CHAPTER 1

EVOLET

“You are going nowhere near that mansion! That place isn’t for Omega’s like ourselves,” my mother said, denying me the chance to join my mates at the Alpha’s home.

But she’s failing to see the opportunity that lies before us here.

Two days ago, Queen Chriselda, mother of our ruler, Alpha Allen, made a public announcement, inviting all the damsels of WOLF FALL PACK to the mansion, to take part in a LUNA HUNT for her son.

Since that day, every maiden have been rushing down to the mansion to shoot their shot, knowing the benefit that lies in that title called LUNA, if Alpha Allen picks one of them.

And with full confidence, I know if I should take part in this hunt, I have a high chance of being the Alpha’s Luna, and saving my mother and I from the poverty we live in.

But my mother… She doesn’t seem to have any fate in me.

She’s different from other mother’s that are pushing their daughters to the mansion. She has chosen to hold me down, so I won’t join.

I ... I don’t know why she’s doing this to me.

“The Alpha isn’t the only man in this world. When it’s time, I’ll get you a suitor that fits our class,” she said, walking into the kitchen with no care at all.

I felt hurt hearing this from her mouth.

Class! Is this where she wants us to remain forever? A family of poor omegas with no reputation at all?

Upset, I voiced out at once to my mother, “The Alpha may not be the only man in this world, but he’s the ruler in search of a wife. This is something that other omegas know, Mom! They… they heard the Queen’s notice, that’s why they are sending their daughters to the… ”

“Are you questioning my decision?!” Mom interrupted, turning around to face me with a glare.

When I saw those raging eyes, my whole body shivered, reminding myself who was before me.

“Are you saying your mother is stupid and doesn’t know what is right for her child?! Is that what you’re saying, Evolet?!” she roared, drawing closer.

In fear, I lowered my head down and said, “No, Mom. I… I didn’t mean it that way. I was just…”

“You know nothing, Girl!” she silenced me before I could finish my statement. “I am your mother and I know what’s best for my child,” she said.

Her tone left me shaking in my spot. I carefully reached for my black necklace around my neck, holding it close while praying to the goddess to take this storm away.

That’s when Mom sighed out, placing her hands on my shoulders, causing me to lift my head to face her.

She was calm, but in her eyes, I could tell she wasn’t done. “My girl, you are nothing like the others. They might be Omegas like us, but they have something that can help them in this Luna hunt, and it’s something you don’t possess. A wolf. You are wolfless and weak. ”

Ouch. What a nice way to ruin my hopes.

“Have you forgotten that you can’t summon or even feel your wolf? What if the Queen throws that question at you during the game? What will you tell her?” Mom questioned, crossing her arms.

Though I felt sad with her words, still I gave her a response, “I know it’s taking long for me to unleash my wolf, but that doesn’t me I can’t feel it. I know I have a wolf inside.”

“Quit deceiving yourself and take out that thought of being in the hunt. You aren’t fit and will never be. It’s best you accept it,” she scoffed, turning her back once again.

My heart sank with bitterness on hearing my mother. She’s always like this. She never supports my dreams, but downgrades me for being wolfless.

As I drew my steps back from her, she said, “I’ve told you, Eve. Don’t go against me and join the game. You don’t belong there.”

“Yes, mother, “ I said with a broken heart, exiting the kitchen with my eyes welling with tears.

.

“That’s harsh. She shouldn’t have said that,” Fiona, my only friend, commented on what I told her.

I had left the house to see my best friend, who was waiting for me under a tree at the center of the park. As we strolled, I told her what went down with mom and I, and it made her upset.

She didn’t like what my mother had said and tried to comfort me. But as we kept on talking, Fiona suddenly took my Mom’s side. “You know she’s right. How will you feel when Queen Chriselda asks if you have a wolf? She will humiliate you before all.”

“Fiona, I’ve told you already. I can feel my wolf inside of me.”

“And if she says prove it, what will you do?” she lifted her brow, leaving me silence.

“It’s best you listen to your Mom, Eve. She’s looking out for you. I know things are really hard for you guys. Maybe it’s best if…” she directed her hand to my necklace with a smile and said, “You know… sell some things for cash? I don’t mind buying this necklace from you.”

“No way,” I refused, slapping her hand off it. “ I’m not selling this. You know how precious it is to me.”

“Yeah, Yeah, I know,” she giggled, pulling me along, as we strolled off, arriving outside the large gate of the Alpha’s home, watching different ladies of our age, trooping in like crazy.

“Bleh! Thank the goddess I have no interest in the Alpha. I have better things to do with my life,” Fiona bragged, telling me how she stopped her mother from forcing her to join the hunt.

I felt a bit envious of her courage, but sad I was nothing like her. And it’s all because of that night at a fancy party Fiona snuck me into some weeks ago.

We were being wild and found ourselves running away from the bodyguards, only to get separated by accident.

I ended up hiding in a room where I met him, Alpha Allen, all alone at the balcony, looking out to the sky.

He noticed my presence and stopped me from leaving when I got scared on seeing him.

I still remember how he held me close and spoke softly, admiring my beauty with desire in his eyes. “ You’re beautiful. If I had a diamond ring right now, it would be around your finger.”

I was moved by this side of the Alpha, who went as far as stealing my heart with a kiss, leaving me craving for his touch every blessed day and night.

But that moment didn’t last, because I ran off, unable to contain the heat. And ever since he gave me my first kiss, I’ve been lost in love, wishing I never ran away that night.

“This hunt… I know he planned this to search for me. I need to take part no matter what,” I said from within, recalling the passionate moment I had with the Alpha.

Ignoring Fiona’s advise, I told my friend I was going to join the hunt and become the Luna. “I have made up my mind.”

There was a sudden pause from Fiona, who stared at me for a brief moment, before smiling.

“As you wish,” she said, pulling me close for a hug, and assuring me of her support. “Know I’ll always be by your side.”

“Thank you, Fiona,” I appreciated, squeezing her close.

That’s when my eyes caught sight of a young muscular man in black, leaning close to the mansion gate, watching Fiona and I.

The way he stared was kind of weird. It made me wonder if Fiona had something on her back, or if the black hair fellow was just being a perv, gawking at her butt.

But I realized I was wrong when this perv winked at me with a smirk, leaving me stunned!

He’s looking at me?

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Fiona asked, breaking the hug. “Is everything okay?”

Just when I was about to tell her about the debauch fellow, he was gone. It was as if he vanished, because I didn’t see when he moved.

“It’s nothing,” I lied, not bothering to tell my friend.

And with a smile, Fiona escorted me through the gate, so I could join the others in signing up for the Luna hunt.

“I pray you win this hunt,” Fiona wished for me with so much love in her eyes for me.

This is why she’s my friend. She understands me more than my own mother.

She’s the best.
