Sabastian
One year. Twelve months, yet everything has changed. When I came down July last year, things were still the same. Reagan administrating his leadership skills to his father by ruling the school. Lucan still coming to terms with his parents that were never around. Connor Beckley hooked on Asher Mckenzie’s ‘virgin vagina.’ Aiden Hallow manning the kegs with Jace Stone, while Liam watches them, hoping just one day they'll notice that he’s right over there.
And Dainy, my sweet and vicious little spit-fire, still pining over Orniel, not paying attention to what's right in front of her.
A lot can happen in a short time, because I wasn't looking either. My friends have all changed, strangers to me now. Even Liam is hardly recognizable, except he's still following Dainy around. And Dainy, she finally got what she thought she wanted, Reagan.
The bastard must be feeling all smug and shit. He finally got her where HE wanted her. Had a taste of that which others have taunted him with for years.
Only he knows now that the stories were lies. Made up tales, to throw in his face. A silent fuck you Orniel. Reagan has always been a friend, a good friend. But I share something far more than friendship with Dainy, we had a connection when we dated. She felt it. I felt it. We couldn't understand it, because we hated each other so much.
It was dangerous what we brought out between the two of us. I backed off because she was young, I was young, but I'm back now, and it's time Dainy Hallow started paying attention.
The cafeteria is buzzing with the news of Dainy and Orniel. The females already plotting ways to break them up. The guys are pissing themselves because who didn't claim they slept with Dainy? The answer to that is one man, Me.
One might find this hard to believe but I avoid lying. My grandfather told me a time or few that there's nothing more powerful than truth. My grandmother was there at one of those times. She said that it only works when one has the facts. Because what are facts if not secrets.
“Sabastian,” Lucan yells across the cafeteria. Six months ago, that would've had me walking up to him.
Now I just sit right here, staring.
The small smile on my lips increase a little more when he walks the distance.
“Yo man, why didn't you tell me you sitting by your lonesome.”
I stand up and right my blazer closing the buttons. My hand sticks out to shake his. The Delroy ring shining on my left index finger.
Lucan notices it and he's eyes widen a fraction. A spark of jealousy shrouds his eyes. He schools it back in place showing he’s a true friend and says, “Congrats man.”
I take my hand back, locking my fingers behind my back, “Good to see you too Jack.”
The cafeteria starts filling once the bell goes off. Lucan notices my eyes darting behind him, and he gets that fucking glint, the one that always gets us in heaps of trouble.
“Have you seen Dainy?
“That's a loaded question.” I did see Dainy. But she didn't see me.
I don't tell him that though. I catch Reagan and Connor walking toward us.
I watch Reagan and for the first time since I met Reagan in first grade, I want to hurt him. I want to make him pay for taking what is mine.
