A glass of wine
Sophie's pov
The loud sound of music echoed in my ear and the club lights kept reflecting in my direction, but all that mattered to me was having fun that night and for once, forgetting I existed in a crazy world.
"A glass of whiskey please," I said to the bartender and rested my elbows on the counter.
I need to be drunk. They say alcohol helps, and I need that help at that moment. When I thought everything was falling into place, it was ruined before it even started.
I rolled my neck with my eyes shut, and I never noticed when she sat beside me.
"Here you go, ma'am." The voice of the bartender forced my eyes open but before I could pick the glass up, she snatched it away and replaced it with a glass of apple drink with little alcohol.
"C'mon sis, we aren't here to get drunk. We are here to have fun and you want to ruin it? You have a date with Daniel tomorrow. You need to be lightheaded."
Right, I need to be light-headed and not get my planned date ruined with a hangover.
I picked up the drink she offered and took a sip from it. "I apologize. I just needed something to clear my head off my work." I moved my hand across my face and sighed deeply. "So many things are happening right now and they are so much for me. Why should my life be this miserable?" I questioned and batted my lashes, trying to blink my tears away.
Juliet pushed closer and placed her hand on my shoulder, "That's why you need to get happy tonight. Just watch everything and let's have fun. Go ahead, allow the drink to sink in."
I picked up the glass of juice and took a gulp. It tasted good. Juliet is the only sister and friend I had. I lost my mother at birth and my father got married to another woman who has been the best mother I could ever ask for. I am ready to do anything for this family of mine.
My boss, Ethan Wensworth, has decided to make my life a living nightmare. He doesn't find anything I do worthy, even though I am his fiance's sister. He always finds a way to make my day terrible and recently, he threw my project, which I spent many sleeplessness working on, away. I mean, it was perfect and every other person testified. He just wasn't satisfied.
I emptied the glass and pushed my head back as a smile registered on my lips. I don't know if it's because of the drink or a sudden spell, but I felt so lightheaded. Like everything in the world doesn't matter.
I was in a different world and not walking, but flying. I was in a world of my own. I laughed and shut my eyes.
"I love this feeling. I suddenly feel so good, Juliet." I laughed and spread my arms out.
"What are you talking about? What is happening to you, Sophie?" I heard Juliet's voice but it seemed distant. No right words for an answer were formed in my head. I wanted to say something but laughed instead.
"This drink had a little alcohol. I shouldn't have told the bartender to mix a booze with it. I forgot how intolerant you are." I heard her say again, but her voice was coming from different directions and I couldn't tell where she was.
I felt her hold my hand tight, "I need to take you to a room." She said again and led me to who knows where.
She opened the door and led me in. "Go sit down Sophie. I need to get our bags and call a cab. The inside is noisy right now. Please do not leave. I will be back, I promise." She said and left, locking the door.
I am all alone. I don't know what to feel about that, but I needed to do something. I felt as though I was in the middle of an ocean, walking on the surface of the water. I feel so free.
I staggered to the bed and made to sit, but I fell on a body. The lights came on immediately. I forced my heavy eyes open and raised my brow. Beneath me was a man, staring at me with open eyes.
Not just any man cause I recognized him immediately. It was Ethan Wensworth. I gasped and pushed my face away from getting close to his. Ethan Wensworth, Juliet's fiance and my boss at work. What was he doing in the room anyway? Did he suddenly appear? Was he a ghost?
"Juliet?" He questioned and laughed, his voice came out like someone who had too many drinks. "What are you doing here?"
I should have gotten away from him, but there I was, still lying to him. "You evil boss, we meet again." I couldn't control my words. I let them out freely, not bothered about the consequences.
He laughed out and wrapped his arm around my waist, bringing my body closer to his. I should push him away. That's my sister's fiance. My brain kept screaming at me, but I shut the voice down. I could feel in-between my legs getting soaked and I guess, he had the same feeling as mine. I could feel a bulge pressing into my stomach.
This is bad!
"Should we stop? I don't know what is wrong with me right now, but I won't be able to stop myself." He whispered into my ear and kissed my earlobe. I shook my head, giving him the go-ahead to do as he pleased.
He drew closer to me and placed his hand on my butt cheeks, giving it a gentle squeeze. He is my boss and my sister's fiance. What am I doing? Juliet would be back up in no seconds. I would be dead if she caught me with him. I need to go away. I need to force myself away from him.
"Juliet-" I tried to call out, but I wasn't sure my voice was loud enough to his hearing. We will both regret this in a few minutes or when we wake up in the morning after we see the hurt look on Juliet's face.
She was on her way back to the room. I can feel it. Ethan suddenly pushed me to my back on the bed and laid on top of me. He kissed my neck and whispered into my ear. "Now there is no coming back."
