Confusion lies within our hearts

Kiara’s POV

I could hear his pleasure, I could feel his hands around me, I could taste his neediness. “Whoever it is, come out now. I command it,” I heard his voice break out. The voice of the most feared man in the park, the voice of the Alpha who shunned me down when I asked if he could feel it too. I gasped from my sleep, pulling away from the continuation of the torture I faced beneath his palm.

“It is just a dream, what happened last night wasn’t real. It wasn’t Ryder, it didn’t happen,” I said to myself repeatedly trying to make believe. I panicked while preparing for today’s work. When I showered, I could still feel his sensation rubbing around me, at the places he held, on my neck where he pressed his lips. A little bruise has formed on that spot, and it is best to cover it up. I wouldn’t want to give an explanation when asked what happened to my neck. What would I possibly say? The Alpha tried making me but couldn’t so he left a bruise instead? That would have my head on a platter in no time. So I applied foundation onto the spot, hiding the secret I wish to keep buried forever, for I can’t be rejected and dead.

I wrapped my hair up into a bun, glanced at myself one last time, and stepped out of my room. I was greeted by the scent of fresh air and there is nothing I could’ve wanted more than that. Walking into the dining quarters, everyone was digging into their meal already.

“Oh here comes the queen herself, the one who rules us all,” Sandra the sassy boss said loudly as I walked in. I chose to ignore her words, “she probably doesn't know what she is saying. She couldn’t have seen the Alpha and I, could she?” I questioned myself as I walked in with my head low and my eyes plastered to the concrete.

I felt a foot matching the hem of my dress, stopping me from moving further in my steps. “I speak to you and what do you think you are about to do? Walk away? Snub me,” she shrieked with her voice breaking out because all she ever does is shout.

“I apologize if I’m late in your books, but breakfast starts at 8am, and this is 8:06,” I said to her. She was taken aback by my response and asked, “Why are you six minutes late then?”

“Remember I have to walk down here on foot and my cottage is quite a distance,” I replied. “Hmm, get going, you little slave. This should never repeat itself,” Sandra said with spite.

I resumed my work in the garden after eating, and I couldn’t have been happier as I worked in silence. There was no signing, there was no shouting, and there was no Sandra yelling in my face. “Kiara, Kiara!! I heard Evie’s voice call out to me. “Madame Agatha would want you to deliver these packs of fruits to the Moonfren Manor”, she continued. “Moonfren Manor?” my eyes tore open in shock. “The same Moonfren Manor the Alpha stays in?” I asked.

“Yes, that very one. Here you go. I should head back to my duties,” Evie said to me, before handing out the carriage, flashed a slight smile, and headed out running back to her previous destination.

Approaching the Manor, I took in its beauty. Flowers greeted me from the very first foot I placed on the walkway till the moment I approached the stairs. I held the fruit packs close to my chest, took a deep breath, and said to myself, “All you have to do is drop this and leave immediately. You don’t have to see him, he couldn’t be around at this time of the day.” I took in a deep breath and walked up the stairs.

The door to the Manor was slightly opened, and I thanked the moon I didn’t have to announce my arrival by hitting the doorbell. The interior of the Manor was dark, all blinds were down, leaving zero to no room for the sunlight to make its way. “I didn’t know he liked it this way,” I said to myself as I soaked into the aesthetics of the Manor.

“Enough of that now. You need to drop this and leave Kiara,” I muttered and stood in search of a table. I found one at the end of the passage and walked towards it. Setting the packs down, I heard his voice. “It is you.” Too scared to turn around, I didn’t move. I then felt his hand pull me sideways and the next thing we were locked inside a place that looked like a library.

“Good morni—,” I wanted to extend my greeting to him but was cut shut by him raising his palm to me.

“There is no need for pleasantries. I will go straight to the point right now. Whatever happened last night was a mistake. I couldn’t believe I kissed my slave,” he said to me.

“Slave?” I questioned. “That’s all I'm to you now? A slave?” I pressed. “All I meant to say was, whatever happened was a great mistake. It shouldn’t have, and I don’t want to hear about it from anyone, if not I’d have your head served to me on a bronze plate,” he said to me with no emotion in his eyes.

“Yes, Alpha. I apologize for trying to question you,” I said to him with my eyes glued to the ground, holding up my tears from running down my face.

“Good, now you can leave,” Alpha Ryder responded.

As I was about to open the door, a push happened at the other end, and there walked in Brandon. “Kiara,” he said.

“Good morning Brandon,” I responded, bowing my head to greet him. He held out the door for me as I walked away. Away from them both who have had my heart beating a million miles per hour.

“I hope he didn’t get to hear the conversation between Ryder and me,” I prayed silently, as I picked up my pace away from the Manor, and back to the garden.
