Five.
Angel POV.
I obeyed and stayed inside, I wasn't one to go out looking for troubles, I didn't want any troubles, I was good staying at home really, but I also was keeping up with the news, I was listening to William over and over again, I'm waiting for their next announcement, to see what they're up to.
On the other side, there were some people who decided to riot, they were all over the streets, even the one near home if I looked up from the window I could see them out, they had guns and they wanted to take over, it's vampires, what are they fighting over?
"Humans, you're acting like spoiled children, please, this is the last time we announce anything calmly, get back home, now," William ordered us, but I was home, that didn't include me, I got another bowl of cereal ready as my dinner, I wasn't in the mood to cook anything.
My phone rang and I looked at it, it's another announcement that sounded more of a threat this time, they were done warning, and they had moved to threatening and announcing a war, they had declared it.
'Go back home or die,' the message says, wow that's not aggressive at all, I say to myself with an eye roll, but I'm home, and I plan on staying home. I opened my social media next, and I checked what people were saying, there are a lot of rebels, but what are they up and about? Do they want to start another war? There aren't enough humans to start another war, but that wasn't the only thing that I found on social media today, there are some other accounts that are starting to pop off, people who are claiming to be the vampires, they all left nice comment saying this was for the best of the humans, that they'd take good care of the world, and that we'll have a good life together.
I watched some videos of the humans on the street, the rebels and then I saw the vampires attacking, they didn't need to use guns, they were much stronger than the humans and they killed them easily, they said death to all rebels and they managed to do it, there were massacres, with the random statistics that were circulating online, ninety per cent of the original human population was dead, what's left the other ten per cent, four per cent was vampires, six per cent was humans.
Of those seven, three were rebels and most of them are dead by now, which left only three per cent of the humans, the vampires win by the pure amount, and by their strength, which means we're damned. I wasn't sure if those numbers were correct or not, but maybe, who knows, after three days, my food was almost over and I had to go shopping, but the order of staying inside was still going.
"Good evening everyone, this is your favourite reporter, William, some might say I'm your only current report, but who's counting," William says with a chuckle, he's cute when he smiles, I think I'm crushing badly on him, and I know I'm not the only one, there's a full hashtag about William.
"I'm happy to report that most of the rebels are dead," he says happily and I felt sorry for all the humans that have died, poor humans, we're already short on humans and now some of us are dead, most of us are dead.
"I'm sorry for all the loss the humanity had to suffer again, but most of them had to die, they had to be gone for the rest of us to live a happy and good life," William says, he felt so firm and so confident, he got most of us believing him.
"Now, please, dear humans, the ones that have obeyed us, the ones that we are proud to start a new life with, it's time to come out of your hiding," he says, but go out where? I want to stay home.
"Yes, I know it's very scary to come out, it's very worrying to leave the comfort of our homes," William says, he knew how everyone was feeling without even saying so.
"Now for the one who's left, we know you, we have your numbers, but no need to be scared, we got you. A message is going to be sent to your phone along with your name, number and timing, when you receive that message get ready, we're going to come and get you. I know a lot of you know how to drive, or maybe you're used to walking or even taking public buses, but for this thing specifically, I'm going to request all of you to wait for the buses, one that we're going to send your way, and once on the bus, you're going to be safe," William explains, but I'm still worried, I didn't want to obey.
"If you decide on not coming, if you decided to play hard to get, then we'd come and get you, there's two chances then, you'd be dragged screaming and crying, or you'd be executed for rebelling, but my advice is taking the bus, it's not that scary, you're going to be brought over to here, and you'd get to meet me, along with others," he says with a big smile, and for him, I'd walk over, I don't care, for his smile, I'd do anything.
"What and why you're coming? Those are the next two big questions, right?" William says and he's right, I'm just going there for him, but if he could tell us some more explanation that would be great.
"You're coming for the future to begin, once you're here you're going to be asked some questions, nothing too dangerous, we want to get to know you, don't you want to get to know me," William says, I bet everyone wants to get to know him.
"After the questionnaire is over after we finish asking you everything from your favourite food to your favourite colour and your dreams for the next ten years when we're done, you'd be given a hot meal, and then get ready to go back to the bus and finally you'd be back home before the day ends," he says happily, so that's it? Are we just going to be asked questions? Why can't they just ask us that at home, this could be an email, but sure whatever William says.
"That's all, I'd see you tomorrow, yours truly, William," he says and the report is over, and as before it was put on repeat, with the big headlines written at the bottom of the screen, I watched it again to make sure I got everything and then my phone rang.
'Angel Smith, age twenty-three. Ten AM,' the message said he was right, they got my name and age, and they gave me a time, tomorrow at ten am, I'm going to be ready, and my heart is beating like crazy, I'm very excited, I this was the craziest thing that has ever happened to me, what's the worse thing? I'd die, but death isn't too bad.
I got my clothes ready for tomorrow, I picked jeans and a shirt, along with my shoes, I didn't wear my work clothes for a change, and then I decided to go and take a shower, wash my hair and clean it, if William sees me, I want to look cute, I don't get why but I felt the urge to do so.
I couldn't sleep that night, I couldn't wait for tomorrow, I flipped in my bed a million times, and I checked social media, a lot of people were excited about tomorrow, maybe it was a mass Stockholm syndrome, but we're all too happy about that and none of us wanted to wake up from it.
I managed to get a couple of hours of sleep and when I woke up, I was worried and looked at my phone to check the time, it's just nine am, so I got time to get up and get ready before the bus made it over here.
I went toward the bathroom and got ready, washing my face, and brushing my teeth and hair, I put on the clothes I had decided on and then I went out of the house, taking my phone and keys along with me, I went downstairs and right on time came the bus, it's not like the school bus, it's the public one, but it looked clean for once.
The driver opened the door and said my name when I said yes that's me, he allowed me in telling me where to sit, I took my place next to another girl who looked like she had taken hours doing her makeup this morning.
"Well at least some of us have tried to look decent for William," she says in a mean voice before turning her face the other way, and I ignored the mean comment, everyone was silent, no one dared to talk as the bus took us toward one of the abandoned cities, we went through the first gate, we saw broken down buildings and death, then it stood tall and proud a building that must be new, it's giant, looked to be bigger than the most building we have now, the bus stopped near the door where other people were ready to welcome us in.
