Alpha, their adviser, the strongest warrior, a symbol of goodness." Serene goes on, smiling when Nian finally opened his eyes. "You will be a man made of wolf with your wolf not far away from you but within you, you shall be able to communicate with one another at all times, once you decide and have accepted the family of brothers and sisters I give you- communication with them will be done both physically and telepathically, especially your mate, your strength and power shall remain in human form and for generations to come, for years to come, you will be known as my creation. A man made of wolf." Just as she finishes her blessing, Nian passes out.
He wakes up on a bed with a stick of candle glowing beside him and a wet towel on his head. Sitting beside him on the bed was Elizabeth, she was squeezing another towel in a bowl and turned, about ready to swap the towel she had kept on Nian's head hours ago to this freshly squeezed one.
"Goodness, you're awake."
Nian sits up and stared around in confusion. He knows where he is, has spent countless nights watching the small cabin, Elizabeth scent was everywhere in the cabin and Nian just wants to rub himself on every surface. What confused him was how he got here. The last thing he remembered was his mother, the Moon Goddess praying and the searing pain he had felt. He stared at the hands on his legs in shocked and raised it to his cheeks so he could feel his face.
"Are you okay, mister?"
"Do you have a glass, something I can check my reflection with?" he asks, politely and Elizabeth nods. He watched her leave the room and come back a few seconds later with a mirror. He looked the same way he did when he had lived with the man who must not be named, even his eyes were as blue as they were, if only with little flecks of red and happiness bubbled in him. She had answered his prayer.
"You are smiling."
"I have much to smile about." Nian tells Elizabeth who nods as if she understood.
Watching her son be with humans, live amongst them gave Serene a very uneasy feeling, Maybe it's because of past experience but who knows. However, perplexed her. How could Nian freely fall for someone human after what he had gone through decades ago, how could he freely hand his heart over to Elizabeth without a care in the world. She got her answer whilst watching over them.
Elizabeth had made sure Nian was okay, always had food prepared and had held him on the nights when his nightmares got too much, she had shared her thoughts and her fears with him. She was his Luna. Whilst watching them she learned she didn't need to create a Beta, Nian had found one himself and his name was Gabriel. They both tilled the ground up North and provide wheat, pepper and rice for the community. They were the best of friends, provided a shoulder to her First and Serene was happy. So happy, she blessed him too. She blessed Gabriel with strength, healing and the ability to morph from man to wolf at will, just like her First.
Without her help, Nian made his family. He had his wife, his beta, his gamma and his Omega. She was so happy she blessed them even more with a child. Her First grandchild. All was well and a few centuries later, her children were scattered across the earth like dust. She had seen how strong Elizabeth had made Nian and so she made sure for each of her creation there was someone out there for them, their other half, their...mate. She had seen what finding the wrong person first had done to Nian, so she made sure each of her creation would be able to tell their mate apart from each other so they wouldn't go through what Nian did. The beautiful thing about this is, majority of the other gods of creation agreed with her and thus, for every being there was a mate.
All was well with the world and her creations. They each had a family consisting of the Alphas, Betas, Gammas and Omegas. Some family packs even included pure humans and they were taken care of as one of their own. They had the gift of reproductions, both male and females. She had done this when she remembered why Nian had died in the first place and didn't want a repeat, for you learn from your past mistakes.
But like always, evil has a way of sneaking in and destroying everything.
It was 1706, a small town in Quebec, when Serene heard the First cry of an Omega being maltreated. He had cried and cried and Serene had gotten so angry. How could someone maltreat her mate, why would an Alpha maltreat an Omega? She had wrapped her child in her arms and had taken him far away from his mate. The Omega's name was Fionn, a male and Agatha his Alpha. As a punishment to Fionn's mate, she cursed her. Fionn's Alpha. The farther she took him away from his mate, the more pain Agatha felt. Serene made sure the pain was excruciating to the point of hallucinating. She never took Fionn back and had smiled when Fionn's mate and Alpha had died.
The second time she heard another cry of pain was in 1795, a park house in Seoul, Korea. This time it was a human that was being beaten up. The human, Haeng Ah, was a human born by werewolf parents and was the mate of a Beta. The Alpha knew about this and never said a word and had instead ignored it, the Beta took out his frustrations on his human mate until she was weak and bloody and without her healing, she was in so much pain. Serene screamed when she found her passed out, she screamed so loud that the skies opened up and rain poured down. That very night, Haeng Ah had died and Serene hoped someone from the pack would do something but oh how wrong she was. She was shocked when the Alpha of the pack himself had gone into the room Haeng Ah's body was kept and had sex with her lifeless body.
The one that broke the camel's back was in 1808, Egypt. This time, the prayer she got was not of help but of death and that alarmed her to no end. However, when she gets there she sees it's a Beta praying to her. A Beta of all people and the scene before her made her turn red with anger. The Alpha of the pack was thrusting into his Beta harshly, his hand tight around the Beta's throat and there's blood everywhere and what pissed her the more was the fact that people could hear what was going on, could hear the cries of the Beta but none of them bothered to help. Worst of all was the Alpha was doing this to his mate. The Beta was his mate and it irked Serene. With each step she took towards her creation, the ground shook and there was a loud rumble of thunder. The lights went out, the Alpha doesn't even bother to stop, ignoring the cries of his beta, of his mate. He only stops when Serene wraps her hands around his neck and pulls him off his Beta. Since she was unseen, the Alpha appeared to be floating. The Alpha lets out a loud scream and that's when members of the pack began to rush into the room. Serene grabbed each of them, her hair tightening around their throat in anger. The doors wasn't even locked and no one came in to help. The Alpha was doing something he shouldn't, he was taking advantage of his power, of his status and belittling his mate. She snapped her fingers and every member of the pack within the building, except for the Beta, fell down and died.
The Beta's light was about to go out and Serene kneels down beside him, cradling his face to her chest.
"My child..." she wept. The Beta couldn't see her but he could feel her presence and so before he died he whispers.
"I want to be with him when I die." The Beta whispers and Serene shook her head. Where that Alpha was going was not where someone as pure as the Beta should go to. "Forgive him. He didn't know what he was doing. He didn't want a male mate. He didn't want a dark skinned mate. Give him one more chance..." The Beta takes his final breath after he got all his words out and closed his eyes. Serene wept over her creation, traced his eyebrows, his nose, his lips, his ears with her finger then down to his neck where she could see the handprint of the Alpha, she turned his body to the side and stared at the wound that had stopped healing and that's when she made her decision. She made her way out of the house and stands in front of it, as the building goes up in flames, she raised her hands up to the skies and stared at the building, tears going down her cheeks as she cursed her creations.
"You will walk this earth searching, feeling incomplete but you will never find what you seek! Your cries for finding what you seek will go answered. No mates shall be found till my curse is broken. Till I am appeased. I curse you, my creation, my dust and my own, to walk the earth without finding your other half!" The earth shook in agreement and the thunder strike that hit the ground sealed the curse. For she has spoken and so shall it be.
