Chapter 1: Pregnant, and His First Love Returns

I am the first Luna in history without a wolf! And my sister, as it turns out, is my husband's first love! On the very day I found out I was pregnant, she came back into his life after her divorce…

Summer Jordan POV:

“Congratulations, Luna. You’re pregnant.” the doctor at the pack hospital said with a smile as she handed me the test results.

I stood frozen, overwhelmed by the unexpected news.

I had been married to Grant Whitaker for six years. He was not only the Alpha of Thornfang Pack but also a nobleman in the Ironmaw Kingdom. We already had a five-year-old son, and though he had been unpredictable enough to me throughout all these years, warm one moment, cold the next, I loved him deeply. I had always dreamed of having another child with him. Now, dream came true, and I was carrying his pup.

Instinctively, I placed a hand on my abdomen, warmth spreading through me as I thought of the little life growing inside me—a child that belonged to me and Grant Whitaker.

Today was our sixth wedding anniversary! Clutching the test results tightly, I couldn’t wait to surprise him with the news, a gift to mark such a special day.

But as I pulled out my phone to call for a ride back to the Pack house, a notification popped up on the screen. It was a social media post from my sister, Serena Jordan.

“My dearest Alpha picked me up from the airport, carried my luggage, and even brought me a gift! I feel so spoiled! I love both of them actually, the gift and the man...”

The attached photo showed a man’s broad back as he carried a suitcase. Even from behind, his tall, imposing figure was unmistakable. Beside him stood Serena, her head tilted slightly, her elegant neck adorned with a dazzling blue diamond necklace that caught the sunlight, highlighting her radiant beauty.

Even without seeing his face, I recognized him instantly.

It was Grant Whitaker.

My husband.

In that moment, it felt like some cold water had been poured over me, freezing me to my core.

And that necklace… It was the same one Grant had purchased at an auction last month, a piece he had told me he would gift to me on our anniversary. Yet now, it hung around my sister’s neck.

My chest tightened painfully, my breathing grew shallow, and my trembling fingers barely managed to hold onto the phone.

Why her?

I bit my lip hard, willing myself not to break down as memories of the past came flooding back.

Both Serena and I were daughters of the Moonscar Pack’s Beta family. But while Serena had always been the family’s pride, I was its disgrace. She was intelligent, beautiful, and gifted—a shifter with incredible abilities who became the pack’s first female Beta and an online influencer with countless admirers.

And me? I was born wolfless. Weak. Unable to shift. A perpetual disappointment to my family, whose eyes always held disdain whenever they looked at me.

Though we were sisters, I had always lived in her shadow, overshadowed by her brilliance, her charm. Even in matters of love, I was no match for her.

Years ago, Serena was already Grant’s first love. They had only parted because Grant’s grandfather, the old Alpha King, disapproved of her and deemed her unfit to be Luna. Afterward, she married a small-pack Alpha. Their marriage was short-lived and unhappy, ending in divorce just last month. And now, she had come back, resplendent as ever.

For years, I had been grateful to be Grant’s wife, thankful that he had chosen me despite the questions and criticisms surrounding his decision. But now I saw the truth. Perhaps I was nothing more than a stand-in, a shadow he could discard at any time.

Serena, with just a smile, could have him wrapped around her finger.

I stared at the necklace in the photo, my eyes burning with unshed tears. So this was his anniversary surprise?

Numbly, I tucked my phone back into my pocket and staggered out of the hospital. The joy of my pregnancy was drowned beneath a suffocating wave of betrayal.

I bit my lip so hard that it bled, but it wasn’t enough to stop the tears from spilling. Each step I took back to the Pack house felt heavier than the last. I must have looked pitiful, stumbling through the streets with tear-streaked cheeks.

The sky was overcast when I finally arrived. Parked at the driveway was a sleek black car I recognized immediately.

The car door opened just as I approached. Grant stepped out, his tall, commanding figure framed by the soft light. He bent down to retrieve a suitcase from the trunk before turning to the passenger side to offer his hand.

Serena emerged, her high heels clicking against the pavement as she stepped out gracefully. She smiled brightly, throwing her arms around Grant’s waist in an intimate gesture.

“You’re so busy, yet you came to pick me up yourself,” she said with a coquettish laugh, her arms tightening around him.

“You’re back. Of course, I had to go,” Grant replied, his voice gentle, making no move to push her away.

I froze in place, my palms turning icy cold. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and for a moment, I thought I might collapse.

Their laughter rang in my ears, each sound like a dagger to my heart. The next moment, both of them looked up, their gazes locking with mine.

Grant’s expression faltered briefly before he composed himself. “Summer? Why are you standing there? Come inside,” he said, his tone calm and unbothered.

Serena greeted me with a smile, her fingers lightly brushing over the Blue Diamond Necklace as if to flaunt it. Her eyes carried a faint hint of provocation. “Summer, long time no see. I’m back.”

The necklace sparkled brightly, its brilliance piercing my eyes like shards of glass.

I forced myself to move forward, though each step felt like trudging through quicksand. My ears buzzed, my chest felt constricted, and at some point, my trembling fingers released their grip on the pregnancy report. It fluttered to the ground.

“What’s this?” Grant glanced down, bending to pick it up.

Snapping out of my daze, I thought of the child growing within me. Swallowing the bitter lump in my throat, I struggled to keep my voice steady. “Grant, today is our wedding anniversary. I wanted to surprise you. Actually, I…”
