Save the Alpha

"I don't want to return; I want to be here. The pack people won't care if I'm in the pack or not," Seraphina muttered, her hazel eyes staring straight ahead.

'Sera, what are you thinking! You have to go back. Wake up, there's still Luna Freya and Alpha Evan!' Lysandra re-mindlinked Seraphina.

"They'll be grateful if I leave. Shut up, let me calm down here!" raged Seraphina.

Silence. Lysandra had stopped talking. She would rather appear if Sera wanted her to.

Ahead stretched a beautiful lake with greenish-colored but clear water. Around it, various kinds of wild plants grew magically. They sparkled like crystals. Only he could find this hidden place. Somehow, she even remembered taking Evander to the lake when she was 11.

The hazel eyes kept scanning the surroundings. It was still the same as the last time she had been there. Seraphina never imagined her departure with Evander back then would be a night the entire pack would never forget—the beginning of Evander's hatred for her.

Seraphina's memories drifted back several years in the silence around the lake. It all started when Seraphina was 11 years old. There was a sudden, massive attack on the Aurora Guardians pack. Many of the residents were victims, even her parents, and the previous Alpha Niamh Silverhowl-Alpha.

Since then, the entire pack has blamed Seraphina for the deaths of Alpha Niamh and her parents. Seraphina's father was a Beta in the pack Alpha Niamh led. Everyone in the pack thought they died trying to protect me from a rogue attack, but only Luna Freya had never thought of it that way.

Seraphina could have chosen to leave the pack, but she still wanted to stay. Luna Freya's support always strengthened her. This Salama, Alpha Evander's biological mother, was the one who considered her a child.

"Beta Tristan, I miss you," Seraphina murmured. "Why did you just disappear? Please come back and strengthen me." Another sob sounded as Seraphina's tears began to stream down her cheeks.

SREK

Seraphina immediately stopped her crying. She immediately turned to the bushes behind her. Spontaneously, she looked down and picked up a piece of wood lying nearby. Her heart was pounding as she slowly approached the bushes. Her mind was in turmoil. She was really scared.

"What if it's a rogue?" she murmured tongue-tied. Her hands were trembling. The image of the unfortunate night's events returned to her head.

BRUAK

"What is it?" Seraphina's body instantly froze. She heard something fall. She reflexively closed her eyes out of fear. "Is today the end of my life?"

'Fool! Open your eyes and think positively Sera! Then you'll find the answer!' Lysandra mindlinked Seraphina.

'I can't fight; come to my senses! Running is useless because we'll still die,' Seraphina retorted.

'Stop that silly death talk, Sera!

"Okay, this time, you're right," Seraphina said. She began to open her eyes. She resumed her steps and broke through the bushes in front of her, and this time, the woman was completely shocked by the figure she saw—a werewolf whose fur was a lustrous gray lay covered in blood. The werewolf instantly transformed into its human form.

The log Seraphina was holding slid out of her hand. Her fear instantly disappeared. She ran straight towards the figure. Sera didn't know what was happening with the Alpha before her, but she saw that the injuries were too severe.

Sera spontaneously cast her gaze around her, looking for something to use. The woman saw some plants that could be used to treat her. Without thinking, she immediately took some leaves according to what she needed. She didn't know the plant's name, but Sera still remembered that if her father was injured, her mother always made a concoction of the leaves to treat the wound.

After getting some leaves, Sera immediately pounded the leaves using any object. Afterward, she gently applied it to the man's wound. The sound of crying sounded heartbreaking; the man's body also writhed as if responding to the reaction of the leaves.

"Hang in there; maybe the pain will be short-lived," Sera said softly.

Sera returned her attention to the figure in front of her. It seemed like the man was not an ordinary werewolf because, judging from his body size, it was bigger than other werewolves. Sera could also feel the werewolf's aura, which was different. It looked like he was an Alpha, but she needed to know which pack he belonged to.

"It's done." Seraphina looked at the man, and he looked at her. The look in his blue eyes was soothing. Sharp, but not threatening. His dark brown hair looked messy; perhaps he had just fought with a rogue or enemy.

Now, Seraphina looked confused herself. She couldn't possibly leave the man there alone.

"Thank you," he said, sounding sincere.

