Chapter 1
I had been Peter's kept lover for some time, obedient and compliant. But his choosing me as a companion was not just because of that. It was also because I bore a striking resemblance to his deceased lover.
The rich scent of a lady's perfume lingered in the enclosed space of the car.
It was sweet and gentle, identical to the fragrance on me.
I opened the car door, closed it, and leaned over to thank the man in the driver's seat.
"Thank you for bringing me back."
A hint of allure was unavoidable at the slightly low neckline.
The man, with his stern face, glanced at me and seemingly withdrew his gaze calmly, but actually, his grip on the steering wheel tightened instantly.
I caught this subtle movement out of the corner of my eye.
Before he could start the engine, and after I had already walked a few steps away, I suddenly turned back and ran to the car window.
"Wait a moment, Trevor!"
The man seemed not to expect my return and looked at me in surprise.
"I left my lipstick. Can you get it for me?"
Following the direction I pointed, he indeed saw a tube of lipstick stuck in the gap of the central console.
Trevor was a man of few words and reserved. Hearing this, he simply reached over to retrieve the lipstick for me without uttering another word.
Having been Peter's lover for some time, I was quite familiar with the character of his bodyguard and close friend, so I didn't mind his reticence.
As I took the lipstick, my nails, painted with carmine, grazed the back of his hand lightly.
Trevor quickly withdrew his hand.
I didn't pay much attention, twisted open the lipstick cap, and used the car's rearview mirror to touch up my lips.
The beautiful red colored my plump lips, and I looked in the mirror with satisfaction, pursing my lips.
When I parted them, they made a small popping sound.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the man, still gripping the steering wheel, his posture stiff. I pretended not to notice.
"Drive safely."
The playful night wind lifted strands of my hair, and I casually tucked them behind my ear, waving at Trevor.
His deep eyes glanced over me briefly and ignored my caution, starting the engine and turning around to leave.
Amid the fading growl of the car moving away, I relaxed the seductive posture I had maintained from earlier and returned to the apartment Peter had provided for me.
