Chapter 2: Boyfriend
I was weary now. I made sure to only stay in the Sophomore hallways, and never to wander too far when it was lunch hour. I stayed by Victoria's side a lot, and was always on the lookout. I was seriously really afraid of him. What he told me was a threat.
Once though, I was almost careless, and as I was walking out the front doors to meet Jaxon in the parking lot, I rounded the corner, and saw him and his group of mean looking friends walking down the hallway. They didn't seem to notice me, and I gasped and jumped back, and looked for the women's restroom. But as I was looking, they came around the corner, and I bumped into Kade. He looked at me frowning, and once he realized who I was, he rolled his eyes, and shouldered past me, leaving a throbbing pain in my arm. I groaned, and glared at the back of his head. He didn't look back at me. What a jerk.
I started talking to this guy in my grade, Daniel Calibur. He was really nice, and I actually started developing this crush for him.
We were walking down the hallway to my locker, laughing and talking.
"Wait, so your dog actually tore the doll up?" I asked, doing my combination, and Daniel nodded.
"Yeah, my sister was a wreck. She came crying to me, saying stuff like, 'Traci just killed my baby doll!' It actually got really annoying."
"I feel bad." I chuckled, putting some of my books in my locker. Daniel leaned on the other locker, looking around, and I looked around too, and then, saw him. He was alone now, and his intent, dark eyes were on me as he approached my direction. They went from me to Daniel, and I could almost see anger in his eyes.
"So, um, wanna come over today?" Daniel asked. But I was shutting him out, putting him in the back of my mind, my whole entire focus on Kale Lander. His eyes didn't leave mine, and I looked away in nervousness, and grabbed my bag and shut my locker.
"Um, I don't know." I said quietly, glancing at the bad boy who was walking our way. He got so close to us, I seriously thought he was gonna come to us, but he just walked past, and it felt like a weight just lifted off my shoulders.
"So, that's a no?" I looked back at Daniel, blinking a couple times.
"Uh, no, no, I'll go." I said, making sure Kade wasn't in the area. Daniel frowned at me.
"Um, are you okay?" He asked. "Who was that guy?"
"I don't know, a stranger." I lied, and he shrugged and grabbed my hand and led me outside.
As the days went on, Daniel and I developed a much better relationship, and finally, he kissed me. So now, we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I was so excited to tell Victoria.
"Wait, you're dating Daniel?" She asked, raising her eyebrows, popping a popcorn piece in her mouth. We were eating lunch in the cafeteria.
"Uh yeah, I guess so." I smiled. But all Victoria did was frown. "What?"
"Well, what about Kade?"
"What?"
"Come on, I think he likes you." I frowned.
"You're totally kidding. He's an ass, Victoria. We will never be a couple."
"Whatever you say, Lana." Victoria said, her eyes widened, her eyebrows raised. I got mad suddenly.
"Seriously, you're not gonna be like, happy for me that I have a boyfriend?"
"Not really. I think you and Kade would be better. There's some things you don't know about Daniel yet."
"Like what?"
"He's cheated before." She muttered. "Multiple times. Only reason why you don't know that is because you just met him this year." I seriously couldn't believe her. I didn't understand why she wasn't happy with me being with Daniel, I mean, he was a great guy.
"You know what, if you're just not gonna be supportive, then I don't want to talk to you." I growled, standing up, and Victoria shrugged.
"Fine, don't believe me, Lana." She said simply. "Just don't come crying to me when that guy has stolen your heart and then breaks it."
"I won't." I growled, and I went to go sit with my other friends.
Once again I went to the library that day, to check out a romance novel I was actually interested in reading. I was standing at the desk, waiting for the librarian, Mrs. Robin, to scan my books when I felt an uneasy presence behind me. Then, somebody stood right next to me, putting their arms on the desk. Their muscular, tattooed arms.
"Another one?" I gulped as I looked at Kade. He had that mischievous smirk on his face as usual.
Mrs. Robin gave me my book, and I silently walked away. But that boy kept following me.
"Now you're giving me the silent treatment?" He chuckled. "After telling you what I said? You really don't know how weak you are."
"I don't even know you!" I snapped, turning around to face him. "And you don't even know me! You don't know my name! I'm just a random girl you met at the library. So just leave me alone, and go find somebody else to pick on, maybe another senior, but not me."
"Lana." He said softly, and I froze. His little grin increased.
"Just leave me alone." I said quickly, and I turned and kept walking.
"Hey, who's that guy you keep hanging out with?" He called out, and I stopped, and looked back at him. His dark eyes were closely watching me.
"That's none of your business."
"Oh sweetheart, I think it is." Kade approached me slowly, his hands in his hoodie. He was maybe half a foot taller than me, so he was looking down at me, his chest maybe a foot's length from mine.
"M-my boyfriend." I muttered, looking nervously away. He was silent. I looked back up at him. I saw a glint of...jealousy in his eyes? Whatever it was, it wasn't happy or friendly.
"Hey Lana!" I turned, and Kade's eyes looked over at Daniel, who was approaching us. He grabbed me and kissed me right in front of Kade, and I nervously glanced over at him. I could see his eyes seething with something, his expression stony.
"Um, hey Daniel." I said softly. Daniel frowned as he looked at Kade, who glared right back at him.
"Who is this?" Daniel asked.
"Um Kade." I said, gulping. Daniel stared at him, and then slowly nodded.
"Uh, hey." He said. Kade just continued to glare at him, and then he turned to me, smirked, and walked away, shouldering and pushing Daniel out of the way.
"What the hell is his problem?" Daniel frowned at me.
"I have no idea." I said, an honest answer.
"I thought you said you didn't know him?"
"I don't." I said, watching Kade turn the corner. "But he knows me."