"You're welcome," Sera replied. "Your wound looks bad and should be treated immediately. The potion I made probably won't be enough to heal you."

"Don't worry; I've already mind-linked Betaku. She's on her way here. I'm feeling better, too. What's your name?"

"Seraphina Blackfang."

"Very pretty," the man said with a deep gaze. "I meant your beautiful name." The man immediately corrected his words and looked stunned. Sera chuckled amusedly at the man's behavior.

The sound of someone shouting instantly broke the silence of the hidden lake. Sera and the man turn their heads together at the figure of the man who seemed to be approaching hurriedly.

"Oh my, Alpha Kael! Are you okay?"

Thank goodness, Seraphina thought. Now, she could leave the man behind. It turned out to be true if the man was Alpha.

"I hope you wear this dress to Alpha Evan's birthday party. I can't imagine how beautiful you'll look in this dress, darling." Luna Freya presented a white box with a red strap. However, Sera just stared at it. No, it was not that she did not like the gift, but she was very afraid that Luna would be disappointed with her and Evan's relationship.

Luna Freya already knew that the princess disliked Seraphina. She knew the rest of the pack disliked her, but not Luna Freya, who had always pinned her hopes on Sera.

"I'm sorry for the way Evan treated you. Please, don't give up on him. Especially since you will soon be paired up and leading the pack." Luna Freya smiled warmly at Sera.

Sera's eyes began to glaze over. She did not expect Luna Freya to love her so much and even consider her as her child, even though the mate she loved and was proud of considered her a killer and liked to torture her.

Sera returned Luna Freya's hug. Her body seemed tired, and she needed the embrace of someone who could strengthen her. She sobbed softly in Luna's embrace.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" The cold and flat voice made Sera and Luna Freya's embrace unravel.

Sera's heart was about to burst as she stared at Evander's scary face in the doorway.

"When did you come, and why didn't you meet me immediately? Mom would rather meet that murderous bitch than me?" Evan's voice sounded full of emphasis, and they glanced sarcastically at Sera. She made the girl instantly look down, not daring to look at the Alpha's face.

"Evan, come hug mommy first," Luna pleaded with her son.

Evander softened and walked over to his mother. Even as he began to walk, that cold, frightening stare didn't stop Sera from being scared. Evan immediately hugged Luna Freya.

Luna Freya patted the back of her grown son, who was about to celebrate his 28th birthday. After a few seconds, Luna broke the hug.

"Mom is lazy to see you because that bitch is always clinging to you," Luna Freya said, sounding soft but emphatic. It made Evan's forehead instantly crease in annoyance.

"Mom, she's my lover whom I love very much. Not the way and Elara is the future Luna Aurora Guardians Pack!" Evan looked at his mother unhappily.

Meanwhile, Sera, still between them, suddenly looked up in shock. Her eyes were red with a rush of breath. It was as if a large hammer had hit her chest. A drop of tears escaped from both eyes.

PLAK!

The slapping sound was so loud that it startled Seraphina. She suddenly felt guilty. Sera looked confused and didn't know what to do now.

"Shut your mouth, Evan! It's rude of you to talk like that in front of your own eyes!" Freya's Luna tone voice sounded stern.

"SHE'S NOT MY EYE BUT SHE'S A KILLER!" Evan shouted while turning his back on Luna Freya. A flash of anger was depicted on his face.

Evan was a strong Alpha. His enemies would never survive if he caught them. There were only two options: disfigurement or a severed head.

Seraphina was visibly shaking. Her tongue was hanging out, and her head was filled with fear. Not only that, but what was more terrifying was the pain in her chest with Evan's words.

Evan turned his body back and looked at Luna Freya. Meanwhile, Luna looked at Evan with disappointment.

"I don't want it, Mom. Please understand."

It hurt. Very painful. Seraphina covered her ears tightly. She was hoping not to hear Evan's words. However, the words were already spinning in her head. It felt like Seraphina's heart wasn't forming anymore.

Seraphina really couldn't listen anymore. She dashed out of Luna Freya's room. Her cries were loud as Evan's cruel words continued to swirl around in her head.

"I'm not a murderer!" sobbed Seraphina as she ran.

"Why did he never believe me."

"Why did he choose Elara out of all the women in the Pack."
