Chapter 6: Telling The Truth To Ace

He had a satisfied smile on his face.

“I knew my teachings would not fail,” Clark had an approved smile on his face.

“Wait, what about me?” Melanie chirped in with a feigned annoyed look.

“You have also taught me well,” Mabel laughed at her mom's attitude.

*Five days later*

It's been two days since Mabel had been reborn, and she had not met with Alex, nor Ivy. Instead, she had been going on dates with Ace who decided to spoil her.

The two families decided on a date for the wedding. Since both of them had decided to get married, they released the information a day ago.

The news caused quite a stir. Everyone was well aware of the fact that Mabel was getting married to Alex, so the news of her getting married to Ace came as a surprise.

Alex soon got wind of the news, and when he read the article, he was furious.

“How dare she?” He yelled in his little condo as he trashed the entire room.

“How dare she get married to my enemy? My stepbrother, how could she?” He questioned, ruffling his hair in annoyance.

It didn't help that he had not been able to see her after she called off their wedding. It has just been five days, but now, there was news of her wedding, and that too, with his brother. He was irate.

Meanwhile, Mabel had a lunch date with Ace. They were in the most expensive restaurant in town, it was funded by Ace.

They chose a booth, for privacy. Their wedding announcement caused quite a stir, and the Press has been trying to get pictures of both of them.

“Miss Mabel,” Ace started.

“Mabel,” Mabel immediately corrected him.

He raised his eyebrows confused.

“Since we are getting married, it is only right that we address each other more intimately, we cannot let the Press find out that this is a marriage of convenience,” Mabel explained to him without looking up, conveniently cutting her steak.

Ace stared at the little lady who decided to act tough, and he chuckled.

“Alright then, Mabel, I have been curious, I want to know why you decided to call off your wedding with my brother, and decided to get married,” Ace was not convinced with her earlier story.

He wanted to know what she had gone through. It felt like she had a story to tell.

Mabel stiffened a bit when she heard his question. She was aware that he did not believe her 'dream' story, but she did not know he was going to push it.

“I already told you about the dream….”

“I do not believe the dream story, I have always believed in facts,” Ace caught her off immediately, which prompted her to gulp down nothing.

“Fine, what do you want me to tell you?” Mabel dropped her cutlery as she stared straight into his eyes.

“The truth,” Ace demanded.

“Fine, you want the truth, this is the truth, " Mabel sighed as she explained to him everything which had happened in her previous life.

As Ace listened to her, his blood boiled. But then, he was surprised by his actions. He cleared his throat awkwardly, he had no idea he was that desperate to make such a deal with his brother.

But then, his moment of awkwardness was replaced by anger when Mabel was done with her story.

“That's the truth, they brutally killed me, my baby was killed also, I begged them to let me go, but they didn't, they decided to end me, they felt I was an obstacle in their path, and they decided to clear that obstacle,” Mabel cried.

Up to this point, she still felt devastated thinking about what she went through in her past life. She still had nightmares, so much so she begged her sister to sleep with her as she could not stay alone.

All of a sudden, she jolted when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

“You do not need to be scared,” it was Ace.

“I am here for you, they are going to get what is coming for them, I will help you in your revenge, if you will let me,” he squatted beside her, and looked up to her.

“Will you really help me?” She asked, staring at him through her wet eyelids.

“I will, those two are scums, and scums need to be eradicated from the face of the earth,” he said to her, and she chuckled.

“I am also confused about one thing, why did you decide to make such a deal with your brother in my previous life? I know you might not have experienced such, but I am curious, if I had made the same mistake in this life, would you have done the same thing?”

Mabel looked at his face for any signs of awkwardness. She had doubts, but she would rather not work on doubts. She needed facts. In this aspect, they were basically alike.

“You do not need to know, it is a story for another day, you only need to know that I am here for you,” he said to her, unwilling to give a response to her question.

Mabel frowned but she did not push it. If he was not ready to tell her, then she would not force him.

She had a lifetime to figure out what he was hiding from her.

“Here, you need to wipe your tears, it is not time for tears, but you have to think of how you want to make your enemies suffer, and you have just accomplished the first step,” Ace stood up as he handed her a handkerchief.

“What was the first step?” She asked, while she watched him take his seat.

“By deciding to get married to me, I am my brother's biggest rival after all, getting married to me after you called off your wedding with him would bruise his ego immensely,” Ace winked at her, and she chuckled, understanding what he meant immediately.

*Alex's Apartment*

Ivy stepped into the apartment, heaving a sigh. The news has gained a lot of traction already. She wondered how Alex must be feeling.

When she saw the news, she was also surprised. She would never have expected for Mabel to make such a considerable decision, but deep within her, she was excited.

It meant that Alex would no longer hover around her. Just thinking about that possibility caused a smile to form on her lips.

As she made her way to his room, she hummed in satisfaction.

But as soon as she got there, she heard noises. Her brows subconsciously shot up hearing the noises.

She pinched the bridge of her nose, already making out what condition the room would be in. She was used to his temper, and Mabel's decision must have bruised his ego immensely, causing him to go on a rampage.

Not only that, but she breathed out, before walking into the bedroom. Likewise, she only hoped he didn't transfer his aggression towards her because she would not be able to take it.

As she walked into the bedroom, her eyes widened like saucers seeing the mess in the room. She looked towards the culprit, and she could not make out words, she was at a loss for words.

The room was a mess, broken glass was shattered and scattered all over the room, which left Ivy speechless.

“How did it come to do this?” She asked breathlessly.
