Chapter 5
Peter and Andrea's marriage is gone.
In a change from his more than respectful attitude toward the Rutherford family, he went straight to the door and backed out of the marriage.
Naturally, the Rutherford family is no slouches when it comes to raising a bossy daughter like Andrea.
The Rutherford family is in an uproar in Rivermist over the withdrawal of Miss Rutherford family from their marriage due to intentional assault, and the Rutherford family is so humiliated that they threaten to have a standoff with Peter.
Peter has no fear, except to say that if the Rutherford family dares to deliberately retaliate or maliciously switch to his opponents, he will immediately file a lawsuit against Andrea.
He'd taken the big guys from the warehouse that day, and with Andrea's leverage in his hands, he could send someone to jail whenever he wanted.
Andrea is the only daughter of the Rutherford family in power.
For the sake of his daughter's reputation, he could only swallow his teeth and blood.
But he was no slouch, and immediately put out the word, informing the world that the Rutherford family had no further alliance with Peter with immediate effect.
With the loss of this arm, Rivermist's group, led by the Thorne family, who had been eyeing Peter's estate, immediately moved in.
In a short period of time, White, surrounded on all sides, dropped three straight items.
On this day, when I went to the office to bring Peter his lunch, I passed by the conference room just in time to collide with a man with an angry face.
"No offense ...... is that you?!"
The other party was halfway through his apology when he looked up and saw my face immediately lost his good looks.
This man is none other than Peter's closest partner, Blake.
"What are you doing at the office?"
He had a wary look in his eyes, and his questioning tone was as bad as it could get.
"Can't I come? Peter gave me permission to come."
I looked at him with an innocent expression, unable to hide the self-satisfaction in the end of my words.
Anger bubbled in Blake's eyes, and he stared at me malevolently for a moment before shrugging it off.
The aide following him hurried to catch up.
"I think this guy is completely out of his mind!"
"It's just a double, what's the use of looking alike!"
"He's good! He backed out of a marriage with the Rutherford family for his lover, and now the company is stuck right and left, and he doesn't take it seriously, and then he calls people to the office!"
"Who knows that Peter has a lover he's been thinking about for years, and how many unsuspecting people have tried to take advantage of his weakness to plant eyes around him over the years, and he's found out about all of them, but in the end, it's Wanda who's the one to fall in love with!"
"The timing of this woman's appearance is so coincidental, the North and South are fighting to the death, and she suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and her origins are as wretched as that Nicola's, we should know with our toes that the other party's motives may not be pure!"
"Maybe people have something in mind! Don't get screwed in the end and only then realize your regret!"
Blake was cursing all the way down the hall and at a very high volume, and I wasn't sure if he was trying to curse at me or the people in the office.
I shrugged indifferently, switching to a warm and inviting demeanor as I pushed the door open and walked into the office.
"Peter, I've come to bring you food!"
I pursed my lips into one of his favorite smiles and raised the bento box I was carrying in my hand at him.
At that, the eyes of the man who was tiredly rubbing the corner of his forehead fell on me.
"Nicola ......"
As if he had seen some long lost friend, he shouted out a name in a daze.
The disorientation was only momentary, and by the time I approached him, he had returned to his usual bland demeanor.
It was as if the party had never called out that name.
Trying to control my hands, which couldn't help but shake, I opened the bento box one layer at a time and sat down across from him with my face as normal as I could, serving him his food.
But in my heart, the word "Nicola" had already sent waves of fear through me.
During those days with him, he rarely mentioned Nicola in front of me, but every time he did, it was nothing less than a lynching for me.
Nicola.
Nicola.
Sometimes I call her that, but more often I call her--
Sister.
