Chapter 2.

He gave me a suspicious look, his eyes roaming all over my body in a way that I took a couple of steps back. “And why do you want to know that?”

“Just because I want,” I replied with a careless shrug.

“Are you interested in the throne?”

His words spat more venom than I had heard in all of my life. I had no doubt now, I was certain!

“Maybe,” I said, watching how his eyes hardened and his head whipped towards me. He looked like he was about to strangle the life out of me, and I voice myself not to grin at my own mischievous behavior. “Maybe not. But I know I have what it takes, to be queen of the underworld.”

He gulped visibly, his face reddening with anger as every muscle on his face kept straining. He couldn't scare me even if he wanted to and the fresh memory which started to filter into my mind as I stared longer, made me want to rip him to shreds!

“I,” he started in a cold voice, passing me a forced smile which came off as a grimace. “Wouldn’t advice you to do that, it's unwise for a little girl, don't you think sis?”

“I. Am. Not. Your. Sister!”

He looked taken aback by my outburst, and I cursed myself inwardly, not liking that I let my emotions over shadow my reasoning.

“I mean," I started, trying to fix what I had almost ruined. “You weren't there for me when I needed you the most, why act like an older brother now? It's unfair to me...”

He gave me a blank look, his green eyes as lifeless as a log of wood. He stared too long, far to long for my own comfort, but I put up with it and not once did my eyes waver from his.

“You have a point.” He finally looked away from me, continuing in his strides which I followed. “Don’t get too ambitious, don't inspire to know too much. Your mother had her reasons—”

“Our mother,” I hissed in correction.

“—why she erased your memories.” He continued like he hadn't heard my protest. “Don't try to revive them, just take whatever you are handed and be contented with it. Don't get too greedy.”

I scowled, “you are such a dick, I hope you know that?” I spat. “I am ashamed that I share a mother with y—”

“This would be the first and last time I would warn you,” he started in a chilly voice. “That woman was not my mother. She seized being my mother when she left me and decided to have you.” He gave me a disgusted look. “Only seeing how much you look like her, irks me and I do not wish to further be in your presence!”

“Then go! To hell with you, who even needs you by the way?” I fired back. “I requested to see someone else, I wonder what you are doing here by the way, get lost and stay gone! Forever!”

His eyes bored into mine, and I could see the curiosity dancing in them. He arched a brow. “You requested to see who? Somebody else?”

That was when I realized that I had slipped up. Fuck, I cursed inwardly. How could I have let that slip out?

He kept staring at me in expectation, his body tensed and set just about to strike if I said the wrong thing.

“A better version of you,” I finally spoke, the half truth however. “And not this evil person...how can you say such things about mother?”

He gave a little snort. “I see that you are just like her, you never listen to instructions, do you?”

I shook my head I agreement with his claim.

“Well, you had better.”

I cocked one haughty brow at him. “I that a threat I just received?”

“You can call it whatever you want,” he snapped. “This should be the last time you ever talk about taking over the throne and if should one day, your grandfather ever proposed that you should, deny him.”

“And what if I don't?” I challenged, meeting him eye ball to eye ball.

He gave me a promising look, one corner of his lips curving into to sneer. “Then, we shall meet again. This time, there will be no survivors...”

His words hit me like a block of bricks had been dumped on my chest. My eyes widened in confusion, as my heart beat erratically in my chest. Just as my lips parted to ask him the one question that hd left me perplexed, he vanished, leaving the space where he had stood a second ago, empty.

“Argh!” I groaned in frustrating. I pulled at my hair which only made my already throbbing skull ache harder. All the questions I had wanted to ask were left unanswered and now, I had gotten another puzzle to unlock. I looked about the clear parting before me and far into the neighborhood. If I got on their land, I would attract unwanted attention and their Alpha would immediately sense me and return me back to Marcus.

So instead of doing that, I finally replied the question Lily had asked earlier when she had contacted me through the link. She had said she heard what had happened from Marcus, and she asked where I was, begging not to be following any stranger anywhere.

I couldn't reply her then because I was busy talking to my brother. I connected her back through the link: I am in the middle of nowhere, I don't know where to go and by the way, my evil brother left without me.

I waited for her to get back to me and she did in less than a minute. Then come back home, please. Stop acting like a child! You need to see Marcus, he is lost without you!

I sighed, wondering how the lost one hadn't even bothered to contact me yet. I thought on telling her that I didn't leave because I wanted to, I only left because I wanted Marcus to finally realized my worth, but I didn't. Instead, I asked her to help me with a place to stay and she gave me directions to her parents house, where her mother lived with her younger brother.

I huffed. “Here we go again, boom!” I vanished, leaving no trace of me but my lingering scent…
