Chapter 2
I felt tongue-tied watching my friend's sister bounce on my boyfriend's joystick, tears streaming down my eyes, as they mocked me.
What did I do to deserve this, a part of me wanted to march in there and pull her off him, but the other part of me just wanted to walk away.
Following the other part of me, I turned around, not saying or word or interrupting them, I walked out of the house, my sight foggy from tears as I made my way to Jennifer's house.
I banged hard against her door, eager for her to open up, "what!" She yelled opening her door to find me crying in front of it.
"Emily" her voice softened as soon as she set eyes on me.
"what is going on" she asked placing her hands on my shoulder, she walked me into her apartment.
"Did you know" I managed to ask as soon as we got into her private space.
"is that why you don't like him" I said to her, unable to raise my voice beyond a whisper.
"What is it Em" she wondered, as my cry slowly got louder, I felt betrayed, and hurt, my heart beating like it was going to fall off my chest.
"What is it?" she asked again.
"It hurts so much," I said, holding on to my chest, I had never felt this much pain before, I had never been betrayed like this.
"Talk to me" she pleaded, the worry in her voice becoming evident. She led me to her couch sitting me down gently on the single sitter, before kneeling beside me and clutching my hands to get a clearer view of my face.
"I just saw Jake, with Rose" I said, after a minute of crying uncontrollably.
My revelation was followed by deafening silence, I could tell it took Jennifer a minute to process the whole thing.
"What!!" "what were they doing" she asked in utter disbelief, her step-sister Rose always spoke about how lucky Jake was to have me. Teasing him to treat me well. It was clear she was mocking me.
"They were having sex" I sobbed, Jennifer's hands squeezing mine in anger.
"That bitch!" She exclaimed, getting to her feet. the surge of anger oozing through her voice.
she moved towards her golf bag, picking up her favorite stick, walking straight to the door.
"What do you think you are doing" I paused watching her gear up to smack the hell out of them.
"I am going to beat them up," she said with so much seriousness in her voice that I couldn't help but laugh.
I imagined her whooping their naked asses off each other.
"Thank you," I said feeling better.
"They are not worth it" I realized, wiping my tears.
"you were right about Jake, he is a horn dog" I agreed.
Jennifer nodded, putting her bat down,
"he is and you need to get over him," she said moving closer to the couch.
I saw her eyes lit, like she had just had a light bulb moment.
"You know what would get your mind off Jake and my silly sister Rose," Jennifer said, with eyes wide open.
"What??" I asked.
"Attend the masked app launch with me and hook up with a total stranger"

I put on the bold wine dress Jennifer let me borrow, I am a little thicker than she is making her dress fit perfectly on my body.
I tied my brown hair into the perfect bun, putting on her lacy black mask. "This is a terrible Idea" I thought to myself, staring at the gorgeous woman in the mirror who looked nothing like me.
This woman looked bolder, her dress more confident, I never thought I could pull off a slit all the way to my hips or a back cut so low, it stopped before my hips.
"Is this Emily" Jennifer teased, walking into the room all dressed up in a silver lengthy gown with a silver mask.
"How many of these do you have" I asked wondering how easily she was popping out masks.
"Trust me, you don't want to know" she winked.
"Daddy is sending a driver to pick us up" she said, and on the queue, her phone began to ring, "his here" she said taking my hands.
We walked into the hall, it had a relaxing ambience with blue light, everyone in masks and it was filled with loud music and chatter.
"Let's get you a new man" Jennifer whispered then chuckled, she was enjoying this way too much.
She led me to the bar, "I need to get her drunk" she said to a bartender who smiled and nodded.
"No, I just want Coke with ice" I protested, I loved to play it safe, I hardly ever drank.
"Listen, Robi," she said, looking at his name tag.
The bartender's smile faded as he nodded again.
"Come on Em, don't be boring" Jennifer said, the word boring reminding me of Jake and what I had just seen.
"I am not boring" I berated angrily, turning to the bartender "Give me the strongest you got" I said, making up my mind to just have fun.
If Jake could do it, so could I.
"That's my girl" Jennifer praised smiling at me, I rolled my eyes at her, sipping the drink the bartender served.
I turned to find Jennifer gawking at someone, tracing her eyes to find a handsome man in a blue suit, in his hand was a mask with a holding stick, his face showing half of the time.
"You have a crush?" I asked, as her face curved into a blush.
"Do you know who that is?" she asks and I shake my head. I had no idea, I wasn't sure I was seeing the person clearly my sight felt woozy, my stomach was not for alcohol, and the little sip I took was already getting me tipsy.
"That is Jake's father" she said, I looked at her in disbelief staring back at the man she was gawking at, he looked nothing like anybody's father.
He had the best figure and the finest smile, "yummy daddy" I said, the tipsy was talking and not me.
I felt Jennifer grab my hand tightly, "I just had the best idea" she says, looking at me with bright eyes.
"You know the best way to get over Jake," she said, tipsy me looking at her and nodding.
"Get under his father"
