Chapter 4
His mothers face made way for confusion and uncertainty, as she looked down at the place where our hands were joined. She raised a questioning brow. “Uh...you guys are now together?”
“Yes”
“No”
We both turned to look at each other and I gave him the stink eye, quickly shrugging my hand out of his. He sent me a weird look but I ignored him, turning back to his mother.
“Where is he right now?” I asked, hoping that my voice wouldn't give away the ocean of emotions swirling inside of me.
I had been tricked. Lily had told me that he was sending warriors to drag me back home but obviously, that had been a lie! It's either she had also been played, or teamed up with Marcus to play against me!
She pushed the door wider, letting us in. A knowing smile grew on her face. “He is upstairs in your room, don't keep him waiting,” she ventured with a wink.
I started to move, my heart thundering in my chest as his scent wafted into my nose. I climbed the stairs, my eyes ahead as they lingered on the cracked door. I got to the door, hesitating to push it open as I turned to stare at the blue pair of eyes that were watching me intensely.
“Chloe?” he called, fear showing in those wide, innocent eyes. “Are you leaving with him?”
That was when I heard him. The growl was so low but I could still hear it. My heart raced and that was when I realized how much I had missed that stupid jealous growl, just how much I had missed him and no matter how I tried to deny it, I knew that I couldn't wait to see him.
I gave one last glance at Prosperity and went into the room, shutting the door behind me. My gaze searched the room and they landed on my mate's back. I didn't dare to move towards him.
He was shirtless, standing with his back to me and a bottle of beer in one hand. He didn't turn back to look at me, not even when I cleared my throat to get his attention. He lifted the bottle to his lips and took a swig of the liquor.
“Marcus—” I started, deciding to break the tense silence but the way his black eyes turned to glared at, cut me off.
“Where have you been?”
It came out as a low growl, but I could sense the accusation behind it. I was in no mood for his tantrums, so I shot back. “If you came here to provoke me, then you better leave. I will not answer you!”
“Oh you do!”
I watched as the glass left his hand, collided with the wall and shattered on the floor. Hurried footsteps matched up the stairs and soon, there was a knock on the door.
“Chloe?! Are you alright?!”
I didn't reply, I just kept glaring daggers at Marcus who was doing the same. “Get. Out,” I gritted through clenched teeth as I pointed a finger at the door. “And make sure that you stay gone!”
He advanced towards me and I stood my ground, meeting him eyeball to eyeball. He came to stop in front of me, groaning when Prosperity called out to me again. “Tell that oaf to get lost, before I get my hands on—”
“Chloe! I'm coming in now!”
“—get lost,” Marcus gritted, his boring eyes turning to the now open door where Prosperity stood with panic filled eyes.
I saw Prosperity tremble slightly, as Marcus's deadly eyes continued to scrutinise him. The poor was now shaking like a leaf and I found the need to step in and tear the staring contest apart.
Trying to act as casual as I could, I smacked Marcus's chest with the back of my hand. “Stop glaring at him like that, you are scaring him.” Then I turned to Prosperity, forcing a smile onto my face. “You can leave now, I am alright.”
He gave me an uncertain look, his gaze shifting between me and Marcus. He was hesitant but finally nodded, closing the door behind him.
Marcus scoffed, drawing my attention back to him. “So little boys are more of your type?” He mocked, but I could see the rage and jealousy lingering in his eyes. “Are you fucking him?”
That was when my palm collided with his cheek. I left an imprint on it and when his eyes came back to meet mine, there was satisfaction in them. He looked like he had seen all he had to know in my eyes.
“How dare you—” I started to say, but the rest of my words became history as Marcus locked my lips to his. I resisted his kisses, clenching my teeth to avoid his tongue. But then, he bit down on my lower lip and the second I gasped, his tongue slid into my mouth.
He chuckled into my mouth, as my wolf purred, showing him that we enjoyed the kiss. He fisted my hair in his hand, pulling my hair back as he deepened the kiss, his large hands caressing the swells of my breasts.
My nipples immediately stabbed the air like little knives, while heat rushed from our joint lips, down to the meeting place in between my legs. I tried to move away from the kiss but the hunger in the way his lips claimed mine, couldn't allow me to deny him what he requested. I wasn't also going to lie that I hadn't missed these, missed him.
Finally, our lips detached from each other's, and we just stood there, gazing into each other's eyes. His eyes told me all that his lips couldn't and with the way they watered, I guessed mine had also displayed all of my unspoken emotions.
A chuckle left my lips just as he grabbed my face in between his large palm, joining our foreheads together as if in a silent agreement. “I missed you,” I whispered….
